Revelation 18
American Standard Version
1After these thingsG3778 I sawG3708 another angelG32 comingG2597 downG2597 out of heavenG3772, having greatG3173 authorityG1849; and the earthG1093 was lightened with his gloryG1391. 2And he criedG2896 with a mightyG2478 voiceG5456, sayingG3004, FallenG4098, fallenG4098 is BabylonG897 the greatG3173, and is becomeG1096 a habitation of demonsG1140, and a hold of every uncleanG169 spiritG4151, and a hold of every uncleanG169 and hateful birdG3732. 3For by the wineG3631 of the wrathG2372 of her fornication all the nationsG1484 are fallen; and the kingsG935 of the earthG1093 committedG4203 fornication with her, and the merchantsG1713 of the earthG1093 waxed richG4147 by the powerG1411 of her wantonness.
4And I heardG191 another voiceG5456 from heavenG3772, sayingG3004, ComeG1831 forthG1831, my peopleG2992, out of her, that ye have no fellowship with her sinsG266, and that ye receiveG2983 not of her plaguesG4127: 5for her sinsG266 have reached evenG2532 unto heavenG3772, and GodG2316 hath rememberedG3421 her iniquities. 6RenderG591 unto her evenG2532 as she rendered, and doubleG1362 unto her the doubleG1362 accordingG2596 to her worksG2041: in the cupG4221 which she mingled, mingle unto her doubleG1362. 7How muchG3745 soever she glorifiedG1392 herself, and waxed wanton, so muchG3745 giveG1325 her of tormentG929 and mourningG3997: for she saith in her heartG2588, I sitG2521 a queenG938, and amG1510 no widowG5503, and shall in no wise seeG3708 mourningG3997. 8Therefore in oneG1520 dayG2250 shall her plaguesG4127 comeG2240, deathG2288, and mourningG3997, and famineG3042; and she shall be utterly burnedG2618 with fireG4442; for strongG2478 is the LordG2962 GodG2316 who judgedG2919 her. 9And the kingsG935 of the earthG1093, who committedG4203 fornication and lived wantonly with her, shall weepG2799 and wailG2875 over her, whenG3752 they lookG991 upon the smokeG2586 of her burningG4451, 10standingG2476 afar off for the fearG5401 of her tormentG929, sayingG3004, WoeG3759, woeG3759, the greatG3173 cityG4172, BabylonG897, the strongG2478 cityG4172! for in oneG1520 hourG5610 is thy judgmentG2920 comeG2064. 11And the merchantsG1713 of the earthG1093 weepG2799 and mournG3996 over her, for no man buyeth their merchandise any more; 12merchandise of goldG5557, and silverG696, and preciousG5093 stoneG3037, and pearlsG3135, and fineG1039 linenG1039, and purpleG4209, and silk, and scarletG2847; and all thyine woodG3586, and every vesselG4632 of ivory, and every vesselG4632 made of most preciousG5093 woodG3586, and of brass, and iron, and marble; 13and cinnamon, and spice, and incenseG2368, and ointment, and frankincenseG3030, and wineG3631, and oilG1637, and fine flour, and wheatG4621, and cattle, and sheepG4263; and merchandise of horsesG2462 and chariots and slaves; and soulsG5590 of menG444. 14And the fruits which thy soulG5590 lusted after are goneG565 from thee, and all thingsG3956 that were dainty and sumptuous are perishedG622 from thee, and men shall findG2147 them no more at all. 15The merchantsG1713 of these thingsG3778, who were made richG4147 by her, shall standG2476 afar off for the fearG5401 of her tormentG929, weepingG2799 and mourningG3996; 16sayingG3004, WoeG3759, woeG3759, the greatG3173 cityG4172, she that was arrayed in fineG1039 linenG1039 and purpleG4210 and scarletG2847, and decked with goldG5553 and preciousG5093 stoneG3037 and pearlG3135! 17for in oneG1520 hourG5610 so great richesG4149 is made desolate. And every shipmaster, and every oneG1520 that saileth any whither, and mariners, and as manyG3745 as gain their living by seaG2281, stoodG2476 afar off, 18and criedG2896 out as they looked upon the smokeG2586 of her burningG4451, sayingG3004, What cityG4172 is like the greatG3173 cityG4172? 19And they castG906 dustG5522 on their headsG2776, and criedG2896, weepingG2799 and mourningG3996, sayingG3004, WoeG3759, woeG3759, the greatG3173 cityG4172, wherein all that had their shipsG4143 in the seaG2281 were made richG4147 by reason of her costliness! for in oneG1520 hourG5610 is she made desolate. 20RejoiceG2165 over her, thou heavenG3772, and ye saintsG40, and ye apostlesG652, and ye prophetsG4396; for GodG2316 hath judgedG2919 your judgmentG2917 on her.
21And a strongG2478 angelG32 tookG142 up a stoneG3037 as it were a greatG3173 millstoneG3458 and castG906 it into the seaG2281, sayingG3004, ThusG3779 with a mightyG2478 fall shall BabylonG897, the greatG3173 cityG4172, be castG906 down, and shall be foundG2147 no moreG2089 at all. 22And the voiceG5456 of harpers and minstrels and flute-playersG834 and trumpeters shall be heardG191 no moreG2089 at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craftG5078, shall be foundG2147 any moreG2089 at all in thee; and the voiceG5456 of a mill shall be heardG191 no moreG2089 at all in thee; 23and the lightG5457 of a lampG3088 shall shineG5316 no moreG2089 at all in thee; and the voiceG5456 of the bridegroomG3566 and of the brideG3565 shall beG1510 heardG191 no moreG2089 at all in thee: for thy merchantsG1713 wereG1510 the princes of the earthG1093; for with thy sorceryG5331 wereG1510 all the nationsG1484 deceivedG4105. 24And in her was foundG2147 the bloodG129 of prophetsG4396 and of saintsG40, and of all that have been slainG4969 upon the earthG1093.
