Genesis 34:13-29
13And the sonsH1121 of JacobH3290 answeredH6030 ShechemH7927 and HamorH2544 his fatherH1 with guile, and spake, because he had defiledH2930 DinahH1783 their sisterH269, 14and saidH559 unto them, We cannot do this thingH1697, to giveH5414 our sisterH269 to oneH376 that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproachH2781 unto us. 15OnlyH389 on this condition will we consent unto you: if ye will beH1961 as we areH1961, that every maleH2145 of you beH1961 circumcisedH4135; 16then will we giveH5414 our daughtersH1323 unto you, and we will takeH3947 your daughtersH1323 to us, and we will dwellH3427 with you, and we will becomeH1961 oneH259 peopleH5971. 17But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcisedH4135; then will we takeH3947 our daughterH1323, and we will be goneH1980.
18And their wordsH1697 pleased HamorH2544, and ShechemH7927 Hamor’s sonH1121. 19And the youngH5288 manH5288 deferred not to do the thingH1697, because he had delightH2654 in Jacob’s daughterH1323: and he was honoredH3513 above all the houseH1004 of his fatherH1. 20And HamorH2544 and ShechemH7927 his sonH1121 cameH935 unto the gateH8179 of their cityH5892, and communed with the menH376 of their cityH5892, sayingH559, 21These menH376 are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwellH3427 in the landH776, and trade therein; for, behold, the landH776 is large enough for them; let us takeH3947 their daughtersH1323 to us for wivesH802, and let us giveH5414 them our daughtersH1323. 22OnlyH389 on this condition will the menH376 consent unto us to dwellH3427 with us, to becomeH1961 oneH259 peopleH5971, if every maleH2145 among us beH1961 circumcisedH4135, as they are circumcisedH4135. 23Shall not their cattleH929 and their substance and all their beasts be ours? onlyH389 let us consent unto them, and they will dwellH3427 with us. 24And unto HamorH2544 and unto ShechemH7927 his sonH1121 hearkened all that wentH3318 out of the gateH8179 of his cityH5892; and every maleH2145 was circumcisedH4135, all that wentH3318 out of the gateH8179 of his cityH5892. 25And it cameH935 to pass on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, when they wereH1961 sore, that twoH8147 of the sonsH1121 of JacobH3290, SimeonH8095 and LeviH3878, Dinah’s brethren, tookH3947 each manH376 his swordH2719, and cameH935 upon the cityH5892 unawares, and slewH2026 all the malesH2145. 26And they slewH2026 HamorH2544 and ShechemH7927 his sonH1121 with the edge of the swordH2719, and tookH3947 DinahH1783 out of Shechem’s houseH1004, and wentH3318 forthH3318. 27The sonsH1121 of JacobH3290 cameH935 upon the slainH2491, and plunderedH962 the cityH5892, because they had defiledH2930 their sisterH269. 28They tookH3947 their flocksH6629 and their herdsH1241 and their asses, and that which was in the cityH5892, and that which was in the fieldH7704; 29and all their wealthH2428, and all their littleH2945 onesH2945 and their wivesH802, tookH7617 they captiveH7617 and made a prey, even all that was in the houseH1004.
