Deuteronomy 15:7-18
7If there shall be among you a poor manH34 of oneH259 of thy brethrenH251 within anyH259 of thy gatesH8179 in thy landH776 which the LORDH3068 the GodH430 givethH5414 thee, thou shalt not hardenH553 thy heartH3824, nor shutH7092 thy handH3027 from thy poorH34 brotherH251: 8But thou shalt openH6605 thy handH3027 wideH6605 to him, and shalt surelyH5670 lendH5670 him sufficientH1767 for his needH4270, in that which he lackethH2637. 9BewareH8104 that there be not a thoughtH1697 in thy wickedH1100 heartH3824, sayingH559, The seventhH7651 yearH8141, the yearH8141 of releaseH8059, is at handH7126; and thy eyeH5869 shall be evilH7489 against thy poorH34 brotherH251, and thou shalt giveH5414 him nothing; and he shall cryH7121 to the LORDH3068 against thee, and it shall be sinH2399 to thee.12 10Thou shalt surelyH5414 giveH5414 him, and thy heartH3824 shall not be grievedH3415 when thou givestH5414 to him: becauseH1558 that for this thingH1697 the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 shall blessH1288 thee in all thy worksH4639, and in all that thou puttestH4916 thy handH3027 to. 11For the poorH34 shall never ceaseH2308 fromH7130 the landH776: therefore I commandH6680 thee, sayingH559, Thou shalt openH6605 thy handH3027 wideH6605 to thy brotherH251, to thy poorH6041, and to thy needyH34, in thy landH776.
12And if thy brotherH251, an Hebrew manH5680, or an Hebrew womanH5680, shall be soldH4376 to thee, and serveH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141; then in the seventhH7637 yearH8141 thou shalt let him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee. 13And when thou sendestH7971 him out freeH2670 from thee, thou shalt not let him departH7971 emptyH7387: 14Thou shalt furnishH6059 him liberallyH6059 out of thy flockH6629, and out of thy floorH1637, and out of thy winepressH3342: of that which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 hath blessedH1288 thee thou shalt giveH5414 to him. 15And thou shalt rememberH2142 that thou wast a slaveH5650 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 redeemedH6299 thee: therefore I commandH6680 thee this thingH1697 this dayH3117. 16And it shall be, if he shall sayH559 to thee, I will not leaveH3318 thee; because he lovethH157 thee and thy houseH1004, because he is wellH2895 with thee; 17Then thou shalt takeH3947 an awlH4836, and thrustH5414 it through his earH241 into the doorH1817, and he shall be thy servantH5650 for everH5769. And also to thy maidservantH519 thou shalt doH6213 likewise. 18It shall not seem hardH7185 to theeH5869, when thou sendest him awayH7971 freeH2670 from thee; for he hath been of doubleH4932 the worthH7939 of a hired servantH7916 to thee, in servingH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141: and the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 shall blessH1288 thee in all that thou doestH6213.
