Numbers 35:6-28
And [among] the citiesH5892 that ye shall giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881 [shall be] the sixH8337 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may fleeH5127 thither, — and besides them ye shall giveH5414 forty-two citiesH5892:
all the citiesH5892 that ye shall giveH5414 to the LevitesH3881 shall be forty-eight citiesH5892, they and their suburbs.
And the citiesH5892 which ye shall giveH5414 shall be of the possessionH272 of the children of IsraelH3478: from them that have muchH7235 ye shall takeH5157 muchH7235, and from them that have littleH4592 ye shall takeH5157 littleH4592; each oneH376 according to his inheritanceH5159 which he will inheritH5157 shall giveH5414 of his citiesH5892 to the LevitesH3881.
And Jehovah spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559,
SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 unto them, When ye passH5674 over the JordanH3383 into the landH776 of CanaanH3667,
then ye shall appoint for yourselves citiesH5892: citiesH5892 of refugeH4733 shall they beH1961 for you; that a manslayer may fleeH5127 thither, who without intent smiteth a personH5315 mortally.
And ye shall have these citiesH5892 for refugeH4733 from the avengerH1350; that the manslayer dieH4191 not, until he have stoodH5975 before the assemblyH5712 in judgmentH4941.
And the citiesH5892 that ye shall giveH5414 shall beH1961 sixH8337 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733 for you.
ThreeH7969 citiesH5892 shall ye giveH5414 on this sideH5676 of the JordanH3383, and threeH7969 citiesH5892 shall ye giveH5414 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667; they shall beH1961 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733.
For the children of IsraelH3478, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them shall these sixH8337 citiesH5892 beH1961 a refugeH4733, that one who smiteth a personH5315 mortally without intent may fleeH5127 thither.
And if he have smitten him with an instrument of ironH1270, so that he dieH4191, he is a murdererH7523: the murdererH7523 shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191.
And if he have smitten him with a stoneH68 from the handH3027, wherewith one may dieH4191, and he dieH4191, he is a murdererH7523: the murdererH7523 shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191.
Or if he have smitten him with an instrument of woodH6086, in the handH3027, wherewith one may dieH4191, and he dieH4191, he is a murdererH7523: the murdererH7523 shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191;
the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818, he shall putH4191 the murdererH7523 to deathH4191; when he meeteth him, he shall putH4191 him to deathH4191.
And if he thrust at him out of hatredH8135, or hurl at him intentionally, so that he dieH4191,
or from enmityH342 smite him with his handH3027, so that he dieH4191, he that smote him shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; he is a murdererH7523: the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 shall putH4191 the murdererH7523 to deathH4191, when he meeteth him. —
But if he have thrust at him suddenlyH6621 without enmityH342, or have castH7993 upon him anything unintentionally,
or [have smitten him] with any stoneH68 wherewith one may dieH4191, without seeingH7200 him, and have castH5307 it upon him so that he dieH4191, and he was not his enemyH341, neither soughtH1245 his harmH7451:
then the assemblyH5712 shall judgeH8199 between the smiter and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 according to these judgmentsH4941;
and the assemblyH5712 shall rescueH5337 the manslayer out of the handH3027 of the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818, and the assemblyH5712 shall restoreH7725 him to the cityH5892 of his refugeH4733, whither he had fledH5127; and he shall abide in it until the deathH4194 of the high-priest, who was anointedH4886 with the holyH6944 oilH8081.
But if the manslayer shall in any way comeH3318 outside the limits of the cityH5892 of his refugeH4733 whither he hath fledH5127,
and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 findH4672 him outside the limits of his cityH5892 of refugeH4733, and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 kill the manslayer, there shall be no blood-guiltiness upon him;
for the manslayer should have remainedH3427 in the cityH5892 of his refugeH4733 until the deathH4194 of the high-priest; but after the deathH4194 of the high-priest he may returnH7725 into the landH776 of his possessionH272.
