Jeremiah 25

1This is the wordH1697 thatH834 cameH1961 toH5921 JeremiahH3414 concerningH5921 allH3605 the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063 in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of JehoiakimH3079 sonH1121 of JosiahH2977 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, whichH1931 was the firstH7224 yearH8141 of NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894. 2SoH834 the prophetH5030 JeremiahH3414 spokeH1696 toH5921 allH3605 the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063H413 and allH3605 the residentsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 as followsH559:

3“FromH4480 the thirteenthH7969H6240 yearH8141 of JosiahH2977 sonH1121 of AmonH526 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 untilH5704 this veryH2088 dayH3117—twenty-threeH7969H6242 yearsH8141—the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 has comeH1961 to meH413, and I have spokenH1696 to youH413 againH7925 and againH1696,1 but you have notH3808 listenedH8085. 4And the LORDH3068 has sentH7971 allH3605 His servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030 toH413 youH853 againH7925 and againH7971,2 but you have notH3808 listenedH8085 or inclinedH5186 your earH241 to hearH8085.

5The prophets toldH559 you, ‘TurnH7725 nowH4994, each of youH376, from your evilH7451 waysH1870 andH7455 deedsH4611, and you can dwellH3427 inH5921 the landH127 thatH834 the LORD has givenH5414H3068 to you and your fathersH1 foreverH4480H5769 andH5704 everH5769. 6Do notH408 followH1980H310 otherH312 godsH430 to serveH5647 and worshipH7812 them, and do notH3808 provoke Me to angerH3707 with the worksH4639 of your handsH3027. Then I will do you noH3808 harmH7489.’

7‘But to your own harmH7451, you have notH3808 listenedH8085 to MeH413,’ declaresH5002 the LORDH3068, ‘soH4616 you have provoked Me to angerH3707 with the worksH4639 of your handsH3027.’

8ThereforeH3651 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635 saysH559: ‘BecauseH3282 you have notH3808 obeyedH8085 My wordsH1697, 9beholdH2005, I will summonH7971H3947 allH3605 the familiesH4940 of the northH6828, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068, andH413 I will send for My servantH5650 NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, whom I will bringH935 againstH5921 thisH2063 landH776, againstH5921 its residentsH3427, and againstH5921 allH3605 theH428 surroundingH5439 nationsH1471. So I will devote them to destructionH27633 and make themH7760 an object of horrorH8047 and contemptH8322, an everlastingH5769 desolationH2723.

10Moreover, I will banishH6 from them the soundsH6963 of joyH8342 and gladnessH8057, the voicesH6963 of the brideH3618 andH6963 bridegroomH2860H6963, the soundH6963 of the millstonesH7347, and the lightH216 of the lampH5216. 11And thisH2063 wholeH3605 landH776 will becomeH1961 a desolateH2723 wastelandH8047, and theseH428 nationsH1471 will serveH5647 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 for seventyH7657 yearsH8141.

12But whenH1961 seventyH7657 yearsH8141 are completeH4390, I will punishH6485H5921 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894H5921 and thatH1931 nationH1471, the landH776 of the ChaldeansH3778,4 for their guiltH5771H5921, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068, and I will makeH7760 itH853 an everlastingH5769 desolationH8077.

13I will bringH935 uponH5921 thatH1931 landH776 allH3605 the wordsH1697 I have pronouncedH1696 against itH5921, allH3605 that is writtenH3789 in thisH2088 bookH5612, whichH834 JeremiahH3414 has prophesiedH5012 againstH5921 allH3605 the nationsH1471. 14ForH3588 manyH7227 nationsH1471 and greatH1419 kingsH4428 will enslaveH5647 themH1992, and I will repayH7999 them according to their deedsH6467 and according to the workH4639 of their handsH3027.’”

The Cup of God’s Wrath

This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, saidH559 to meH413: “TakeH3947 from My handH3027 thisH2063 cupH3563 of the wineH3196 of wrathH2534, and make allH3605 the nationsH1471 to whomH834 IH595 sendH7971 youH413 drinkH8248 from itH853. 16And they will drinkH8354 and staggerH1607 and go out of their mindsH1984, because ofH6440 the swordH2719 thatH834 IH595 will sendH7971 among themH996.”

