The Valley of Vision
1The pronouncementH4853 concerning the 1valleyH1516 of visionH2384: WhatH4100 is the matter with you nowH645, that you have allH3605 goneH5927 upH5927 to the 2housetopsH1406?2You who were fullH4392 of noiseH8663, You tumultuousH1993 townH5892, you 3jubilantH5947 cityH7151; Your deadH2491 were 4not killedH2491 with the swordH2719, NorH3808 5did they dieH4191 in battleH4421.36AllH3605 your rulersH7101 have fledH5074 togetherH3162, And have been capturedH631 7withoutH4480 the bowH7198; AllH3605 of you who were foundH4672 were takenH631 captiveH631 togetherH3164, 8Though they had fledH1272 farH7350 away.4ThereforeH5921H3651 I sayH559, “LookH8159 awayH8159 from me, Let me 9weepH1065 bitterlyH4843, Do not 10tryH213 to comfortH5162 me concerningH5921 the destructionH7701 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971.”511For the LordH136 12GodH3068 of armiesH6635 has a 13dayH3117 of panicH4103, 14subjugationH4001, and confusionH3998 15In the valleyH1516 of visionH2384, A breakingH7175 downH7175 of wallsH7023 And a cryingH7771 16to the mountainH2022.617ElamH5867 pickedH5375 upH5375 the quiverH827, With the chariotsH7393, 18infantryH120, and horsemenH6571; And 19KirH7024 uncoveredH6168 the shieldH4043.7Then your choicestH4005 valleysH6010 were fullH4390 of chariotsH7393, And the horsemenH6571 tookH7896 positionsH7896 at the gateH8179.8And He removedH1540 the 20defenseH4539 of JudahH3063. On that dayH3117 you 21dependedH5027 on the weaponsH5402 of the 22houseH1004 of the forestH3293,9And you sawH7200 that the breachesH1233 In the wall of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732 wereH7231 manyH7231; And you 23collectedH6908 the watersH4325 of the lowerH8481 poolH1295.10Then you countedH5608 the housesH1004 of JerusalemH3389 And toreH5422 downH5422 housesH1004 to fortifyH1219 the wallH2346.11And you madeH6213 a reservoirH4724 24betweenH996 the twoH2346 wallsH2346 For the watersH4325 of the 25oldH3465 poolH1295. But you did not 26dependH5027 on Him who madeH6213 it, NorH3808 did you 27takeH7200 intoH7200 considerationH7200 Him who plannedH3335 it longH7350 agoH7350.
12Therefore on that dayH3117 the LordH136 28GodH3068 of armiesH6635 calledH7121 you to 29weepingH1065, to wailingH4553, To 30shavingH7144 theH7144 headH7144, and to wearingH2296 sackclothH8242.13Instead, there is 31joyH8342 and jubilationH8057, KillingH2026 of cattleH1241 and slaughteringH7819 of sheepH6629, EatingH398 of meatH1320 and drinkingH8354 of wineH3196: “32Let’s eatH398 and drinkH8354, for tomorrowH4279 we may dieH4191.”14But the LordH3068 of armiesH6635 revealedH1540 Himself 33to me: “CertainlyH518 thisH2088 34wrongdoingH5771 35will not be 36forgivenH3722 you 37UntilH5704 you dieH4191,” saysH559 the LordH136 38GodH3068 of armiesH6635.
15ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH136 39GodH3068 of armiesH6635 saysH559: “ComeH1980, goH935 to thisH2088 stewardH5532, To 40ShebnaH7644 whoH834 is inH5921 chargeH5921 ofH5921 the royal householdH1004,16‘WhatH4100 right do you have hereH6311, And whomH4310 do you have hereH6311, That you have 41cutH2672 outH2672 a tombH6913 for yourself hereH6311, You who cutH2672 outH2672 a tombH6913 on the heightH4791, You who carveH2710 a restingH4908 placeH4908 for 42yourself in the rockH5553?17BeholdH2009, the LordH3068 is about to hurlH2904 you violentlyH2925, you strongH1397 manH1397. And He is about to graspH5844 you firmlyH584418And wrapH6801 you upH6801 tightlyH6801 like a ballH1754, To be 43driven into a vastH7342 countryH776; ThereH8033 you will dieH4191, And thereH8033 your splendidH3519 chariotsH4818 will be, You shameH7036 of your master’sH113 houseH1004!’19I will 44deposeH1920 you from your officeH4673, And 45I will pullH2040 you downH2040 from your positionH4612.20Then it will comeH1961 aboutH1961 on that dayH3117, That I will summonH7121 My servantH5650 46EliakimH471 the sonH1121 of HilkiahH2518,21And I will clotheH3847 him with your tunicH3801 And tieH2388 your sashH73 securelyH2388 around him. I will handH5414H3027 your 47authorityH4475 overH5414 to him, And he will becomeH1961 a 48fatherH1 to the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 and to the houseH1004 of JudahH3063.22Then I will putH5414 49the keyH4668 of the 50houseH1004 of DavidH1732 on his shoulderH7926; When he opensH6605, noH369 oneH369 will shutH5462, When he shutsH5462, noH369 oneH369 will 51openH6605.23I will driveH8628 him like a 52pegH3489 in a firmH539 placeH4725, And he will becomeH1961 a 53throneH3678 of gloryH3519 to his father’sH1 houseH1004. 24So they will hangH8518 on him allH3605 the gloryH3519 of his father’sH1 houseH1004, the offspringH6631 and the 54descendantsH6849, allH3605 the leastH6996 of vesselsH3627, from bowlsH3627H101 to allH3605 the jarsH3627H5035. 25On that dayH3117,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068 of armiesH6635, “the 55pegH3489 drivenH8628 into a firmH539 placeH4725 will giveH4185 wayH4185; it will even 56breakH1438 offH1438 and fallH5307, and the loadH4853 that is hanging on it will be cutH3772 offH3772, for the 57LordH3068 has spokenH1696.”
