Leviticus 25:39-46

And if thy brotherH251 grow poor beside thee, and be soldH4376 unto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serveH5647 as a bondservant:

as a hired servant, as a sojourner, shall he beH1961 with thee; until the yearH8141 of jubileeH3104 shall he serveH5647 thee.

Then shall he depart from thee, he and his children with him, and shall returnH7725 unto his ownH272 familyH4940, and unto the possessionH272 of his fathersH1 shall he returnH7725.

For they are my bondmen, whom I broughtH3318 forthH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714: they shall not be soldH4376 as [men] sellH4376 bondmen.

Thou shalt not ruleH7287 over him with rigour; and thou shalt fearH3372 thy 1GodH430.

And as for thy bondman and thy handmaid whom thou shalt have — of the nationsH1471 that are roundH5439 about you, of them shall ye buyH7069 bondmen and handmaids.

Moreover of the children of them that dwell as sojourners with you, of them may ye buyH7069, and of their familyH4940 that is with you, which they beget in your landH776, and they shall beH1961 your possessionH272.

And ye shall leave them as an inheritanceH5157 to your children after you, to inheritH5157 them as a possessionH272: these may ye make your bondmen for everH5769; but as for your brethren, the children of IsraelH3478, ye shall not ruleH7287 over oneH376 another with rigour.
