Genesis 42:2-34
2And he saidH559, Behold, I have heardH8085 that there is grainH7668 in EgyptH4714: get you downH3381 thither, and buyH7666 for us from thence; that we may liveH2421, and not dieH4191. 3And Joseph’s tenH6235 brethren wentH3381 downH3381 to buyH7666 grainH1250 from EgyptH4714. 4But BenjaminH1144, Joseph’s brotherH251, JacobH3290 sentH7971 not with his brethren; for he saidH559, LestH6435 peradventure harmH611 befall him. 5And the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 cameH935 to buyH7666 among those that cameH935: for the famineH7458 wasH1961 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667. 6And JosephH3130 was the governor over the landH776; he it was that soldH7666 to all the peopleH5971 of the landH776. And Joseph’s brethren cameH935, and bowedH7812 downH7812 themselves to him with their facesH639 to the earthH776. 7And JosephH3130 sawH7200 his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly with them; and he saidH559 unto them, Whence comeH935 ye? And they saidH559, From the landH776 of CanaanH3667 to buyH7666 foodH400. 8And JosephH3130 knew his brethren, but they knew not him. 9And JosephH3130 rememberedH2142 the dreamsH2472 which he dreamedH2492 of them, and saidH559 unto them, Ye are spiesH7270; to seeH7200 the nakednessH6172 of the landH776 ye are comeH935. 10And they saidH559 unto him, Nay, my lordH113, but to buyH7666 foodH400 are thy servantsH5650 comeH935. 11We are all oneH259 man’sH376 sonsH1121; we are true menH376, thy servantsH5650 are no spiesH7270. 12And he saidH559 unto them, Nay, but to seeH7200 the nakednessH6172 of the landH776 ye are comeH935. 13And they saidH559, We thy servantsH5650 are twelve brethren, the sonsH1121 of oneH259 manH376 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667; and, behold, the youngestH6996 is this dayH3117 with our fatherH1, and oneH259 is not. 14And JosephH3130 saidH559 unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, sayingH559, Ye are spiesH7270: 15hereby ye shall be proved: by the lifeH2416 of PharaohH6547 ye shall not goH3318 forthH3318 hence, except your youngestH6996 brotherH251 comeH935 hither. 16SendH7971 oneH259 of you, and let him fetch your brotherH251, and ye shall be boundH631, that your wordsH1697 may be proved, whether there be truthH571 in you: or else by the lifeH2416 of PharaohH6547 surely ye are spiesH7270. 17And he put them all together into ward threeH7969 daysH3117.
18And JosephH3130 saidH559 unto them the thirdH7992 dayH3117, This do, and liveH2421; for I fearH3372 GodH430: 19if ye be true men, let oneH259 of your brethren be boundH631 in your prison-house; but goH935 ye, carry grainH7668 for the famine of your housesH1004: 20and bringH935 your youngestH6996 brotherH251 unto me; soH3651 shall your wordsH1697 be verified, and ye shall not dieH4191. And they did soH3651. 21And they saidH559 oneH376 to another, We are verily guiltyH818 concerning our brotherH251, in that we sawH7200 the distressH6869 of his soulH5315, whenH834 he besought us, and we would not hearH8085; thereforeH3651 is this distressH6869 comeH935 upon us. 22And ReubenH7205 answered them, sayingH559, Spake I not unto you, sayingH559, Do not sinH2398 against the childH3206; and ye would not hearH8085? therefore alsoH1571, behold, his bloodH1818 is requiredH1875. 23And they knewH3045 not that JosephH3130 understood them; for there was an interpreter between them. 24And he turnedH7725 himself about from them, and weptH1058; and he returnedH7725 to them, and spake to them, and tookH3947 SimeonH8095 from among them, and boundH631 him before their eyesH5869. 25Then JosephH3130 commandedH6680 to fillH4390 their vesselsH3627 with grainH1250, and to restoreH7725 every man’sH376 moneyH3701 into his sackH8242, and to giveH5414 them provision for the wayH1870: and thusH3651 was it done unto them.
26And they laded their asses with their grainH7668, and departed thence. 27And as oneH259 of them openedH6605 his sackH572 to giveH5414 his ass provender in the lodging-place, he espied his moneyH3701; and, behold, it was in the mouthH6310 of his sackH572. 28And he saidH559 unto his brethren, My moneyH3701 is restoredH7725; and, lo, it is even in my sackH572: and their heartH3820 failed them, and they turnedH7725 tremblingH2729 oneH376 to another, sayingH559, What is this that GodH430 hath done unto us? 29And they cameH935 unto JacobH3290 their fatherH1 unto the landH776 of CanaanH3667, and toldH5046 him all that had befallen them, sayingH559, 30The manH376, the lordH113 of the landH776, spake roughly with us, and took us for spiesH7270 of the country. 31And we saidH559 unto him, We are true men; we are no spiesH7270: 32we are twelve brethren, sonsH1121 of our fatherH1; oneH259 is not, and the youngestH6996 is this dayH3117 with our fatherH1 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667. 33And the manH376, the lordH113 of the landH776, saidH559 unto us, Hereby shall I knowH3045 that ye are true menH376: leave oneH259 of your brethren with me, and takeH3947 grain for the famine of your housesH1004, and go your way; 34and bringH935 your youngestH6996 brotherH251 unto me: then shall I knowH3045 that ye are no spiesH7270, but that ye are true men: soH3651 will I deliver you your brotherH251, and ye shall traffic in the landH776.
