Genesis 21:12-34
12But GodH430 saidH559 to AbrahamH85, “1Do not be distressedH7489 becauseH5921 of the ladH5288 and your maidH519; whateverH3605H834 SarahH8283 tellsH559 you, listenH8085 to her, for 2throughH4480 IsaacH3327 3your descendantsH2233 shall be namedH7121. 13And of 4the sonH1121 of the maidH519 I will makeH7760 a nationH1471 alsoH1571, becauseH3588 he is your 5descendantH2233.” 14So AbrahamH85 roseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 and tookH3947 breadH3899 and a 6skinH2573 of waterH4325 and gaveH5414 them to HagarH1904, puttingH7760 them on her shoulderH7926, and gave her the boyH3206, and sentH7971 her awayH7971. And she departedH1980 and wanderedH8582 about in the wildernessH4057 of BeershebaH884.
15When the waterH4325 in the skinH2573 was usedH3615 up, she 7leftH7993 the boyH3206 underH8478 oneH259 of the bushesH7880. 16Then she wentH1980 and satH3427 downH3427 oppositeH4480H5048 him, about a bowshotH2909H7198 awayH7368, for she saidH559, “Do not let me 8seeH7200 the boyH3206 dieH4194.” And she satH3427 oppositeH4480H5048 him, and 9liftedH5375 up her voiceH6963 and weptH1058. 17GodH430 10heardH8085 the ladH5288 cryingH6963; and the angelH4397 of GodH430 calledH7121 to HagarH1904 from heavenH8064 and saidH559 to her, “WhatH4100 is the matter with you, HagarH1904? 11Do not fearH3372, for GodH430 has heardH8085 the voiceH6963 of the ladH5288 whereH834H8033 he is. 18AriseH6965, liftH5375 up the ladH5288, and holdH2388 him by 12the handH3027, 13for I will makeH7760 a greatH1419 nationH1471 of him.” 19Then GodH430 14openedH6491 her eyesH5869 and she sawH7200 15a wellH875 of waterH4325; and she wentH1980 and filledH4390 the 16skinH2573 with waterH4325 and gaveH8248 the ladH5288 a drinkH8248.
2017GodH430 was with the ladH5288, and he grewH1431; and he 18livedH3427 in the wildernessH4057 and becameH1961 an archerH7235H7199. 2119He 20livedH3427 in the wildernessH4057 of ParanH6290, and his motherH517 tookH3947 a wifeH802 for him from the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
22Now it cameH1961 about at that timeH6256 that 21AbimelechH40 and PhicolH6369, the commanderH8269 of his armyH6635, spokeH559 to AbrahamH85, sayingH559, “22GodH430 is with you in allH3605 that you doH6213; 23nowH6258 therefore, 23swearH7650 to me hereH2008 by GodH430 that you will not dealH8266 falselyH8266 with me or with my offspringH5209 or with my posterityH5220, but according to the kindnessH2617 that I have shownH6213 to you, you shall showH6213 to me and to the landH776 in whichH834 you have sojournedH1481.” 24AbrahamH85 saidH559, “I swearH7650 it.” 25But AbrahamH85 24complainedH3198 to AbimelechH40 becauseH5921H182 of the wellH875 of waterH4325 whichH834 the servantsH5650 of AbimelechH40 25had seizedH1497. 26And AbimelechH40 saidH559, “I do not knowH3045 whoH4310 has doneH6213 thisH2088 thingH1697; you did not tellH5046 me, norH571H3808 did I hearH8085 of it 26untilH1115 todayH3117.”
27AbrahamH85 tookH3947 sheepH6629 and oxenH1241 and gaveH5414 them to AbimelechH40, and 27the twoH8147 of them madeH3772 a covenantH1285. 28Then AbrahamH85 setH5324 sevenH7651 eweH3535 lambsH3535 of the flockH6629 by themselvesH905. 29AbimelechH40 saidH559 to AbrahamH85, “WhatH4100 do theseH428 sevenH7651 eweH3535 lambsH3535 mean, whichH834 you have setH5324 by themselvesH905?” 30He saidH559, “You shall takeH3947 these sevenH7651 eweH3535 lambsH3535 from my handH3027 soH5668 that it may be a 28witnessH5713 to me, that I dugH2658 thisH2088 wellH875.” 31ThereforeH5921H3651 he calledH7121 that placeH4725 29BeershebaH884, becauseH3588 thereH8033 the twoH8147 of them tookH7650 an oathH7650. 32So they madeH3772 a covenantH1285 at BeershebaH884; and AbimelechH40 and PhicolH6369, the commanderH8269 of his armyH6635, aroseH6965 and returnedH7725 to the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430. 33Abraham plantedH5193 a tamariskH815 treeH815 at BeershebaH884, and thereH8033 30he calledH7121 on the nameH8034 of the LordH3068, the 31EverlastingH5769 GodH410. 34And AbrahamH85 sojournedH1481 32in the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430 for manyH7227 daysH3117.
