Psalm 109
Revised Version 1895
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
For the mouthH6310 of the wickedH7563 and the mouthH6310 of deceitH4820 have they openedH6605 againstH5921 meH5921: they have spokenH1696 unto meH5921 with a lyingH8267 tongueH3956.
They compassed meH5437 aboutH5437 also with wordsH1697 of hatredH8135, and foughtH3898 againstH3898 meH5437 withoutH2600 a causeH2600.
SetH5975 thou a wickedH7563 manH7563 over him: and letH6485 an adversaryH7854 standH5975 at his rightH3225 handH3225.
When he is judgedH8199, letH1961 him comeH1961 forthH3318 guiltyH7563; and letH1961 his prayerH8605 be turnedH1961 intoH8199 sinH2401.
Let his childrenH1121 be vagabonds, and begH7592; and let them seekH1875 their bread out of their desolate placesH2723.
Let the extortioner catch allH3605 that he hath; and let strangersH2114 makeH5383 spoilH962 of his labour.
LetH408 there be noneH408 to extendH1961 mercyH2603 unto him; neitherH408 letH408 there be anyH1961 to have pityH2603 on his fatherlessH3490 childrenH3490.
LetH1961 his posterityH319 be cutH3772 offH3772; in the generationH1755 followingH312 letH1961 their nameH8034 be blotted outH4229.
LetH408 the iniquityH5771 of his fathersH1 be rememberedH2142 with the LORDH3068; and letH408 notH408 the sinH2403 of his motherH517 be blotted outH413.
LetH1961 them be beforeH5048 the LORDH3068 continuallyH8548, that he may cutH3772 offH3772 the memoryH2143 of them from the earthH776.
BecauseH3282 that he rememberedH2142 notH3808 to shew mercy, but persecutedH7291 the poorH6041 and needyH34 manH376, and the broken in heartH3824, to slayH4191 them.
Yea, he lovedH157 cursingH7045, and it cameH935 unto him; and he delighted notH3808 in blessingH1293, and it was farH7368 from him.
He clothedH3847 himselfH4325 also with cursingH7045 as with his garmentH4055, and it cameH935 intoH935 his inwardH7130 parts like waterH4325, and like oilH8081 intoH935 his bonesH6106. Let it be unto him as the raiment
This is the rewardH6468 of mine adversariesH7853 from the LORDH3068, and of them that speakH1696 evilH7451 againstH5921 my soulH5315.
But dealH6213 thou with meH5337, O GODH136 the LordH136, for thy name’sH8034 sakeH4616: becauseH3588 thy mercy is goodH2896, deliverH5337 thou meH5337,
I am goneH1980 like the shadowH6738 when it declineth: I am tossed up and downH5186 as the locustH697.
I am becomeH1961 also a reproachH2781 unto them: when they seeH7200 meH7200, they shakeH5128 their headH7218.
LetH8055 them curseH7043, but blessH1288 thou: when they ariseH6965, they shall be ashamedH954, but thy servantH5650 shall rejoiceH8055.
Let mine adversariesH7853 be clothedH3847 with dishonour, and let them coverH5844 themselves with their own shameH1322 as with a mantleH4598.
