Deuteronomy 15:2-14

2And this is the mannerH1697 of the release: every creditorH5383 shall release that which he hath lentH5383 unto his neighborH7453; he shall not exact it of his neighborH7453 and his brotherH251; because Jehovah’s release hath been proclaimedH7121. 3Of a foreignerH5237 thou mayest exact it: but whatsoever of thine is with thy brotherH251 thy handH3027 shall release. 4Howbeit there shall beH1961 no poor with thee (for Jehovah will surely blessH1288 thee in the landH776 which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee for an inheritanceH5159 to possessH3423 it), 5if onlyH7535 thou diligently hearken unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy GodH430, to observeH8104 to do all this commandmentH4687 which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117. 6For Jehovah thy GodH430 will blessH1288 thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lendH5670 unto manyH7227 nationsH1471, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt ruleH4910 over manyH7227 nationsH1471, but they shall not ruleH4910 over thee.

7If there beH1961 with thee a poor man, oneH259 of thy brethren, within any of thy gatesH8179 in thy landH776 which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heartH3824, nor shutH7092 thy handH3027 from thy poor brotherH251; 8but thou shalt surely openH6605 thy handH3027 unto him, and shalt surely lendH5670 him sufficient for his need in that which he wanteth. 9Beware that there beH1961 not a base thought in thy heartH3824, sayingH559, The seventh yearH8141, the yearH8141 of release, is at hand; and thine eyeH5869 beH1961 evil against thy poor brotherH251, and thou giveH5414 him nought; and he cry unto Jehovah against thee, and it beH1961 sinH2399 unto thee. 10Thou shalt surely giveH5414 him, and thy heartH3824 shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him; because that for this thingH1697 Jehovah thy GodH430 will blessH1288 thee in all thy workH4639, and in all that thou puttest thy handH3027 unto. 11For the poorH6041 will never ceaseH2308 out of the landH776: thereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee, sayingH559, Thou shalt surely openH6605 thy handH3027 unto thy brotherH251, to thy needyH34, and to thy poorH6041, in thy landH776.

12If thy brotherH251, a HebrewH5680 man, or a HebrewH5680 woman, be soldH4376 unto thee, and serveH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141; then in the seventhH7637 yearH8141 thou shalt let him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee. 13And when thou lettest him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee, thou shalt not let him goH7971 emptyH7387: 14thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flockH6629, and out of thy threshing-floor, and out of thy winepressH3342; as Jehovah thy GodH430 hath blessedH1288 thee thou shalt giveH5414 unto him.
