Genesis 34:4-10
4So ShechemH7927H413 toldH559 his fatherH1H559 HamorH2544, “GetH3947 me thisH2063 girlH3207 as a wifeH802.”
5JacobH3290 heardH8085 thatH3588 Shechem had defiledH2930 his daughterH1323 DinahH1783, but since his sonsH1121 wereH1961 withH854 his livestockH4735 in the fieldH7704, heH3290 remained silentH2790 about it untilH5704 they returnedH935. 6Meanwhile, Shechem’sH7927H413 fatherH1 HamorH2544 cameH3318 to speakH1696 withH854 JacobH3290. 7When Jacob’sH3290 sonsH1121 heard what had happenedH8085, they returnedH935 fromH4480 the fieldH7704. They were filled withH3966 griefH6087H582 and furyH2734, becauseH3588 Shechem had committedH6213 an outrageH5039 in IsraelH34781 by lyingH7901 withH853 Jacob’sH3290 daughterH1323—a thingH3651 that should notH3808 be doneH6213.
8But HamorH2544 saidH1696 to themH854H559, “My sonH1121 ShechemH7927 longs forH2836H5315 your daughterH1323. PleaseH4994 giveH5414 herH853 to him as his wifeH802. 9Intermarry with usH2859H854; giveH5414 us your daughtersH1323 and takeH3947 our daughtersH1323 for yourselves. 10You may settleH3427 among usH854, and the landH776 will beH1961 open to youH6440. Live hereH3427, move about freelyH5503, and acquire your own propertyH270.”
