Psalm 69
Revised Version 1895
For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim. A Psalm of David.
I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am comeH935 intoH935 deep watersH4325, where the floods overflow meH5315.
They that hate meH7121 without a causeH7121 are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would cut meH7121 off, beingH430 mine enemies wrongfully, are mightyH430: then I restored that whichH5869 I took not awayH3615.
LetH3808 notH3808 them that wait on thee be ashamed throughH4480 meH4480, O Lord GODH430 of hosts: letH3808 notH3808 thoseH4480 that seekH3808 thee be brought to dishonour throughH4480 meH4480, O GodH430 of Israel.
For the zeal of thine house hath eaten meH1961 upH1961; and the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallenH1961 uponH1961 meH1961.
But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy, answer me in the truth of thy salvation.
Deliver meH589 out of the mire, and letH6256 meH589 notH6256 sink: letH6256 meH589 be delivered from them that hate meH589, and out of the deep waters.
LetH408 notH408 the waterflood overwhelm meH8130, neitherH408 letH408 the deepH4615 swallow meH8130 up; and letH408 notH408 the pit shut herH5337 mouth upon meH8130.
Answer meH5921, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: accordingH5921 to the multitude of thy tender mercies turn thou unto meH5921.
And hide notH3588 thy faceH6437 from thy servant; for I am in distress; answerH6030 meH413 speedily.
Thou knowest my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all beforeH413 thee.
ReproachH2781 hath broken my heart; and I am fullH3605 of heaviness: and I looked for someH3605 to takeH3045 pity, but there was noneH3605; and for comforters, but I foundH3045 noneH3605.
LetH5414 their table before them become a snare; and when they are in peace, letH5414 it become a trap.
LetH1961 their eyes be darkened, that they see notH1961; and make their loins continually to shake.
Pour outH7200 thine indignation uponH7200 them, and let the fierceness of thine anger overtake them.
Let their habitation be desolate; let none dwell in their tents.
For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they tell of the sorrow of thoseH1961 whom thou hast wounded,
LetH5414 them be blotted outH5921 of the book of life, and notH408 be written with the righteousH6666.
And it shall please the LORD better than an ox, or a bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
For the LORD heareth the needy, and despiseth not his prisoners.
