Deuteronomy 15:7-18
7If there beH1961 with thee a poor man, oneH259 of thy brethren, within any of thy gatesH8179 in thy landH776 which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heartH3824, nor shutH7092 thy handH3027 from thy poor brotherH251; 8but thou shalt surely openH6605 thy handH3027 unto him, and shalt surely lendH5670 him sufficient for his need in that which he wanteth. 9Beware that there beH1961 not a base thought in thy heartH3824, sayingH559, The seventh yearH8141, the yearH8141 of release, is at hand; and thine eyeH5869 beH1961 evil against thy poor brotherH251, and thou giveH5414 him nought; and he cry unto Jehovah against thee, and it beH1961 sinH2399 unto thee. 10Thou shalt surely giveH5414 him, and thy heartH3824 shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him; because that for this thingH1697 Jehovah thy GodH430 will blessH1288 thee in all thy workH4639, and in all that thou puttest thy handH3027 unto. 11For the poorH6041 will never ceaseH2308 out of the landH776: thereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee, sayingH559, Thou shalt surely openH6605 thy handH3027 unto thy brotherH251, to thy needyH34, and to thy poorH6041, in thy landH776.
12If thy brotherH251, a HebrewH5680 man, or a HebrewH5680 woman, be soldH4376 unto thee, and serveH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141; then in the seventhH7637 yearH8141 thou shalt let him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee. 13And when thou lettest him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee, thou shalt not let him goH7971 emptyH7387: 14thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flockH6629, and out of thy threshing-floor, and out of thy winepressH3342; as Jehovah thy GodH430 hath blessedH1288 thee thou shalt giveH5414 unto him. 15And thou shalt rememberH2142 that thou wast a bondman in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and Jehovah thy GodH430 redeemedH6299 thee: thereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee this thingH1697 to-day. 16And it shall beH1961, if he sayH559 unto thee, I will not goH3318 out from thee; because he loveth thee and thy houseH1004, because he is wellH2895 with thee; 17then thou shalt takeH3947 an awlH4836, and thrust it through his earH241 unto the doorH1817, and he shall beH1961 thy servantH5650 for everH5769. And alsoH637 unto thy maid-servant thou shalt do likewise. 18It shall not seem hardH7185 unto thee, when thou lettest him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee; for to the doubleH4932 of the hireH7939 of a hireling hath he servedH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141: and Jehovah thy GodH430 will blessH1288 thee in all that thou doest.
