Revised Version 1895
1The wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 whichH834 cameH1961 unto ZephaniahH6846 the sonH1121 of Cushi, the sonH1121 of GedaliahH1436, the sonH1121 of AmariahH568, the sonH1121 of HezekiahH2396, in the daysH3117 of JosiahH2977 the sonH1121 of AmonH526, kingH4428 of JudahH3063. 2I will utterly consume allH3605 things from offH5921 the faceH6440 of the groundH127, saith the LORDH3068. 3I will consume manH120 and beastH929; I will consume the fowls of the heavenH8064, and the fishes of the seaH3220, and the stumblingblocks with the wickedH7563; and I will cutH3772 offH3772 manH120 from offH3772 the faceH6440 of the groundH127, saith the LORDH3068. 4And I will stretchH5186 outH4480 mineH4480 handH3027 uponH5921 JudahH3063, and uponH5921 allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389; and I will cutH3772 offH3772 the remnantH7605 of BaalH1168 from this placeH4725, and the nameH8034 of the Chemarim with the priestsH3548; 5and them that worshipH7812 the hostH6635 of heavenH8064 uponH5921 the housetopsH1406; and them that worshipH7812, whichH6635 swearH7650 to the LORDH3068 and swearH7650 by Malcam; 6and them that are turnedH5472 backH310 from followingH310 the LORDH3068; and thoseH834 that have notH3808 soughtH1245 the LORDH3068, norH3808 inquiredH1875 afterH310 him. 7Hold thy peace at the presenceH6440 of the LordH3068 GODH3068: for the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 is at handH7138: for the LORDH3068 hath preparedH3559 a sacrificeH2077, he hath sanctifiedH6942 his guestsH7121. 8And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961 in the dayH3117 of the LORD’SH3068 sacrificeH2077, that I will punishH6485 the princesH8269, and the king’sH4428 sonsH1121, and allH3605 suchH3605 as are clothedH3847 with foreignH5237 apparelH3847. 9And in that dayH3117 I will punishH6485 allH3605 thoseH3605 that leapH1801 over the thresholdH4670, whichH1931 fillH4390 their master’sH113 houseH1004 with violenceH2555 and deceitH4820. 10And in that dayH3117, saith the LORDH3068, there shall be the noiseH6963 of a cryH6818 from the fishH1709 gateH8179, and an howling from the secondH4932 quarter, and a greatH1419 crashingH7667 from the hillsH1389. 11HowlH3213, ye inhabitantsH3427 of Maktesh, for allH3605 the peopleH5971 of CanaanH3667 are undone: allH3605 they that were laden with sliver are cutH3772 offH3772. 12And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961 at that time, that I will searchH2664 JerusalemH3389 with candles; and I will punishH6485 the menH376 that are settled on their lees, that sayH559 in their heartH3824, The LORDH3068 will notH3808 doH3190 goodH3190, neitherH3808 will he doH3190 evilH7489. 13And their wealthH2428 shall becomeH1961 a spoilH4933, and their housesH1004 a desolationH8077: yea, they shall buildH1129 housesH1004, but shall notH3808 inhabitH3427 them; and they shall plantH5193 vineyardsH3754, but shall notH3808 drinkH8354 the wineH3196 thereof. 14The greatH1419 dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 is nearH7138, it is nearH7138 and hasteth greatlyH3966, even the voiceH6963 of the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068; the mightyH1368 manH1368 crieth there bitterlyH4751. 15That dayH3117 is a dayH3117 of wrathH5678, a dayH3117 of troubleH6869 and distressH6869, a dayH3117 of wasteness and desolationH4875, a dayH3117 of darknessH2822 and gloominess, a dayH3117 of cloudsH6051 and thickH6205 darknessH2822, 16a dayH3117 of the trumpetH7782 and alarmH8643, againstH5921 the fenced citiesH5892, and againstH5921 the highH1364 battlements. 17And I will bringH1980 distress upon menH120, that they shall walkH1980 like blindH5787 menH120, becauseH3588 they have sinnedH2398 againstH2398 the LORDH3068: and their bloodH1818 shall be pouredH8210 outH8210 as dustH6083, and their fleshH3894 as dungH1561. 18NeitherH3808 their silverH3701 norH3808 their goldH2091 shall be ableH3201 to deliverH5337 them in the dayH3117 of the LORD’SH3068 wrathH5678; but the wholeH3605 landH776 shall be devouredH398 by the fireH784 of his jealousyH7068: for he shall makeH6213 an endH3617, yeaH3588, a terrible endH3617, of allH3605 them that dwellH3427 in the landH776.
