28

Now Jacob had sentH7971 JudahH3063 ahead of himH6440 toH413 JosephH3130 to get directionsH3384H6440 to GoshenH1657. When Jacob’s family arrivedH935 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657, 29JosephH3130 preparedH631 his chariotH4818 and wentH5927 there to meetH7122 his fatherH1 IsraelH3478. Joseph presented himselfH7200 to himH413, embracedH5307H5921 himH6677, and weptH1058H5921H6677 profuselyH5750.

30Then IsraelH3478 saidH559 toH413 JosephH3130, “Finally I can dieH4191, nowH6471H310 that I have seenH7200 your faceH6440 and know thatH3588 you are stillH5750 aliveH2416!”

31JosephH3130 saidH559 toH413 his brothersH251 and toH413 his father’sH1 householdH1004, “I will go upH5927 and informH5046 PharaohH6547: ‘My brothersH251 and my father’sH1 householdH1004 from the landH776 of CanaanH3667 have comeH935 to meH413. 32The menH582 are shepherdsH7462H6629; they raise livestockH4735H1961, and they have broughtH935 their flocksH6629 and herdsH1241 and allH3605 thatH834 they own.’

WhenH3588 PharaohH6547 summonsH7121 you and asksH559, ‘WhatH4100 is your occupationH4639?’ 34you are to sayH559, ‘Your servantsH5650H582 have raised livestockH4735H1961 ever since our youthH5271H5704H6258—bothH1571 weH587 andH1571 our fathersH1.’ ThenH5668 you will be allowed to settleH3427 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657, sinceH3588 allH3605 shepherdsH7462H6629 are detestableH8441 to the EgyptiansH4713.”
