Here Is My Servant

(Matthew 12:15–21)

1“Here isH2005 My ServantH5650, whom I upholdH8551,My Chosen OneH972, in whom My soulH5315 delightsH7521.I will putH5414 My SpiritH7307 on HimH5921,and He will bringH3318 justiceH4941 to the nationsH1471.2He will notH3808 cry outH6817 or raiseH5375 His voice,norH3808 make His voiceH6963 heardH8085 in the streetsH2351.3A bruisedH7533 reedH7070 He will notH3808 breakH7665and a smolderingH3544 wickH6594 He will notH3808 extinguishH3518;He will faithfullyH571 bring forthH3318 justiceH4941.4He will notH3808 grow weakH3543H3808 or discouragedH75331beforeH5704 He has establishedH7760 justiceH4941 on the earthH776.In His lawH8451 the islandsH339 will put their hopeH3176.”2
5This is whatH3541 GodH410 the LORDH3068 saysH559—He who createdH1254 the heavensH8064and stretched them outH5186,who spread outH7554 the earthH776 and its offspringH6631,who givesH5414 breathH5397 to the peopleH5971 on itH5921and lifeH7307 to those who walkH1980 in it:
6“IH589, the LORDH3068, have called youH7121for a righteous purposeH6664,and I will take holdH2388 of your handH3027.I will keep youH5341 and appoint youH5414to be a covenantH1285 for the peopleH5971and a lightH216 to the nationsH1471,7to openH6491 the eyesH5869 of the blindH5787,to bringH3318 prisonersH616 out of the dungeonH4525and those sittingH3427 in darknessH2822out from the prisonH3608 houseH1004.
8IH589 am the LORDH3068;thatH1931 is My nameH8034!I will notH3808 yieldH5414 My gloryH3519 to anotherH312or My praiseH8416 to idolsH6456.

A New Song of Praise

(Psalm 98:1–9; Psalm 149:1–9)

9BeholdH2009, the former thingsH7223 have happenedH935, and now IH589 declareH5046 new thingsH2319. BeforeH2962 they spring forthH6779 I proclaim themH8085 to youH853.”

10SingH7891 to the LORDH3068 a newH2319 songH7892—His praiseH8416 from the endsH7097 of the earthH776—you who go downH3381 to the seaH3220, and all that is in itH4393,you islandsH339,3 and all who dwell in themH3427.11Let the desertH4057 and its citiesH5892 raise their voicesH5375;let the villagesH2691 of KedarH6938 cry aloud.Let the peopleH3427 of SelaH5554 sing for joyH7442;let them cry outH6681 from the mountaintopsH7218H2022.12Let them giveH7760 gloryH3519 to the LORDH3068and declareH5046 His praiseH8416 in the islandsH339.13The LORDH3068 goes forthH3318 like a mighty oneH1368;He stirs upH5782 His zealH7068 like a warriorH376H4421.He shoutsH7321; yesH637, He roarsH6873in triumphH1396 overH5921 His enemiesH341:
14“I have kept silentH2814 from ages pastH5769;I have remained quietH2790 and restrainedH662.But now I will groanH6463 like a woman in laborH3205;I will at onceH3162 gaspH5395 and pantH7602.15I will lay wasteH2717 the mountainsH2022 and hillsH1389and dry upH3001 allH3605 their vegetationH6212.I will turnH7760 the riversH5104 into dry landH3394and drainH3001 the marshesH98.16I will leadH1980 the blindH5787 by a wayH1870 they did notH3808 knowH3045;I will guide themH1869 on unfamiliarH3808H3045 pathsH5410.I will turnH7760 darknessH4285 into lightH216 before themH6440and rough placesH4625 into level groundH4334.TheseH428 thingsH1697 I will do for themH6213,and I will notH3808 forsake themH5800.

Israel Is Deaf and Blind

17But those who trustH982 in idolsH6459 and sayH559 to molten imagesH4541, ‘YouH859 are our godsH430!’ will be turnedH5472 backH268 in utterH1322 shameH954.

18ListenH8085, you deafH2795 ones;lookH5027, you blindH5787 ones, that you may seeH7200!19WhoH4310 is blindH5787 butH3588H518 My servantH5650,or deafH2795 like the messengerH4397 I am sendingH7971?WhoH4310 is blindH5787 like My covenant partnerH7999,or blindH5787 like the servantH5650 of the LORDH3068?20Though seeingH7200 many thingsH7227, you do notH3808 keep watchH8104.Though your earsH241 are openH6491, you do notH3808 hearH8085.”
21The LORDH3068 was pleasedH2654, for the sake ofH4616 His righteousnessH6664,to magnifyH1431 His lawH8451 and make it gloriousH142.22But thisH1931 is a peopleH5971 plunderedH962 and lootedH8154,allH3605 trappedH6351 in cavesH2352 or imprisonedH2244 in dungeonsH1004H3608.They have becomeH1961 plunderH957 with noH369 one to rescue themH5337,and lootH4933 with noH369 one to sayH559, “Send them backH7725!”23WhoH4310 among you will pay attentionH238 to thisH2063?Who will listenH7181 and obeyH8085 hereafterH268?24WhoH4310 gaveH5414 JacobH3290 up for spoilH4882,and IsraelH3478 to the plunderersH962?Was it notH3808 the LORDH3068,against whomH2098 we have sinnedH2398?They were unwillingH3808H14 to walkH1980 in His waysH1870,and they would notH3808 obeyH8085 His lawH8451.25So He poured outH8210 on themH5921 His furiousH2534 angerH639and the fiercenessH5807 of battleH4421.It enveloped themH5439 in flamesH3857,but they did notH3808 understandH3045;it consumed themH1197,but they did notH3808 takeH7760 it toH5921 heartH3820.
