Romans 10

American Standard Version

1Brethren, my heart’sG2588 desire and my supplicationG1162 to GodG2316 is for them, that they may be saved. 2For I bearG3140 them witnessG3140 that they have a zealG2205 for GodG2316, but not accordingG2596 to knowledgeG1922. 3For being ignorantG50 of God’s righteousnessG1343, and seekingG2212 to establishG2476 their ownG2398, they did not subjectG5293 themselves to the righteousnessG1343 of GodG2316. 4For ChristG5547 is the endG5056 of the lawG3551 unto righteousnessG1343 to every oneG3588 that believeth. 5For MosesG3475 writeth that the manG444 that doeth the righteousnessG1343 which is of the lawG3551 shall liveG2198 thereby. 6But the righteousnessG1343 which isG1510 of faithG4102 saith thusG3779, SayG3004 not in thy heartG2588, Who shall ascendG305 into heavenG3772? (that isG1510, to bringG2609 ChristG5547 downG2609:) 7or, Who shall descendG2597 into the abyssG12? (that isG1510, to bringG321 ChristG5547 up from the deadG3498.) 8But what saith it? The word isG1510 nigh thee, in thy mouthG4750, and in thy heartG2588: that isG1510, the word of faithG4102, which we preachG2784: 9because if thou shalt confessG3670 with thy mouthG4750 JesusG2424 as LordG2962, and shalt believeG4100 in thy heartG2588 that GodG2316 raisedG1453 him from the deadG3498, thou shalt be savedG4982: 10for with the heartG2588 man believeth unto righteousnessG1343; and with the mouthG4750 confession is made unto salvationG4991. 11For the scriptureG1124 saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shameG2617. 12For there isG1510 no distinctionG1293 between JewG2453 and GreekG1672: for the sameG846 LordG2962 isG1510 LordG2962 of all, and isG1510 richG4147 unto all that callG1941 upon him: 13for, Whosoever shall callG1941 upon the nameG3686 of the LordG2962 shall be savedG4982. 14HowG4459 thenG3767 shall they callG1941 on him in whom they have not believedG4100? and howG4459 shall they believeG4100 in him whom they have not heardG191? and howG4459 shall they hearG191 without a preacher? 15and howG4459 shall they preachG2784, except they be sentG649? even as it is writtenG1125, HowG4459 beautifulG5611 are the feetG4228 of them that bringG2097 glad tidings of goodG18 thingsG18!

16But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For IsaiahG2268 saith, LordG2962, who hath believedG4100 our reportG189? 17So belief cometh of hearingG189, and hearingG189 by the word of ChristG5547. 18But I sayG3004, Did they not hearG191? Yea, verily,

Their sound wentG1831 out into all the earthG1093,And their words unto the endsG4009 of the worldG3625.

19But I sayG3004, Did IsraelG2474 not knowG1097? FirstG4413 MosesG3475 saith,

I will provoke you to jealousyG3863 with that which is no nationG1484,With a nationG1484 void of understandingG801 will I anger you.

20And IsaiahG2268 is very bold, and saith,

I was foundG2147 of them that soughtG2212 me not;I becameG1096 manifest unto them that askedG1905 not of me.

21But as to IsraelG2474 he saith, All the dayG2250 long did I spread out my handsG5495 unto a disobedientG544 and gainsaying peopleG2992.
