Jeremiah 33
1WhileH1931 Jeremiah was stillH5750 confinedH6113 in the courtyardH2691 of the guardH4307, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 toH413 him a second timeH8145: 2“ThusH3541 saysH559 the LORDH3068 who made the earthH6213,1 the LORDH3068 who formedH3335 itH853 and established itH3559, the LORDH3068 is His nameH8034: 3CallH7121 to MeH413, and I will answerH6030 and showH5046 you greatH1419 and unsearchable thingsH1219 you do notH3808 knowH3045.
4ForH3588 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, saysH559 aboutH5921 the housesH1004 of thisH2063H5921 cityH5892 and the palacesH1004 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 that have been torn downH5422 for defense againstH413 the siege rampsH5550H413 and the swordH2719: 5The ChaldeansH3778 are comingH935 to fightH38982 and to fillH4390 those places withH854 the corpsesH6297 of the menH120 I will strike downH5221 in My angerH639 and in My wrathH2534. I have hiddenH5641 My faceH6440 from thisH2063 cityH5892 because ofH5921 allH3605 its wickednessH7451.
6NeverthelessH2005, I will bringH5927 to it healthH724 and healingH4832, and I will healH7495 its people and revealH1540 to them the abundanceH6283 of peaceH7965 and truthH571. 7I will restoreH7725 JudahH3063 andH7622 IsraelH3478 from captivityH76223 and will rebuild themH1129 as in former timesH7223. 8And I will cleanse themH2891 from allH3605 the iniquityH5771 they have committedH2398 against Me, and will forgiveH5545 allH3605H5771 their sinsH2398 of rebellionH6586 against Me.
9So this city will bringH1961 Me renownH8034, joyH8342, praiseH8416, and gloryH8597 before allH3605 the nationsH1471 of the earthH776, whoH834 will hearH8085 of allH3605 the goodH2896 IH595 doH6213 for itH853. They will trembleH7264 in aweH6342 because ofH5921 allH3605 the goodnessH2896H5921 andH3605 prosperityH7965 thatH834 IH595 will provideH6213 for it.
10This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: In thisH2088 placeH4725 youH859 sayH559 is a wastelandH2720H1931 withoutH369 manH120 or beastH929, in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389 that are desertedH8074—inhabitedH3427 by neitherH369 manH120 norH369 beastH929—there will be heardH8085 againH5750 11the soundsH6963 of joyH8342 and gladnessH8057, the voicesH6963 of the brideH3618 and bridegroomH2860, and the voicesH6963 of those bringingH935 thank offeringsH8426 into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, sayingH559:
ForH3588 I will restoreH7725 the landH776 from captivityH76224 as in former timesH7223, saysH559 the LORDH3068.
12This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635 saysH559: In thisH2088 desolateH2720 placeH4725, withoutH369 manH120H5704 or beastH929, and in allH3605 its citiesH5892, there will once moreH5750 beH1961 pasturesH5116 for shepherdsH7462 to restH7257 their flocksH6629.
The Covenant with David
13In the citiesH5892 of the hill countryH2022, the foothillsH8219,5 and the NegevH5045, in the landH776 of BenjaminH1144 and the cities surroundingH5439 JerusalemH3389, and in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, the flocksH6629 will againH5750 passH5674 underH5921 the handsH3027 of the one who counts themH4487, saysH559 the LORDH3068.
17ForH3588 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: DavidH1732 will neverH3808 lackH3772 a manH376 to sitH3427 onH5921 the throneH3678 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, 18norH3808 will the priestsH3548 who are LevitesH3881 everH3605H3117 failH3772 to have a manH376 before MeH6440 to offerH5927 burnt offeringsH5930, to burnH6999 grain offeringsH4503, and to presentH6213 sacrificesH2077.”
19And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 toH413 JeremiahH3414H559: 20“This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: IfH518 you can breakH6565 My covenantH1285 with the dayH3117 and My covenantH1285 with the nightH3915, so that dayH3119 and nightH3915 ceaseH1115 to occupyH1961 their appointed timeH6256, 21then My covenantH1285 may alsoH1571 be brokenH6565 withH854 DavidH1732 My servantH5650 and withH854 My ministersH8334 the LevitesH3881 who are priestsH3548, so that David will not haveH1961 a sonH1121 to reignH4427 onH5921 his throneH3678. 22AsH834 the hostsH6635 of heavenH8064 cannotH3808 be countedH5608 and as the sandH2344 on the seashoreH3220 cannotH3808 be measuredH4058, so tooH3651 will I multiplyH7235 the descendantsH2233 of My servantH5650 DavidH1732 and the LevitesH3881 who ministerH8334 before MeH853.”
23Moreover, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 toH413 JeremiahH3414H559: 24“Have you notH3808 noticedH7200 whatH4100 theseH2088 peopleH5971 are sayingH1696H559: ‘The LORDH3068 has rejectedH3988 the twoH8147 familiesH4940 He had chosenH977’? So they despiseH5006 My peopleH5971 and no longerH5750 regard themH1961 as a nationH1471. 25This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: IfH518 I have notH3808 establishedH7760 My covenantH1285 with the dayH3119 and the nightH3915 and the fixed orderH2708 of heavenH8064 and earthH776, 26then I would alsoH1571 rejectH3988 the descendantsH2233 of JacobH3290 and of My servantH5650 DavidH1732, so as not to takeH3947 from his descendantsH2233 rulersH4910 overH413 the descendantsH2233 of AbrahamH85, IsaacH3446, and JacobH3290. ForH3588 I will restore themH7725 from captivityH76227 and will have compassion on themH7355.”
