Ezekiel 24
American Standard Version
1Again, in the ninthH8671 yearH8141, in the tenthH6224 monthH2320, in the tenthH6224dayof the monthH2320, the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 2SonH1121 of manH120, writeH3789 thee the nameH8034 of the dayH3117, even of this selfsame dayH3117: the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 drew close unto JerusalemH3389 this selfsame dayH3117. 3And utter a parableH4912 unto the rebelliousH4805 houseH1004, and sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and alsoH1571 pourH3332 waterH4325 into it: 4gatherH622 the piecesH5409 thereof into it, even every goodH2896 pieceH5409, the thighH3409, and the shoulderH3802; fillH4390 it with the choice bonesH6106. 5TakeH3947 the choice of the flockH6629, and alsoH1571 a pile of wood for the bonesH6106 under the caldron; make it boilH1310 wellH1571; yea, let the bonesH6106 thereof be boiledH1310 in the midstH8432 of it.
6Wherefore thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: WoeH188 to the bloody cityH5892, to the caldron whose rustH2457 is therein, and whose rustH2457 is not goneH3318 out of it! take out of it pieceH5409 after pieceH5409; No lotH1486 is fallenH5307 upon it. 7For her bloodH1818 is in the midstH8432 of her; she setH7760 it upon the bare rockH5553; she pouredH8210 it not upon the groundH776, to coverH3680 it with dustH6083. 8That it may cause wrathH2534 to comeH5927 up to take vengeanceH5359, I have setH5414 her bloodH1818 upon the bare rockH5553, that it should not be coveredH3680. 9ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: WoeH188 to the bloody cityH5892! I alsoH1571 will makeH1431 the pileH4071 greatH1431. 10Heap on the woodH6086, makeH8552 the fireH784 hot, boil well the fleshH1320, and makeH8552 thick the broth, and let the bonesH6106 be burnedH2787. 11Then setH5975 it emptyH7386 upon the coalsH1513 thereof, that it may be hot, and the brass thereof may burnH2787, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rustH2457 of it may be consumed. 12She hath weariedH3811 herself with toil; yet her greatH7227 rustH2457 goeth not forthH3318 out of her; her rustH2457 goeth not forthH3318 by fireH784. 13In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansedH2891 thee and thou wast not cleansedH2891, thou shalt not be cleansedH2891 from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my wrathH2534 toward thee to restH5117. 14I, Jehovah, have spokenH1696 it: it shall comeH935 to pass, and I will do it: I will not goH935 back, neither will I spare, neither will I repentH5162; according to thy waysH1870, and according to thy doings, shall they judgeH8199 thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.
15Also the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 16SonH1121 of manH120, behold, I takeH3947 awayH3947 from thee the desireH4261 of thine eyesH5869 with a stroke: yet thou shalt neither mournH5594 nor weepH1058, neither shall thy tearsH1832 run down. 17Sigh, but not aloud, makeH7760 no mourningH60 for the deadH4191; bindH2280 thy headtire upon thee, and putH4191 thy shoes upon thy feetH7272, and coverH5844 not thy lips, and eatH398 not the breadH3899 of menH376. 18So I spake unto the peopleH5971 in the morningH1242; and at even my wifeH802 diedH4191; and I did in the morningH1242 as I was commandedH6680.
19And the peopleH5971 saidH559 unto me, Wilt thou not tellH5046 us what these thingsH428 are to us, that thou doest so? 20Then I saidH559 unto them, The wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 21Speak unto the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Behold, I will profaneH2490 my sanctuaryH4720, the prideH1347 of your power, the desireH5315 of your eyesH5869, and that which your soulH5315 pitieth; and your sonsH1121 and your daughtersH1323 whom ye have leftH5800 behind shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719. 22And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not coverH5844 your lips, nor eatH398 the breadH3899 of menH376. 23And your tires shall be upon your headsH7218, and your shoes upon your feetH7272: ye shall not mournH5594 nor weepH1058; but ye shall pine awayH4743 in your iniquitiesH5771, and moan oneH376 toward another. 24Thus shall EzekielH3168 beH1961 unto you a signH4159; according to all that he hath done shall ye do: when this cometh, then shall ye knowH3045 that I am the LordH136 Jehovah.
25And thou, sonH1121 of manH120, shall it not be in the dayH3117 when I takeH3947 from them their strength, the joyH4885 of their gloryH8597, the desireH5315 of their eyesH5869, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sonsH1121 and their daughtersH1323, 26that in that dayH3117 he that escapeth shall comeH935 unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine earsH241? 27In that dayH3117 shall thy mouthH6310 beH1961 openedH6605 to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speakH1696, and beH1961 no more dumb: so shalt thou beH1961 a signH4159 unto them; and they shall knowH3045 that I am Jehovah.
