Isaiah 63
1WhoH4310 is thisH2088 comingH935 from EdomH123, from BozrahH1224 with crimson-stainedH2556 garmentsH899? Who is thisH2088 robedH3830 in splendorH1921, marchingH6808 in the greatnessH7230 of His strengthH3581?
2WhyH4069 are Your clothesH3830 redH122,and Your garmentsH899 like one who treadsH1869 the winepressH1660?
3“I have troddenH1869 the winepress aloneH6333H905,and noH369 oneH376 from the nationsH5971 was with MeH854.I trampled themH1869 in My angerH639and trod them downH7429 in My furyH2534;their bloodH5332H5921 spatteredH5137 My garmentsH899,and allH3605 My clothesH4403 were stainedH1351.4ForH3588 the dayH3117 of vengeanceH5359 was in My heartH3820,and the yearH8141 of My redemptionH1350 had comeH935.5I lookedH5027, but there was no oneH369 to helpH5826;I was appalledH8074 that noH369 one assistedH5564.So My armH2220 brought Me salvationH3467,and My own wrathH2534H1931 upheld MeH5564.
God’s Mercies Recalled
6I trampledH947 the nationsH5971 in My angerH639; in My wrathH2534 I made them drunkH7937 and poured outH3381 their bloodH5332 on the groundH776.”
7I will make knownH2142 the LORD’sH3068 loving devotionH2617andH3068 His praiseworthy actsH8416,because ofH5921 allH3605 thatH834 the LORDH3068 has done for usH1580—the manyH7227 good thingsH2898 for the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478according to His great compassionH7356 and loving devotionH2617.
8For He saidH559, “TheyH1992 are surelyH389 My peopleH5971,sonsH1121 who will notH3808 be disloyalH8266.”So He becameH1961 their SaviorH3467.9In allH3605 their distressH6869H3808, He too was afflictedH6862,and the AngelH4397 of His PresenceH64402 saved themH3467.In His loveH160 and compassionH2551 HeH1931 redeemed themH1350;He lifted them upH5190 and carried themH5375allH3605 the daysH3117 of oldH5769.
10But theyH1992 rebelledH4784and grievedH6087 His HolyH6944 SpiritH7307.So He turnedH2015 and became their enemyH341,and He HimselfH1931 foughtH3898 against them.
11Then His peopleH5971 rememberedH2142 the daysH3117 of oldH5769,the days of MosesH4872.WhereH346 is He who brought themH5927 through the seaH3220withH854 the shepherdsH7462 of His flockH6629?WhereH346 is the One who setH7760His HolyH6944 SpiritH7307 amongH7130 themH853,12who sentH1980 His gloriousH8597 armH2220to lead them by the right handH3225 of MosesH4872,who dividedH1234 the watersH4325 before themH6440to gainH6213 for Himself everlastingH5769 renownH8034,13who led themH1980 through the depthsH8415like a horseH5483 in the wildernessH4057,so that they did notH3808 stumbleH3782?
A Prayer for Mercy
(Jeremiah 14:19–22)
14Like cattleH929 going downH3381 to the valleyH1237, the SpiritH7307 of the LORDH3068 gave them restH5117. You ledH5090 Your peopleH5971 this wayH3651 to makeH6213 for Yourself a gloriousH8597 nameH8034.
15Look downH5027 from heavenH8064 and seeH7200,from Your holyH6944 and gloriousH8597 habitationH2073.WhereH346 are Your zealH7068 and mightH1369?Your yearningH1995H4578 and compassionH7356 for meH413 are restrainedH662.16YetH3588 YouH859 are our FatherH1,thoughH3588 AbrahamH85 does notH3808 know usH3045and IsraelH3478 does notH3808 acknowledge usH5234.YouH859, O LORDH3068, are our FatherH1;our RedeemerH1350 from EverlastingH5769 is Your nameH8034.
17WhyH4100, O LORDH3068, do You make us strayH8582 from Your waysH1870and hardenH7188 our heartsH3820 from fearing YouH3374?ReturnH7725, for the sakeH4616 of Your servantsH5650,the tribesH7626 of Your heritageH5159.18For a short whileH4705 Your peopleH5971 possessedH3423 Your holy placeH6944,but our enemiesH6862 have trampledH947 Your sanctuaryH4720.19We have becomeH1961 like those You neverH5769H3808 ruledH4910,like those notH3808 calledH7121 by Your nameH8034H5921.
