Romans 7:1-10
1OrG2228 do you not knowG50, 1brethrenG80 (for I am speakingG2980 to those who knowG1097 the lawG3551), that the lawG3551 hasG2961 jurisdictionG2961 overG2961 a personG444 as longG5550 as he livesG2198? 2For 2the marriedG5220 womanG1135 is boundG1210 by lawG3551 to her 3husbandG435 while he is livingG2198; but ifG1437 her husbandG435 diesG599, she is releasedG2673 from the lawG3551 4concerning the husbandG435. 3SoG686 thenG686, ifG1437 while her husbandG435 is livingG2198 she is joinedG1096 to anotherG2087 manG435, she shall be calledG5537 an adulteressG3428; but ifG1437 her husbandG435 diesG599, she is freeG1658 from the lawG3551, so that she is not an adulteressG3428 though she is joinedG1096 to anotherG2087 manG435.
4ThereforeG5620, my brethrenG80, you alsoG2532 were 5madeG2289 to dieG2289 6to the LawG3551 7throughG1223 the bodyG4983 of ChristG5547, soG1519 that you might be joinedG1096 to anotherG2087, to Him who was raisedG1453 from the deadG3498, in orderG2443 that we might bearG2592 fruitG2592 for GodG2316. 5For whileG3753 we were 8in the fleshG4561, the sinfulG266 passionsG3804, which were 9aroused by the LawG3551, were at workG1754 10in 11the membersG3196 of our body to bearG2592 fruitG2592 for deathG2288. 6But nowG3570 we have been 12releasedG2673 from the LawG3551, having 13diedG599 to that by whichG3739 we were boundG2722, soG5620 that we serveG1398 in 14newnessG2538 of 15the 16SpiritG4151 and not in oldnessG3821 of the letterG1121.
717WhatG5101 shall we sayG3004 thenG3767? Is the LawG3551 sinG266? 18May it neverG3361 be! On the contraryG235, 19I would not have come to knowG1097 sinG266 exceptG1508 20throughG1223 the LawG3551; for I would not have knownG3609 aboutG3609 21covetingG1939 ifG1487 the LawG3551 had not saidG3004, “22You shall not 23covetG1937.” 8But sinG266, 24takingG2983 opportunityG874 25throughG1223 the commandmentG1785, producedG2716 in me 26covetingG1939 of everyG3956 kindG3956; for 27apartG5565 28from the LawG3551 sinG266 is deadG3498. 9I was onceG4218 aliveG2198 apartG5565 29from the LawG3551; but when the commandmentG1785 cameG2064, sinG266 becameG326 aliveG326 and I diedG599; 10and thisG3778 commandmentG1785, which was 3031to resultG1519 in lifeG2222, provedG2147 32to resultG1519 in deathG2288 for me;
