Isaiah 22
1This is the burdenH4853 against the ValleyH1516 of VisionH2384:
On thatH1931 dayH3117 you lookedH5027 toH413 the weaponsH5402 in the HouseH1004 of the ForestH3293. 9You sawH7200 thatH3588 there were manyH7231 breachesH1233 in the walls of the CityH5892 of DavidH1732. You collectedH6908 waterH4325 from the lowerH8481 poolH1295. 10You countedH5608 the housesH1004 of JerusalemH3389 and tore them downH5422H1004 to strengthenH1219 the wallH2346. 11You builtH6213 a reservoirH4724 betweenH996 the wallsH2346 for the watersH4325 of the ancientH3465 poolH1295, but you did notH3808 lookH5027 toH413 the One who made itH6213, or considerH7200 Him who plannedH3335 it long agoH7350H3808.
14The LORDH3068 of HostsH6635 has revealedH1540 in my hearingH241:
A Message for Shebna
15This is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069 of HostsH6635 saysH559: “GoH1980, say toH413 ShebnaH7644, theH2088 stewardH5532 in charge ofH5921 the palaceH1004: 16WhatH4100 are you doing hereH6311, and whoH4310 authorized youH6311H3588 to carve outH2672 a tombH6913 for yourself hereH6311—to chiselH2672 your tombH6913 in the heightH4791 and cutH2710 your resting placeH4908 in the rockH5553?
17LookH2009, O mighty manH1397! The LORDH3068 is about to shake you violentlyH2904H2925. He will take holdH5844 of youH5844, 18roll youH6801H6802 into a ballH1754, and sling you intoH413 a wideH7342H3027 landH776. ThereH8033 you will dieH4191, and thereH8033 your gloriousH3519 chariots will remainH4818—a disgraceH7036 to the houseH1004 of your masterH113. 19I will remove youH1920 from officeH4673, and you will be oustedH2040 from your positionH4612.
On thatH1931 dayH3117 I will summonH7121 My servantH5650, EliakimH471 sonH1121 of HilkiahH2518. 21I will clothe himH3847 with your robeH3801 and tie your sashH73 around himH2388. I will putH5414 your authorityH4475 in his handH3027, and he will beH1961 a fatherH1 to the dwellersH3427 of JerusalemH3389 and to the houseH1004 of JudahH3063. 22I will placeH5414 onH5921 his shoulderH7926 the keyH4668 to the houseH1004 of DavidH1732. What he opensH6605 noH369 one can shutH5462, and what he shutsH5462 noH369 one can openH6605.2 23I will drive himH8628 like a pegH3489 into a firmH539 placeH4725, and he will beH1961 a throneH3678 of gloryH3519 for the houseH1004 of his fatherH1.
24So they will hangH8518 on himH5921 allH3605 the gloryH3519 of his father’sH1 houseH1004: the descendantsH6631 and the offshootsH6849—allH3605 the lesserH6996H3627 vesselsH3627, from bowlsH101 toH5704 every kindH3605H3627 of jarH5035.
25In thatH1931 dayH3117, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635, the pegH3489 drivenH8628 into a firmH539 placeH4725 will give wayH4185; it will be sheared offH1438 and fallH5307, and the loadH4853 upon itH5921 will be cut downH3772.”
