Ezekiel 23

1The wordH1697 of Jehovah came again unto me, sayingH559, 2SonH1121 of manH120, there wereH1961 twoH8147 womenH802, the daughtersH1323 of oneH259 motherH517: 3and they playedH2181 the harlot in EgyptH4714; they playedH2181 the harlot in their youthH5271; there were their breastsH7699 pressed, and there was handled the bosom of their virginityH1331. 4And the namesH8034 of them wereH1961 OholahH170 the elder, and OholibahH172 her sisterH269: and they became mine, and they bare sonsH1121 and daughtersH1323. And as for their namesH8034, SamariaH8111 is OholahH170, and JerusalemH3389 OholibahH172.

5And OholahH170 playedH2181 the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her loversH157, on the Assyrians her neighbors, 6who were clothedH3847 with blueH8504, governorsH6346 and rulers, all of them desirable youngH970 menH970, horsemenH6571 ridingH7392 upon horsesH5483. 7And she bestowed her whoredoms upon them, the choicest men of AssyriaH804 all of them; and on whomsoever she doted, with all their idolsH1544 she defiledH2930 herself. 8Neither hath she leftH5800 her whoredoms since the days of EgyptH4714; for in her youthH5271 they layH7901 with her, and they handled the bosom of her virginityH1331; and they pouredH8210 out their whoredom upon her. 9Wherefore I delivered her into the handH3027 of her loversH157, into the handH3027 of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted. 10These uncoveredH1540 her nakednessH6172; they tookH3947 her sonsH1121 and her daughtersH1323; and her they slewH2026 with the swordH2719: and she becameH1961 a byword among womenH802; for they executed judgments upon her.

11And her sisterH269 OholibahH172 sawH7200 this, yet was she moreH4480 corruptH7843 in her doting than she, and in her whoredoms which were moreH4480 than the whoredoms of her sisterH269. 12She doted upon the Assyrians, governorsH6346 and rulers, her neighbors, clothedH3847 most gorgeously, horsemenH6571 ridingH7392 upon horsesH5483, all of them desirable youngH1121 menH970. 13And I sawH7200 that she was defiledH2930; they both took oneH259 wayH1870. 14And she increasedH3254 her whoredoms; for she sawH7200 menH376 portrayed upon the wallH7023, the imagesH6754 of the ChaldeansH3778 portrayed with vermilionH8350, 15girded with girdles upon their loinsH4975, with flowing turbans upon their headsH7218, all of them princes to look upon, after the likenessH1823 of the Babylonians in ChaldeaH3778, the landH776 of their nativity. 16And as soon as she saw them she doted upon them, and sentH7971 messengersH4397 unto them into ChaldeaH3778. 17And the Babylonians cameH935 to her into the bedH4904 of love, and they defiledH2930 her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her soulH5315 was alienated from them. 18So she uncoveredH1540 her whoredoms, and uncoveredH1540 her nakednessH6172: then my soulH5315 was alienated from her, like as my soulH5315 was alienated from her sisterH269. 19Yet she multipliedH7235 her whoredoms, rememberingH2142 the daysH3117 of her youthH5271, wherein she had playedH2181 the harlot in the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 20And she doted upon their paramours, whose fleshH1320 is as the fleshH1320 of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horsesH5483. 21Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youthH5271, in the handling of thy bosom by the Egyptians for the breastsH7699 of thy youthH5271.

22ThereforeH3651, O OholibahH172, thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Behold, I will raise up thy loversH157 against thee, from whom thy soulH5315 is alienated, and I will bringH935 them against thee on every side: 23the Babylonians and all the ChaldeansH3778, PekodH6489 and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them; desirable youngH1121 menH970, governorsH6346 and rulers all of them, princes and menH970 of renown, all of them ridingH7392 upon horsesH5483. 24And they shall comeH935 against thee with weapons, chariotsH7393, and wagons, and with a companyH6951 of peoplesH5971; they shall setH7760 themselves against thee with buckler and shieldH4043 and helmetH6959 roundH5439 about: and I will commit the judgmentH4941 unto them, and they shall judgeH8199 thee according to their judgmentsH4941. 25And I will setH5414 my jealousyH7068 against thee, and they shall deal with thee in fury; they shall takeH3947 awayH5493 thy noseH639 and thine earsH241; and thy residue shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719: they shall takeH3947 thy sonsH1121 and thy daughtersH1323; and thy residue shall be devouredH398 by the fireH784. 26They shall also stripH6584 thee of thy clothesH899, and takeH3947 awayH3947 thy fair jewels. 27Thus will I makeH2142 thy lewdness to ceaseH7673 from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the landH776 of EgyptH4714; so that thou shalt not liftH5375 up thine eyesH5869 unto them, nor rememberH2142 EgyptH4714 any moreH4480. 28For thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Behold, I will deliver thee into the handH3027 of them whom thou hatest, into the handH3027 of them from whom thy soulH5315 is alienated; 29and they shall deal with thee in hatredH8135, and shall takeH3947 away all thy labor, and shall leaveH5800 thee nakedH5903 and bare; and the nakednessH6172 of thy whoredoms shall be uncoveredH1540, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

