Psalm 102

Revised Version 1895

A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD.

Hear my prayerH8605, O LORDH3068, and let my cry come unto thee.
Hide not thy face from meH413 in the day of my distress: incline thine ear unto meH413; in the day when I callH8085 answer meH413 speedily.
For my daysH3117 consume awayH5186 like smoke, and my bones are burned as a firebrand.
My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; for I forget to eat my bread.
By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my flesh.
I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am become as an owl of the waste places.
I watch, and am becomeH1961 like a sparrow that is alone uponH1961 the housetop.
Mine enemies reproach meH5921 all the day; they that are mad againstH5921 meH5921 do curse by meH5921.
For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping.
BecauseH3588 of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast taken meH398 upH398, and cast meH398 awayH398.
My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.
But thou, O LORD, shalt abide for ever; and thy memorial unto allH3117 generations.
Thou shalt arise, and have mercyH3068 uponH3427 Zion: for it is time to have pity uponH3427 her, yea, the setH3427 time is come.
For thy servants takeH935 pleasure in herH935 stones, and have pityH7355 uponH935 herH935 dust.
SoH3588 the nations shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earthH6083 thy glory:
For the LORDH3068 hath built upH853 Zion, he hath appeared in his gloryH3519;
He hath regardedH7200 the prayer of the destitute, and hath notH3588 despised their prayer.
This shall be written for the generation to come: and a peopleH3808 which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
For he hath looked downH3789 from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORDH3050 behold the earth;
To hear the sighing of the prisoner; to loose thoseH3588 that are appointed to death;
That menH1121 may declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;
When the peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORDH3068.
He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.
I said, O my God, take meH3117 notH1870 away in the midst of my daysH3117: thy yearsH3117 are throughoutH3117 allH3117 generations.
Of oldH8141 hast thou laid the foundation of the earthH5927; and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax oldH6440 like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
But thou art the same, and thy years shall have noH6 end.
The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be establishedH3808 beforeH3808 thee.
