Isaiah 9
(Matthew 4:12–17; Mark 1:14–15; Luke 4:14–15)
1NeverthelessH3588, there will be no moreH3808 gloomH4155 for thoseH834 in distressH4164. In the pastH7223H6256 He humbledH7043 the landH776 of ZebulunH2074 and the landH776 of NaphtaliH5321, but in the futureH314 He will honorH3513 the WayH1870 of the SeaH3220, beyondH5676 the JordanH3383, GalileeH1551 of the nationsH1471:
Judgment against Israel’s Pride
7Of the increaseH4766 of His governmentH4951 and peaceH7965 there will be noH369 endH7093. He will reign onH5921 the throneH3678 of DavidH1732 and overH5921 his kingdomH4467, to establishH3559 and sustain itH5582 with justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666 from that timeH6258 and forevermoreH5704H5769.
Judgment against Israel’s Hypocrisy
12AramH7583 from the eastH6924 and PhilistiaH6430 from the westH268 have devouredH398 IsraelH3478 with openH3605 mouthsH6310.
Judgment against Israel’s Unrepentance
17ThereforeH5921H3651 the LordH136 takes noH3808 pleasureH8055 inH5921 their young menH970; He has noH3808 compassionH7355 on their fatherlessH3490 andH853 widowsH490. ForH3588 every one of themH3605 is godlessH2611 and wickedH7489, and everyH3605 mouthH6310 speaksH1696 follyH5039.
