Psalms 69

A Cry of Distress and Imprecation on Adversaries.

For the choir director; according to Or possibly LiliesShoshannim. A Psalm of David.

1SaveH3467 me, O GodH430, For the 1watersH4325 have 2threatenedH935H5704 my lifeH5315.2I have sunkH2883 in deepH4688 3mireH3121, and thereH369 is noH369 footholdH4613; I have comeH935 into deepH4615 watersH4325, and a 45floodH7642 overflowsH7857 me.3I am 6wearyH3021 with my cryingH7121; my throatH1627 is parchedH2787; My 7eyesH5869 failH3615 while I waitH3176 for my GodH430.4Those 8who hateH8130 me withoutH2600 a causeH2600 are moreH7231 thanH4480 the hairsH8185 of my headH7218; Those who would 9destroyH6789 me 10are powerfulH6105, being wrongfullyH8267 my enemiesH340; 11WhatH834 I did not stealH1497, I thenH227 have to restoreH7725.

5O GodH430, it is You who knowsH3045 12my follyH200, And 13my wrongsH819 are not hiddenH3582 from You.6May those who waitH6960 for You not 14be ashamedH954 through me, O LordH136 15GodH3068 of hostsH6635; May those who seekH1245 You not be dishonoredH3637 through me, O GodH430 of IsraelH3478,7BecauseH3588 16for Your sakeH5921 I have borneH5375 reproachH2781; 17DishonorH3639 has coveredH3680 my faceH6440.8I haveH1961 becomeH1961 18estrangedH2114 19from my brothersH251 And an alienH5237 to my mother’sH517 sonsH1121.9For 20zealH7068 for Your houseH1004 has consumedH398 me, And 21the reproachesH2781 of those who reproachH2778 You have fallenH5307 on me.10When I weptH1058 22in my soulH5315 with fastingH6685, It becameH1961 my reproachH2781.11When I madeH5414 23sackclothH8242 my clothingH3830, I becameH1961 24a bywordH4912 to them.12Those who 25sitH3427 in the gateH8179 talkH7878 about me, And I am the 2627songH5058 of the drunkardsH7941H8354.

13But as for me, my prayerH8605 is to You, O LordH3068, 28at an acceptableH7522 timeH6256; O GodH430, in the 29greatnessH7230 of Your lovingkindnessH2617, AnswerH6030 me with 30Your savingH3468 truthH571.14DeliverH5337 me from the 31mireH2916 and do not let me sinkH2883; May I be 32deliveredH5337 from 33my foesH8130 and from the 3435deepH4615 watersH4325.15May the 3637floodH7642 of waterH4325 not overflowH7857 me NorH408 the deepH4688 swallowH1104 me up, NorH408 the 38pitH875 shutH332 its mouthH6310 on me.

16AnswerH6030 me, O LordH3068, for 39Your lovingkindnessH2617 is goodH2896; 40According to the greatnessH7230 of Your compassionH7356, 41turnH6437 to me,17And 42do not hideH5641 Your faceH6440 from Your servantH5650, For I am 43in distressH6887; answerH6030 me quicklyH4118.18Oh drawH7126 nearH7126 to my soulH5315 and 44redeemH1350 it; 45RansomH6299 me becauseH4616 of my enemiesH340!19You knowH3045 my 46reproachH2781 and my shameH1322 and my dishonorH3639; AllH3605 my adversariesH6887 are 47beforeH5048 You.

20ReproachH2781 has 48brokenH7665 my heartH3820 and I am so sickH5136. And 49I lookedH6960 for sympathyH5110, but thereH369 was noneH369, And for 50comfortersH5162, but I foundH4672 noneH3808.21They also gaveH5414 me 5152gallH7219 53for my foodH1267 And for my thirstH6772 they 54gaveH8248 me vinegarH2558 to drinkH8248.

22May 55their tableH7979 beforeH6440 them becomeH1961 a snareH4170; And 5657when they are in peaceH7965, may it become a trapH4170.23May their 58eyesH5869 growH2821 dimH2821 soH4480 that they cannotH4480 seeH7200, And make their 59loinsH4975 shakeH4571 continuallyH8548.2460PourH8210 out Your indignationH2195 on them, And may Your burningH2740 angerH639 overtakeH5381 them.25May their 6162campH2918 be desolateH8074; May noneH408 dwellH3427 in their tentsH168.26For they have 63persecutedH7291 him whomH834 64You YourselfH859 have smittenH5221, And they tellH5608 of the painH4341 of those whom 65You have 66woundedH2491.27AddH5414 67iniquityH5771 to their iniquityH5771, And 68may they not comeH935 into 69Your righteousnessH6666.28May they be 70blottedH4229 out of the 71bookH5612 of lifeH2416 And may they not be 7273recordedH3789 with the righteousH6662.

29But I am 74afflictedH6041 and in painH3510; 75May Your salvationH3444, O GodH430, 76setH7682 me securely on highH7682.30I will 77praiseH1984 the nameH8034 of GodH430 with songH7892 And 78magnifyH1431 Him with 79thanksgivingH8426.31And it will 80pleaseH3190 the LordH3068 betterH3190 thanH4480 an oxH7794 Or a youngH6499 bullH6499 with hornsH7161 and hoofsH6536.32The 81humbleH6035 82have seenH7200 it and are gladH8055; You who seekH1875 GodH430, 83let your heartH3824 84reviveH2421.33For 85the LordH3068 hearsH8085 the needyH34 And 86does not despiseH959 His who are prisonersH615.

34Let 87heavenH8064 and earthH776 praiseH1984 Him, The seasH3220 and 88everythingH3605 that movesH7430 in them.35For GodH430 will 89saveH3467 ZionH6726 and 90buildH1129 the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, That they may dwellH3427 thereH8033 and 91possessH3423 it.36The 9293descendantsH2233 of His servantsH5650 will inheritH5157 it, And those who loveH157 His nameH8034 94will dwellH7931 in it.