17So I tookH3947 the cupH3563 from the LORD’sH3068 handH3027 and made allH3605 the nationsH1471 drinkH8248 from itH853, each one to whomH413 the LORDH3068 had sent meH7971, 18to makeH5414 themH853 a ruinH2723, an object of horrorH8047 and contemptH8322 and cursingH7045, as they are to thisH2088 dayH3117—JerusalemH3389 and the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, its kingsH4428 and officialsH8269; 19PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, his officialsH5650, his leadersH8269, andH853 allH3605 his peopleH5971; 20allH3605 the mixed tribesH6154; allH3605 the kingsH4428 of UzH776H5780; allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the PhilistinesH776H6430: AshkelonH831, GazaH5804, EkronH6138, and the remnantH7611 of AshdodH795; 21EdomH123, MoabH4124, and the AmmonitesH1121H5983; 22allH3605 the kingsH4428 of TyreH6865 andH853 SidonH6721; the kingsH4428 of the coastlandsH339 acrossH5676 the seaH3220; 23DedanH1719, TemaH8485, BuzH938, and allH3605 who cutH7112 the cornersH6285 of their hair; 24allH3605 the kingsH4428 of ArabiaH6152, and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the mixed tribesH6154 who dwellH7931 in the desertH4057; 25allH3605 the kingsH4428 of ZimriH2174, ElamH5867, andH853 MediaH4074; 26allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the northH6828, both nearH7138 and farH7350, oneH376 afterH413 anotherH251—allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 onH5921 the faceH6440 of the earthH127. And after all of themH310, the kingH4428 of SheshachH83475 will drinkH8354 it too.

27“Then you are to tell themH559 thatH413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, saysH559: ‘DrinkH8354, get drunkH7937, and vomitH7006. Fall downH5307 and neverH3808 get up againH6965, because ofH6440 the swordH2719 IH595 will sendH7971 among youH996.’

28

IfH3588 they refuseH3985 to takeH3947 the cupH3563 from your handH3027 and drink itH8354, you are to tell themH559 thatH413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635 saysH559: ‘You most certainly must drink itH8354! 29ForH3588 beholdH2009, IH595 am beginningH2490 to bring disasterH7489 on the cityH5892 thatH834 bearsH7121 My NameH8034, so how could youH859 possibly go unpunishedH5352? You will notH3808 go unpunishedH5352, forH3588 IH589 am calling downH7121 a swordH2719 uponH5921 allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the earthH776, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635.’

30So youH859 are to prophesyH5012 allH3605 theseH428 wordsH1697 againstH413 themH853 and sayH559 to themH413:

‘The LORDH3068 will roarH7580 from on highH4791;He will raiseH5414 His voiceH6963 from His holyH6944 habitationH4583.He will roar loudlyH7580 overH5921 His pastureH5116;like those who tread the grapesH1869,He will call outH6030 with a shoutH1959againstH413 allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the earthH776.31The tumultH7588 will resoundH935 toH5704 the endsH7097 of the earthH776becauseH3588 the LORDH3068 brings a chargeH7379 against the nationsH1471.HeH1931 brings judgmentH8199 on allH3605 mankindH1320and putsH5414 the wickedH7563 to the swordH2719,’”declaresH5002 the LORDH3068.

32This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635 saysH559:

“BeholdH2009! DisasterH7451 is spreadingH3318from nationH1471 toH413 nationH1471;a mightyH1419 stormH5591 is risingH5782from the endsH3411 of the earthH776.”

The Cry of the Shepherds

33Those slainH2491 by the LORDH3068 on thatH1931 dayH3117 will be spreadH1961 from one endH7097 of the earthH776 toH5704 the otherH7097H776. They will notH3808 be mournedH5594H3808, gatheredH622H3808, or buriedH6912. They will beH1961 like dungH1828 lyingH5921 onH6440 the groundH127.

34WailH3213, you shepherdsH7462, and cry outH2199;roll in the dustH6428, you leadersH117 of the flockH6629.ForH3588 the daysH3117 of your slaughterH2873 have comeH4390;you will fallH5307 and be shatteredH8600 like fineH2532 potteryH3627.635FlightH4498 will evadeH6H4480 the shepherdsH7462,and escapeH6413 will elude the leadersH117 of the flockH6629.36Hear theH6963 cryH6818 of the shepherdsH7462,the wailingH3215 of the leadersH117 of the flockH6629,forH3588 the LORDH3068 is destroyingH7703 their pastureH4830.37The peacefulH7965 meadowsH4999 have been silencedH1826because ofH6440 the LORD’sH3068 burning angerH2740H639.38He has leftH5800 His denH5520 like a lionH3715,forH3588 their landH776 has been madeH1961 a desolationH8047byH6440 the swordH27407 of the oppressorH3238,and becauseH6440 of the fierceH2740 angerH639 of the LORD.
