Kings 17:24-40
And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 broughtH935 [peopleH1121] from BabylonH894, and from CuthahH3575, and from Avva, and from HamathH2574, and from SepharvaimH5617, and made them dwellH3427 in the citiesH5892 of SamariaH8111 instead of the children of IsraelH3478; and they possessedH3423 SamariaH8111, and dweltH3427 in its citiesH5892.
And so it wasH1961, at the beginning of their dwellingH3427 there, that they fearedH3372 not Jehovah; and Jehovah sentH7971 lionsH738 among them, which killedH2026 [some] of them.
And they spoke to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 sayingH559, The nationsH1471 that thou hast removed and madeH3045 to dwellH3427 in the citiesH5892 of SamariaH8111 knowH3045 not the manner of the 1godH430 of the landH776; therefore he has sentH7971 lionsH738 among them, and behold, they slay them, because they knowH3045 not the manner of the 2godH430 of the landH776.
And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 commandedH6680 sayingH559, Carry thither oneH259 of the priestsH3548 whom ye have brought away from thence; and let them goH1540 and abide there, and let him teachH3384 them the manner of the 3godH430 of the landH776.
Then oneH259 of the priestsH3548 whom they had carried away from SamariaH8111 cameH935 and abode in Bethel, and taughtH3384 them howH349 they should fearH3372 Jehovah.
And every nationH1471 madeH6213 4godsH430 of their own, and put them in the housesH1004 of the highH1116 placesH1116 that the Samaritans had madeH6213, every nationH1471 in their citiesH5892 in which they dweltH3427.
And the people of BabylonH894 madeH6213 Succoth-benoth, and the people of Cuth madeH6213 Nergal, and the people of HamathH2574 madeH6213 Ashima,
and the Avvites madeH6213 Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnedH8313 their children in the fireH784 to AdrammelechH152 and Anammelech the 5gods of SepharvaimH5617.
So they fearedH3372 Jehovah, and madeH6213 to themselves from all classes of them priestsH3548 of the highH1116 placesH1116, who offered [sacrifices] for them in the housesH1004 of the highH1116 placesH1116.
They fearedH3372 Jehovah, and servedH5647 their own 6godsH430 after the manner of the nationsH1471, whence they had beenH1961 carried away.
To this dayH3117 they do after their formerH7223 customsH2708: they fearH3372 not Jehovah, neither do they after their statutesH2708 or after their ordinancesH4941, nor after the lawH8451 and commandmentH4687 that Jehovah commandedH6680 the sonsH1121 of JacobH3290, whom he namedH8034 IsraelH3478.
And Jehovah had madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with them, and charged them sayingH559, Ye shall not fearH3372 otherH312 7godsH430, nor bowH7812 downH7812 yourselves to them, nor serveH5647 them, nor sacrificeH2076 to them;
but Jehovah alone, who broughtH5927 you up out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 with greatH1419 power and a stretched-outH5186 armH2220, him shall ye fearH3372, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrificeH2076.
And the statutesH2706 and the ordinancesH4941 and the lawH8451, and the commandmentH4687 which he wroteH3789 for you, ye shall observeH8104 to do for evermore; and ye shall not fearH3372 otherH312 8godsH430.
And ye shall not forgetH7911 the covenantH1285 that I have madeH3772 with you, neither shall ye fearH3372 otherH312 9godsH430;
but ye shall fearH3372 Jehovah your 10GodH430, and he shall deliverH5337 you out of the handH3027 of all your enemiesH341.
And they did not hearken, but did after their formerH7223 customsH4941.
