Ezekiel 14
American Standard Version
1Then cameH935 certain of the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478 unto me, and satH3427 before me. 2And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 3SonH1121 of manH376, these menH376 have taken their idolsH1544 into their heartH3820, and putH5414 the stumblingblock of their iniquityH5771 before their faceH6440: should I be inquired of at all by them? 4ThereforeH3651 speakH1696 unto them, and sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith the Lord Jehovah: Every manH376 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 that taketh his idolsH1544 into his heartH3820, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquityH5771 before his faceH6440, and cometh to the prophetH5030; I Jehovah will answerH6030 him therein according to the multitudeH7230 of his idolsH1544; 5that I may take the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 in their own heartH3820, because they are all estranged from me through their idolsH1544.
6ThereforeH3651 sayH559 unto the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: ReturnH7725 ye, and turnH7725 yourselves from your idolsH1544; and turnH7725 awayH7725 your facesH6440 from all your abominationsH8441. 7For every oneH376 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, or of the strangers that sojourn in IsraelH3478, that separateth himself from me, and taketh his idolsH1544 into his heartH3820, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquityH5771 before his faceH6440, and cometh to the prophetH5030 to inquire for himself of me; I Jehovah will answerH6030 him by myself: 8and I will setH5414 my faceH6440 against that manH376, and will makeH5414 him an astonishment, for a signH226 and a proverbH4912, and I will cutH3772 him off from the midstH8432 of my peopleH5971; and ye shall knowH3045 that I am Jehovah. 9And if the prophetH5030 be deceived and speakH1696 a wordH1697, I, Jehovah, have deceived that prophetH5030, and I will stretchH5186 out my handH3027 upon him, and will destroyH8045 him from the midstH8432 of my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478. 10And they shall bearH5375 their iniquityH5771: the iniquityH5771 of the prophetH5030 shall beH1961 even as the iniquityH5771 of him that seeketh unto him; 11that the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 may go no more astrayH8582 from me, neither defileH2930 themselves any more with all their transgressionsH6588; but that they may beH1961 my peopleH5971, and I may beH1961 their GodH430, saith the LordH136 Jehovah.
12And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 13SonH1121 of manH120, when a landH776 sinneth against me by committing a trespass, and I stretchH5186 out my handH3027 upon it, and breakH7665 the staffH4294 of the breadH3899 thereof, and sendH7971 famineH7458 upon it, and cutH3772 off from it manH120 and beast; 14though these threeH7969 menH376, NoahH5146, DanielH1840, and JobH347, wereH1961 in it, they should deliverH5337 but their own soulsH5315 by their righteousnessH6666, saith the LordH136 Jehovah. 15If I cause evilH7451 beasts to passH5674 through the landH776, and they ravage it, and it beH1961 made desolate, so that no man may passH5674 through because of the beasts; 16though these threeH7969 menH376 wereH1961 in it, as I live, saith the LordH136 Jehovah, they should deliverH5337 neither sonsH1121 nor daughtersH1323; they onlyH905 should beH1961 deliveredH5337, but the landH776 should beH1961 desolate. 17Or if I bringH935 a swordH2719 upon that landH776, and sayH559, SwordH2719, goH935 through the landH776; so that I cutH3772 off from it manH120 and beast; 18though these threeH7969 menH376 were in it, as I live, saith the LordH136 Jehovah, they should deliverH5337 neither sonsH1121 nor daughtersH1323, but they onlyH905 should be deliveredH5337 themselves. 19Or if I sendH7971 a pestilenceH1698 into that landH776, and pourH8210 out my wrathH2534 upon it in bloodH1818, to cutH3772 off from it manH120 and beast; 20though NoahH5146, DanielH1840, and JobH347, were in it, as I live, saith the LordH136 Jehovah, they should deliverH5337 neither sonH1121 nor daughterH1323; they should but deliverH5337 their ownH5315 soulsH5315 by their righteousnessH6666.
21For thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: How much moreH4480 when I sendH7971 my fourH702 sore judgmentsH8201 upon JerusalemH3389, the swordH2719, and the famineH7458, and the evilH7451 beasts, and the pestilenceH1698, to cutH3772 off from it manH120 and beast! 22Yet, behold, therein shall be leftH3498 a remnantH6413 that shall be carried forthH3318, both sonsH1121 and daughtersH1323: behold, they shall comeH935 forthH3318 unto you, and ye shall seeH7200 their wayH1870 and their doings; and ye shall be comfortedH5162 concerning the evilH7451 that I have broughtH935 upon JerusalemH3389, even concerning all that I have broughtH935 upon it. 23And they shall comfortH5162 you, when ye seeH7200 their wayH1870 and their doings; and ye shall knowH3045 that I have not done without causeH2600 all that I have done in it, saith the LordH136 Jehovah.
