2And Abramוְאַבְרָ֖םve.'av.RamH87had become extremelyמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966wealthyכָּבֵ֣דka.VedH3515in livestockבַּמִּקְנֶ֕הba.mik.NehH4735and silverבַּכֶּ֖סֶףba.Ke.sefH3701and goldוּבַזָּהָֽב׃u.va.za.HavH2091.

3From the Negevמִנֶּ֖גֶבmi.Ne.gevH5045he journeyedוַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙vai.Ye.lekhH1980from place to placeלְמַסָּעָ֔יוle.ma.sa.'AvH4550towardH1008BethelH1008,until he cameוְעַד־ve.'ad-H5704toעַד־'ad-H5704the placeהַמָּק֗וֹםha.ma.KomH4725betweenבֵּ֥יןbeinH996BethelH1008andוּבֵ֥יןu.VeinH996Aiהָעָֽי׃ha.'AiH5857whereאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834his tentאָֽהֳלוֹ֙'o.ho.loH168had formerlyבַּתְּחִלָּ֔הba.te.chi.LahH8462been pitchedהָ֨יָה שָׁ֤םHa.yah shamH1961 H8033,

4toאֶל־'el-H413the siteמְקוֹם֙me.kOmH4725whereאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he had builtעָ֥שָׂה בָּרִאשֹׁנָ֑ה'A.sah ba.ri.sho.NahH6213 H7223the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַha.miz.Be.achH4196.And thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033Abramאַבְרָ֖ם'av.RamH87calledוַיִּקְרָ֥א שָׁ֛םvai.yik.Ra' shamH7121 H8033on the nameבְּשֵׁ֥םbe.ShemH8034of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

5Now Lotלְל֔וֹטle.LotH3876,who was travelingהַהֹלֵ֖ךְha.ho.LekhH1980withאֶת־'et-H854Abramאַבְרָ֑ם'av.RamH87,alsoוְגַם־ve.gam-H1571hadהָיָ֥הha.YahH1961flocksצֹאן־tzon-H6629and herdsוּבָקָ֖רu.va.KarH1241and tentsוְאֹהָלִֽים׃ve.'o.ha.LimH168.

6But the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776was unableוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808to supportנָשָׂ֥אna.Sa'H5375both ofthemאֹתָ֛ם'o.TamH853while they stayedלָשֶׁ֣בֶתla.She.vetH3427togetherיַחְדָּ֑וyach.DavH3162,forכִּֽי־ki-H3588they hadהָיָ֤הha.YahH1961so manyרָ֔בRavH7227possessionsרְכוּשָׁם֙re.khu.ShamH7399that they were unableוְלֹ֥א יָֽכְל֖וּve.Lo' ya.khe.LuH3201 H3808to coexistלָשֶׁ֥בֶת יַחְדָּֽו׃la.She.vet yach.DavH3427 H3162.

7And there wasוַֽיְהִי־vay.hi-H1961discordרִ֗יבRivH7379betweenבֵּ֚יןbeinH996the herdsmenרֹעֵ֣יro.'EiH7462of Abramמִקְנֵֽה־ אַבְרָ֔ם וּבֵ֖יןmik.neh- 'av.Ram u.VeinH87 H996 H4735and the herdsmenרֹעֵ֣יro.'EiH7462of Lotמִקְנֵה־ ל֑וֹטmik.neh- LotH3876 H4735.At that timeאָ֖ז'azH227the Canaanitesוְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ve.ha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669and the Perizzitesוְהַפְּרִזִּ֔יve.hap.pe.ri.ZiH6522were also livingיֹשֵׁ֥בyo.ShevH3427in the landבָּאָֽרֶץ׃ba.'A.retzH776.

8So Abramאַבְרָ֜ם'av.RamH87saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Lotל֗וֹטLotH3876, “Pleaseנָ֨אna'H4994let there beתְהִ֤יte.HiH1961noאַל־'al-H408contentionמְרִיבָה֙me.ri.VahH4808between you and meH996,or betweenH996your herdsmenרֹעַ֖יro.'AiH7462 H996and my herdsmenרֹעֶ֑יךָro.'Ei.khaH7462.After allכִּֽי־ אֲנָשִׁ֥יםki- 'a.na.ShimH3588 H582,weאֲנָֽחְנוּ׃'a.Na.che.nuH587are kinsmenאַחִ֖ים'a.ChimH251.

