Jeremiah 25
Revised Version 1895
1The wordH1697 that cameH1961 to JeremiahH3414 concerning allH3605 the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063 in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of JehoiakimH3079 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977, kingH4428 of JudahH3063; the sameH1931 was the firstH7224 yearH8141 of NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894; 2the whichH834 JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030 spake unto allH3605 the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063, and to allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, sayingH559: 3From the thirteenth yearH8141 of JosiahH2977 the sonH1121 of AmonH526, kingH4428 of JudahH3063, evenH5704 unto this dayH3117, theseH2088 threeH7969 and twentyH6242 yearsH8141, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 hath comeH1961 unto meH413, and I have spokenH1696 unto youH3117, risingH7925 upH7925 earlyH7925 and speakingH1696; but ye have notH3808 hearkened. 4And the LORDH3068 hath sentH7971 unto youH3605 allH3605 his servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, risingH7925 upH7925 earlyH7925 and sendingH7971 them; but ye have notH3808 hearkened, norH3808 inclinedH5186 your earH241 to hearH8085; 5sayingH559, ReturnH7725 ye nowH4994 everyH376 one from his evilH7451 wayH1870, and from the evilH7451 of your doingsH4611, and dwellH3427 in the landH127 that the LORDH3068 hath givenH5414 unto youH834 and to your fathersH1, from of oldH5769 and evenH5704 for evermore: 6and go notH3808 afterH310 otherH312 godsH430 to serveH5647 them, and to worshipH7812 them, and provokeH3707 meH310 notH3808 to angerH3707 with the workH4639 of your handsH3027; and I will doH5647 youH3808 noH3808 hurt. 7Yet ye have notH3808 hearkened unto meH413, saith the LORDH3068; that ye might provokeH3707 meH413 to angerH3707 with the workH4639 of your handsH3027 to your own hurt. 8Therefore thusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635; BecauseH3282 ye have notH3808 heardH8085 my wordsH1697, 9beholdH2005, I will sendH7971 and takeH3947 allH3605 the familiesH4940 of the northH6828, saith the LORDH3068, and I will sendH7971 unto NebuchadrezzarH5019 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, my servantH5650, and will bringH935 them againstH5921 this landH776, and againstH5921 the inhabitantsH3427 thereof, and againstH5921 allH3605 theseH428 nationsH1471 roundH5439 aboutH5439; and I will utterly destroyH2763 them, and makeH7760 them an astonishment, and an hissingH8322, and perpetualH5769 desolationsH8047. 10Moreover I will takeH6 from them the voiceH6963 of mirthH8057 and the voiceH6963 of gladnessH8057, the voiceH6963 of the bridegroom and the voiceH6963 of the brideH3618, the soundH6963 of the millstonesH7347, and the lightH216 of the candle. 11And this wholeH3605 landH776 shall be a desolationH8047, and an astonishment; and theseH428 nationsH1471 shall serveH5647 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 seventyH7657 yearsH8141. 12And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961, when seventyH7657 yearsH8141 are accomplishedH4390, that I will punishH6485 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and that nationH1471, saith the LORDH3068, for their iniquityH5771, and the landH776 of the ChaldeansH3778; and I will makeH7760 it desolateH8077 for everH5769. 13And I will bringH935 uponH5921 that landH776 allH3605 my wordsH1697 whichH834 I have pronouncedH1696 againstH5921 it, evenH853 allH3605 that is writtenH3789 in this bookH5612, whichH834 JeremiahH3414 hath prophesiedH5012 againstH5921 allH3605 the nationsH1471. 14For manyH7227 nationsH1471 and greatH1419 kingsH4428 shall serveH5647 themselvesH1992 of them, evenH1571 of them: and I will recompense them accordingH3027 to their deedsH4639, and accordingH3027 to the workH4639 of their handsH3027. 