Genesis 19:4-23
4BeforeH2962 they layH7901 downH7901, 1the menH376 of the cityH5892, the menH376 of SodomH5467, surroundedH5437 the houseH1004, bothH4480 youngH5288 and oldH2205, allH3605 the peopleH5971 2from every quarterH7097; 5and they calledH7121 to LotH3876 and saidH559 to him, “3WhereH346 are the menH376 whoH834 cameH935 to you tonightH3915? BringH3318 them out to us that we may 4haveH3045 relationsH3045 with them.” 6But LotH3876 wentH3318 out to them at the doorwayH6607, and shutH5462 the doorH1817 behindH310 him, 7and saidH559, “PleaseH4994, my brothersH251, do not actH7489 wickedlyH7489. 8NowH4994 beholdH2009, 5I have twoH8147 daughtersH1323 whoH834 have not 6hadH3045 relationsH3045 with manH376; pleaseH4994 let me bringH3318 them out to you, and doH6213 to them 7whateverH2896H5869 you likeH2896H5869; onlyH7534 doH6213 nothingH408H1697 to theseH411 menH376, inasmuchH3588H5921H3651 as they have comeH935 under the 8shelterH6738 of my roofH6982.” 9But they saidH559, “StandH5066 asideH1973.” Furthermore, they saidH559, “This oneH259 cameH935 in 9as an alienH1481, and alreadyH8199 10he is actingH8199 like a judgeH8199; nowH6258 we will treatH7489 you worseH7489 thanH4480 them.” So they pressedH6484 hardH3966 against 11LotH3876 and cameH5066 nearH5066 to breakH7665 the doorH1817. 10But 12the menH376 reachedH7971 out their 13handsH3027 and broughtH935 LotH3876 into the houseH1004 14with them, and shutH5462 the doorH1817. 1115They 16struckH5221 the menH376 whoH834 were at the doorwayH6607 of the houseH1004 with blindnessH5575, bothH4480 smallH6996 and greatH1419, so that they weariedH3811 themselves trying to findH4672 the doorwayH6607.
12Then the two menH376 saidH559 to LotH3876, “WhomH4310 elseH5750 have you hereH6311? A son-in-lawH2860, and your sonsH1121, and your daughtersH1323, and whomeverH3605H834 you have in the cityH5892, bringH3318 them out of the placeH4725; 13for we are about to destroyH7843 thisH2088 placeH4725, becauseH3588 17their outcryH6818 has becomeH1431 soH3588 greatH1431 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 that 18the LordH3068 has sentH7971 us to destroyH7843 it.” 14LotH3876 wentH3318 out and spokeH1696 to his sons-in-lawH2860, who 19were to marryH3947 his daughtersH1323, and saidH559, “Up, 20getH3318 out of thisH2088 placeH4725, for the LordH3068 will destroyH7843 the cityH5892.” 21But he appearedH1961H5869 to his sons-in-lawH2860 22to be jestingH6711.
15WhenH3644 morningH7837 dawnedH5927, the angelsH4397 urgedH213 LotH3876, sayingH559, “Up, takeH3947 your wifeH802 and your twoH8147 daughtersH1323 who are hereH4672, orH6435 you will be sweptH5595 awayH5595 in the 23punishmentH5771 of the cityH5892.” 16But he hesitatedH4102. So the menH376 24seizedH2388 his handH3027 and the handH3027 of his wifeH802 and the 25handsH3027 of his twoH8147 daughtersH1323, for 26the compassionH2551 of the LordH3068 was upon him; and they broughtH3318 him out, and putH5117 him outsideH4480H2351 the cityH5892. 17When they had broughtH3318 them outsideH2351, 27one saidH559, “28EscapeH4422 for your lifeH5315! 29Do not lookH5027 behindH310 you, and do not stayH5975 30anywhereH3605 in the 31valleyH3603; escapeH4422 to 32the 33mountainsH2022, orH6435 you will be sweptH5595 awayH5595.” 18But LotH3876 saidH559 to them, “OhH4994 noH408, my lordsH136! 19NowH4994 beholdH2009, your servantH5650 has foundH4672 favorH2580 in your sightH5869, and you have magnifiedH1431 your lovingkindnessH2617, whichH834 you have shownH6213 me by savingH2421 my lifeH5315; but I cannotH3201H3808 escapeH4422 to the 34mountainsH2022, for the disasterH7463 will overtakeH1692 me and I will dieH4191; 20nowH4994 beholdH2009, thisH2088 townH5892 is nearH7138 enough to fleeH5127 to, and it is smallH4705. PleaseH4994, let me escapeH4422 thereH8033 (is it not smallH4705?) 35that my lifeH5315 may be savedH2421.” 21He saidH559 to him, “BeholdH2009, I grantH5375 you thisH2088 36requestH1697 alsoH1571, not to overthrowH2015 the townH5892 of whichH834 you have spokenH1696. 22HurryH4116, escapeH4422 thereH8033, for I cannotH3201H3808 doH6213 anythingH1697 untilH5704 you arriveH935 thereH8033.” ThereforeH5921H3651 the nameH8034 of the townH5892 was calledH7121 3738ZoarH6820.
23The sunH8121 had risenH3318 overH5921 the earthH776 when LotH3876 cameH935 to ZoarH6820.
