Jeremiah 15

1Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 to meH413: “Even ifH518 MosesH4872 and SamuelH8050 should standH5975 before MeH6440, My heartH5315 would notH369 go out toH413 thisH2088 peopleH5971. Send themH7971 fromH5921 My presenceH6440, and let them goH3318! 2IfH3588 they ask youH559H413, ‘WhereH575 shall we goH3318?’ you are to tell themH559 thatH413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559:

‘ThoseH834 destined for deathH4194, to deathH4194;thoseH834 destined for the swordH2719, to the swordH2719;1thoseH834 destined for famineH7458, to famineH7458;and thoseH834 destined for captivityH7628, to captivityH7628.’

3I will appointH6485 over themH5921 fourH702 kinds of destroyersH4940, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068: the swordH2719 to killH2026, the dogsH3611 to drag awayH5498, and the birdsH5775 of the airH8064 and beastsH929 of the earthH776 to devourH398 and destroyH7843. 4I will make themH5414 a horrorH2113 to allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 because ofH1558 whatH834 ManassehH4519 sonH1121 of HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 didH6213 in JerusalemH3389.

5WhoH4310 will have pityH2550 on youH5921, O JerusalemH3389?WhoH4310 will mournH5110 for you?WhoH4310 will turn asideH5493to askH7592 about your welfareH7965?6YouH859 have forsakenH5203 MeH853, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068.You have turned your backH268H1980.So I will stretch outH5186 My handH3027 against youH5921and I will destroy youH7843;I am wearyH3811 of showing compassionH5162.
7I will scatter themH2219 with a winnowing forkH4214at the gatesH8179 of the landH776.I will bereaveH7921 and destroyH6 My peopleH5971who have notH3808 turnedH7725 from their waysH1870.8I will make their widowsH490 more numerousH6105than the sandH2344 of the seaH3220.I will bringH935 a destroyerH7703 at noonH6672againstH5921 the mothersH517 of young menH970.I will suddenlyH6597 bringH5307 upon themH5921anguishH5892 and dismayH928.

Jeremiah’s Woe

9The motherH3205 of sevenH7651 will grow faintH535; she will breatheH5301 her last breathH5315. Her sunH8121 will setH935 while it is stillH5750 dayH3119; she will be disgracedH954 and humiliatedH2659. And the restH7611 I will putH5414 to the swordH2719 in the presenceH6440 of their enemiesH341,” declaresH5002 the LORDH3068.

10WoeH188 to me, my motherH517,thatH3588 you have borne meH3205,a manH376 of strifeH7379H376 and conflictH4066in allH3605 the landH776.I have neitherH3808 lentH5383 norH3808 borrowedH5383,yet everyoneH3605 curses meH7043.

11The LORDH3068 saidH559:

“SurelyH518H3808 I will deliver youH8323 for a good purposeH2896;surely I willH518H3808 intercedeH6293 with your enemyH341in your timeH6256 of troubleH7451,in your timeH6256 of distressH6869.12Can anyone smashH7489 ironH1270—ironH1270 from the northH6828—or bronzeH5178?13Your wealthH2428 and your treasuresH214I will give upH5414 as plunderH957,withoutH3808 chargeH4242 for allH3605 your sinsH2403within allH3605 your bordersH1366.14Then I will enslave youH5674 toH853 your enemiesH341in a landH7762 you do notH3808 knowH3045,forH3588 My angerH639 will kindleH6919 a fireH784that will burnH3344 against youH5921.”
15YouH859 understandH3045, O LORDH3068;remember meH2142 and attend to meH6485.Avenge meH5358 against my persecutorsH7291.In Your patienceH750H639, do notH408 take me awayH3947.Know thatH3045 I endureH5375 reproachH2781 for Your honorH5921.16Your wordsH1697 were foundH4672, and I ate themH398.Your wordsH1697 becameH1961 my joyH8342and my heart’sH3824 delightH8057.ForH3588 I bearH7121 Your nameH8034H5921,O LORDH3068 GodH430 of HostsH6635.17I neverH3808 satH3427 with the bandH5475 of revelersH7832,nor did I celebrate with themH5937.BecauseH6440 Your hand was on meH3027, I satH3427 aloneH910,forH3588 You have filled meH4390 with indignationH2195.18WhyH4100 isH1961 my painH3511 unendingH5331,and my woundH4347 incurableH605,refusingH3985 to be healedH7495?You have indeed becomeH1961 likeH3644 a mirageH391 to me—waterH4325 that is notH3808 thereH539.

The LORD’s Promise

19ThereforeH3651 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559:

“IfH518 you returnH7725, I will restore youH7725;you will standH5975 in My presenceH6440.And ifH518 you speakH3318 words that are nobleH3368 instead of worthlessH2151,you will beH1961 My spokesmanH6310.It is theyH1992 who must turnH7725 to youH413,but youH859 must notH3808 turnH7725 to themH413.20Then I will make youH5414 a wallH2346 to thisH2088 peopleH5971,a fortified wallH1219 of bronzeH5178;they will fightH3898 against youH413but will notH3808 overcomeH3201 you,forH3588 IH589 am with youH854 to saveH3467 and deliver youH5337,declaresH5002 the LORDH3068.21I will deliver youH5337 from the handH3027 of the wickedH7451and redeem youH6299 from the graspH3709 of the ruthlessH6184.”