10And Lotל֣וֹטLotH3876אֶת־'et-H853looked outוַיִּשָּׂא־ עֵינָ֗יוvai.yi.sa'- 'ei.NavH5375 H5869and sawוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200אֶת־'et-H853that the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605plainכִּכַּ֣רki.KarH3603of the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן כִּ֥יhai.yar.Den kiH3383 H3588,all the wayבֹּאֲכָ֖הbo.'a.KhahH935to Zoarצֹֽעַר׃Tzo.'arH6820,was well wateredמַשְׁקֶ֑הmash.KehH4945כֻלָּ֖הּkhu.LahH3605like the gardenכְּגַן־ke.gan-H1588of the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,like the landכְּאֶ֣רֶץke.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714. 11So Lotל֗וֹטLotH3876אֵ֚ת'etH853choseוַיִּבְחַר־vai.yiv.char-H977the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605plainכִּכַּ֣רki.KarH3603of the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֔ןhai.yar.DenH3383for himself andל֖וֹטLotH3876set outוַיִּסַּ֥עvai.yi.Sa'H5265toward the eastמִקֶּ֑דֶםmi.Ke.demH6924.And Abram and Lot partedוַיִּפָּ֣רְד֔וּvai.yi.Pa.re.DuH6504companyאִ֖ישׁ מֵעַ֥ל אָחִֽיו׃'ish me.'Al 'a.ChivH5921 H376 H251.

12Abramאַבְרָ֖ם'av.RamH87livedיָשַׁ֣בya.ShavH3427in the landבְּאֶֽרֶץ־be.'e.retz-H776of Canaanכְּנָ֑עַןke.Na.'anH3667,but Lotוְל֗וֹטve.LotH3876settledיָשַׁב֙ya.ShavH3427in the citiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892of the plainהַכִּכָּ֔רha.ki.KarH3603and pitched his tentוַיֶּאֱהַ֖לvai.ye.'e.HalH167towardעַד־'ad-H5704Sodomסְדֹֽם׃se.DomH5467.

13But the menוְאַנְשֵׁ֣יve.'an.SheiH582of Sodomסְדֹ֔םse.DomH5467were wickedרָעִ֖יםra.'ImH7451,sinningוְחַטָּאִ֑יםve.cha.ta.'ImH2400greatlyמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966against the LORDלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.

God Renews the Promise to Abram

14Afterאַחֲרֵי֙'a.cha.ReiH310Lotל֣וֹטLotH3876had departedהִפָּֽרֶד־ מֵֽעִמּ֔וֹhi.pa.red- me.'i.MoH6504 H5973,the LORDוַֽיהוָ֞הva.Yah.wehH3068saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559toאֶל־'el-H413Abramאַבְרָ֗ם'av.RamH87, “Nowנָ֤אna'H4994lift upשָׂ֣אsa'H5375your eyesעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙'ei.Nei.khaH5869fromמִן־min-H4480the placeהַמָּק֖וֹםha.ma.KomH4725whereאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834youאַתָּ֣ה'a.TahH859areשָׁ֑םShamH8033,and lookוּרְאֵ֔הu.re.'EhH7200to the northצָפֹ֥נָהtza.Fo.nahH6828and southוָנֶ֖גְבָּהva.Neg.bahH5045and eastוָקֵ֥דְמָהva.Ke.de.mahH6924and westוָיָֽמָּה׃va.Ya.mahH3220,

16I will makeוְשַׂמְתִּ֥יve.sam.TiH7760אֶֽת־'et-H853your offspringזַרְעֲךָ֖zar.'a.KhaH2233like the dustכַּעֲפַ֣רka.'a.FarH6083of the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,so thatאֲשֶׁ֣ר׀'a.SherH834ifאִם־'im-H518oneאִ֗ישׁ'IshH376couldיוּכַ֣לyu.KhalH3201countלִמְנוֹת֙lim.nOtH4487אֶת־'et-H853the dustעֲפַ֣ר'a.FarH6083of the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776,thenגַּֽם־gam-H1571your offspringזַרְעֲךָ֖zar.'a.KhaH2233could be countedיִמָּנֶֽה׃yi.ma.NehH4487.

17Get upק֚וּםkumH6965and walkהִתְהַלֵּ֣ךְhit.ha.LekhH1980around the landבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776,through its lengthלְאָרְכָּ֖הּle.'a.re.KahH753and breadthוּלְרָחְבָּ֑הּu.le.ra.che.BahH7341,forכִּ֥יkiH3588I will give itאֶתְּנֶֽנָּה׃'et.te.Ne.nahH5414to you.”

18So Abramאַבְרָ֗ם'av.RamH87moved his tentוַיֶּאֱהַ֣לvai.ye.'e.HalH167and wentוַיָּבֹ֛אvai.ya.Vo'H935to liveוַיֵּ֛שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427near the Oaksבְּאֵלֹנֵ֥יbe.'e.lo.NeiH436of Mamreמַמְרֵ֖אmam.Re'H4471אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834at Hebronבְּחֶבְר֑וֹןbe.chev.RonH2275,whereשָׁ֥םshamH8033he builtוַיִּֽבֶן־vai.yi.ven-H1129an altarמִזְבֵּ֖חַmiz.Be.achH4196to the LORDלַֽיהוָֽה׃ פla.Yah.wehH3068.