30These thingsH428 shall be done unto thee, for that thou hast playedH2181 the harlot after the nationsH1471, and because thou art polluted with their idolsH1544. 31Thou hast walkedH1980 in the wayH1870 of thy sisterH269; therefore will I giveH5414 her cupH3563 into thy handH3027. 32ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Thou shalt drinkH8354 of thy sister’sH269 cupH3563, which isH1961 deepH6013 and large; thou shalt beH1961 laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 33Thou shalt be filledH4390 with drunkennessH7943 and sorrowH3015, with the cupH3563 of astonishment and desolationH8077, with the cupH3563 of thy sisterH269 SamariaH8111. 34Thou shalt even drinkH8354 it and drainH4680 it out, and thou shalt gnaw the sherds thereof, and shalt tearH5423 thy breastsH7699; for I have spokenH1696 it, saith the LordH136 Jehovah. 35ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Because thou hast forgottenH7911 me, and castH7993 me behind thy back, thereforeH3651 bearH5375 thou alsoH1571 thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

36Jehovah saidH559 moreover unto me: SonH1121 of manH120, wilt thou judgeH8199 OholahH170 and OholibahH172? then declareH5046 unto them their abominationsH8441. 37For they have committedH5003 adulteryH5003, and bloodH1818 is in their handsH3027; and with their idolsH1544 have they committedH5003 adulteryH5003; and they have alsoH1571 caused their sonsH1121, whom they bare unto me, to passH5674 through the fire unto them to be devoured. 38Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiledH2930 my sanctuaryH4720 in the same dayH3117, and have profanedH2490 my sabbathsH7676. 39For when they had slain their children to their idolsH1544, then they cameH935 the same dayH3117 into my sanctuaryH4720 to profaneH2490 it; and, lo, thusH3541 have they done in the midstH8432 of my houseH1004. 40And furthermore ye have sentH7971 for menH376 that comeH935 from far, unto whom a messengerH4397 was sentH7971, and, lo, they cameH935; for whom thou didst washH7364 thyself, paint thine eyesH5869, and deck thyself with ornamentsH5716, 41and sitH3427 upon a stately bedH4296, with a tableH7979 prepared before it, whereupon thou didst setH7760 mine incenseH7004 and mine oilH8081. 42And the voiceH6963 of a multitudeH1995 being at easeH7961 was with her: and with menH376 of the common sort were broughtH935 drunkardsH5433 from the wildernessH4057; and they putH5414 braceletsH6781 upon the handsH3027 of them twain, and beautiful crownsH5850 upon their headsH7218.

43Then saidH559 I of her that was old in adulteriesH5004, NowH6258 will they playH2181 the harlot with her, and she with them. 44And they wentH935 in unto her, as they goH935 in unto a harlot: soH3651 wentH935 they in unto OholahH170 and unto OholibahH172, the lewd womenH802. 45And righteousH6662 menH376, they shall judgeH8199 them with the judgmentH4941 of adulteresses, and with the judgmentH4941 of women that shedH8210 bloodH1818; because they are adulteresses, and bloodH1818 is in their handsH3027. 46For thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: I will bringH5927 up a companyH6951 against them, and will giveH5414 them to be tossed to and fro and robbed. 47And the companyH6951 shall stoneH68 them with stonesH68, and despatch them with their swordsH2719; they shall slayH2026 their sonsH1121 and their daughtersH1323, and burnH8313 up their housesH1004 with fireH784. 48Thus will I cause lewdness to ceaseH7673 out of the landH776, that all womenH802 may be taught not to do after your lewdness. 49And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bearH5375 the sinsH2399 of your idolsH1544; and ye shall knowH3045 that I am the LordH136 Jehovah.
