Matthew 13:3-14

3And He toldἐλάλησενelalēsenG2980them manyπολλὰpollaG4183thingsG4183inparablesπαραβολαῖςparabolaisG3850,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004,“BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,the sowerσπείρωνspeirōnG4687wentG1831outG1831to sowσπείρειν.speireinG4687;

4and as he sowedσπείρεινspeireinG4687,someἃ μὲνha menG3739 G3303seedsfellἔπεσενepesenG4098besideπαρὰparaG3844the roadὁδόν,hodonG3598,and the birdsπετεινὰpeteinaG4071cameἐλθόνταelthontaG2064and ateG2719them upG2719.

5OthersἄλλαallaG243fellἔπεσενepesenG4098on the rockyπετρώδηpetrōdēG4075places, whereὅπουhopouG3699they did not haveεἶχενeichenG2192muchπολλήν,pollēnG4183soilγῆνgēnG1093;and they sprangG1816upG1816immediatelyεὐθέωςeutheōsG2112,becauseδιὰdiaG1223they hadἔχεινecheinG2192noμὴmēG3361depthβάθοςbathosG899of soilγῆς.gēsG1093.

6But after the sunἡλίουhēliouG2246roseἀνατείλαντοςanateilantosG393,they were scorchedἐκαυματίσθη,ekaumatisthēG2739;and becauseδιὰdiaG1223they hadἔχεινecheinG2192noμὴmēG3361rootῥίζανrhizanG4491,they witheredG3583awayG3583.

7OthersἄλλαallaG243fellἔπεσενepesenG4098amongἐπὶepiG1909the thornsἀκάνθας,akanthasG173,and the thornsἄκανθαιakanthaiG173cameG305upG305and chokedG638them out.

8But othersἄλλαallaG243fellἔπεσενepesenG4098on the goodκαλὴνkalēnG2570soilγῆνgēnG1093and yieldedἐδίδουedidouG1325a cropκαρπόν,karponG2590,someὃ μὲνho menG3739 G3303ahundredἑκατόν,hekatonG1540,someὃhoG3739sixtyἑξήκοντα,hexēkontaG1835,and someὃhoG3739thirtyτριάκοντα.triakontaG5144times as much.

9The one who hasἔχωνechōnG2192earsὦταōtaG3775,let him hearἀκουέτω.¶akouetōG191.”

10And the disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101cameπροσελθόντεςproselthontesG4334upG4334and saidG3004to Him, “Whyδιὰ τίdia tiG1223 G5101do You speakλαλεῖςlaleisG2980to them in parablesπαραβολαῖςparabolaisG3850?”

11AndJesus answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611them, “To you it has been grantedδέδοταιdedotaiG1325to knowγνῶναιgnōnaiG1097the mysteriesμυστήριαmustēriaG3466of the kingdomβασιλείαςbasileiasG932of heavenοὐρανῶν,ouranōnG3772,but to them it has not been grantedδέδοται.dedotaiG1325.

12For whoeverὅστιςhostisG3748hasἔχει,echeiG2192, to him moreshall be givenδοθήσεταιdothēsetaiG1325,and he will haveG4052anG4052abundanceG4052;but whoeverὅστιςhostisG3748does not haveἔχει,echeiG2192,evenG2532whatὃhoG3739he hasἔχειecheiG2192shall be takenG142awayἀρθήσεταιarthēsetaiG142from him.

13Thereforeδιὰ τοῦτοdia toutoG1223 G3778I speakλαλῶlalōG2980to them in parablesπαραβολαῖςparabolaisG3850;becauseὅτιhotiG3754whileseeingβλέποντεςblepontesG991they do not seeβλέπουσινblepousinG991,and while hearingἀκούοντεςakouontesG191they do not hearἀκούουσινakouousinG191,norοὐδὲoudeG3761do they understandσυνίουσιν.suniousinG4920.

14Andin their case the prophecyπροφητείαprophēteiaG4394of IsaiahἨσαΐουĒsaiouG2268is being fulfilledἀναπληροῦταιanaplēroutaiG378,which saysλέγουσα·legousaG3004, ‘You shall keepἀκοῇakoēaG189on listeningἀκούσετεakouseteG191,but shall not understandσυνῆτε,sunēteG4920; Andyou shall keepβλέποντεςblepontesG991on lookingβλέψετεblepseteG991,but shall not perceiveG3708;