15For thusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, unto meH413: TakeH3947 the cupH3563 of the wineH3196 of this furyH2534 at my handH3027, and cause allH3605 the nationsH1471, to whomH834 I sendH7971 thee, to drinkH8248 it. 16And they shall drinkH8354, and reel to and fro, and be mad, becauseH834 of the swordH2719 that I will sendH7971 among them. 17Then tookH3947 I the cupH3563 at the LORD’SH3068 handH3027, and madeH3605 allH3605 the nationsH1471 to drinkH8248, unto whomH834 the LORDH3068 had sentH7971 meH413: 18to wit, JerusalemH3389, and the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and the kingsH4428 thereof, and the princesH8269 thereof, to makeH5414 them a desolationH8047, an astonishment, an hissingH8322, and a curseH7045; as it is this dayH3117; 19PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and his servantsH5650, and his princesH8269, and allH3605 his peopleH5971; 20and allH3605 the mingled peopleH776, and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the landH776 of UzH5780, and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430, and AshkelonH831, and GazaH5804, and EkronH6138, and the remnantH7611 of AshdodH795; 21EdomH123, and MoabH4124, and the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983; 22and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of TyreH6865, and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of Zidon, and the kingsH4428 of the isle whichH834 is beyondH5676 the seaH3220; 23DedanH1719, and TemaH8485, and BuzH938, and allH3605 that have the cornersH6285 of their hair polled; 24and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of ArabiaH6152, and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the mingled people that dwellH7931 in the wildernessH4057; 25and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of ZimriH2174, and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of ElamH5867, and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the MedesH4074; 26and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the northH6828, farH7350 and nearH7138, one with anotherH251; and allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the worldH776, whichH834 are uponH5921 the faceH6440 of the earthH776: and the kingH4428 of SheshachH8347 shall drinkH8354 afterH310 them. 27And thou shalt sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: DrinkH8354 ye, and be drunken, and spue, and fallH5307, and riseH6965 noH3808 moreH3808, becauseH834 of the swordH2719 whichH834 I will sendH7971 among youH834. 28And it shall be, ifH3588 they refuseH3985 to takeH3947 the cupH3563 at thine handH3027 to drinkH8354, then shalt thou sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635: Ye shall surelyH3588 drinkH8354. 29For, loH2009, I beginH2490 to work evilH7489 at the cityH5892 whichH834 is calledH7121 by my nameH8034, and should ye be utterly unpunishedH5352? Ye shall notH3808 be unpunishedH5352: for I will callH7121 for a swordH2719 uponH5921 allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the earthH776, saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635. 30Therefore prophesyH5012 thou againstH5921 them allH3605 theseH428 wordsH1697, and sayH559 unto them, The LORDH3068 shall roarH7580 from on highH4791, and utterH5414 his voiceH6963 from his holyH6944 habitationH4583; he shall mightilyH7580 roarH7580 againstH5921 his fold; he shall giveH5414 a shoutH6963, as they that treadH1869 the grapes, againstH5921 allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the earthH776. 31A noiseH7588 shall comeH935 evenH5704 to the endH7097 of the earthH776; for the LORDH3068 hath a controversyH7379 with the nationsH1471, he will pleadH8199 with allH3605 fleshH1320; as for the wickedH7563, he will giveH5414 them to the swordH2719, saith the LORDH3068. 32ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, BeholdH2009, evilH7451 shall goH3318 forthH3318 from nationH1471 to nationH1471, and a greatH1419 tempestH5591 shall be raised upH5782 from the uttermost partsH3411 of the earthH776. 33And the slainH2491 of the LORDH3068 shall be at that dayH3117 from one endH7097 of the earthH776 evenH5704 unto the other endH7097 of the earthH776: they shall notH3808 be lamentedH5594, neitherH3808 gatheredH622, norH3808 buriedH6912; they shall be dungH1828 uponH5921 the faceH6440 of the groundH776. 34HowlH3213, ye shepherdsH7462, and cryH2199; and wallowH6428 yourselves in ashes, ye principal of the flockH6629: for the daysH3117 of your slaughterH2873 are fullyH4390 comeH5307, and I will break youH3588 in pieces, and ye shall fallH5307 like a pleasantH2532 vesselH3627. 35And the shepherdsH7462 shall have noH4480 way to flee, norH4480 the principal of the flockH6629 to escapeH6413. 36A voiceH6963 of the cryH6818 of the shepherdsH7462, and the howling of the principal of the flockH6629! for the LORDH3068 layeth wasteH7703 their pastureH4830. 37And the peaceable folds are brought to silence becauseH6440 of the fierceH2740 angerH639 of the LORDH3068. 38He hath forsaken his covert, as the lionH3715: for their landH776 is becomeH1961 an astonishment becauseH3588 of the fiercenessH2740 of the oppressingH3238 sword, and becauseH3588 of his fierceH2740 angerH639.
