Psalm 31
Revised Version 1895
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
Bow down thine ear unto meH5769; deliverH6403 meH5769 speedily: be thou to meH5769 a strong rock, an house of defence to save meH5769.
For thou art my rockH6697 and my fortressH4581; therefore for thy name’s sake leadH413 meH413 and guide meH413.
Pluck meH5148 out of the netH4686 that they have laid privily for meH5148; for thou art my strong hold.
I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercyH3068: for thou hast seen my affliction; thou hast known my soul in adversities:
And thou hast notH5315 shut meH5315 upH7200 intoH7200 the hand of the enemy; thou hast setH834 my feet in a large place.
Have mercy uponH3027 meH5462, O LORD, for I am in distressH3027: mine eye wasteth away with grief, yea, my soul and my body.
For my lifeH5315 is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing: my strengthH5315 faileth becauseH3588 of mine iniquity, and my bones are wastedH6244 awayH6244.
BecauseH3588 of allH3615 mine adversaries I am become a reproach, yeaH3588, unto my neighbours exceedingly, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see meH3615 without fled from meH3615.
For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side: whileH1961 they tookH1961 counsel together against meH7911, they devised to takeH1961 away my lifeH4191.
My times are in thy hand: deliver meH5921 from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute meH5921.
Let meH6440 notH3467 he ashamed, O LORDH2617; for I have called uponH5921 thee: let the wicked be ashamed, let them be silent in Sheol.
LetH408 the lying lips be dumb; which speak against the righteous insolently, with pride and contempt.
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid upH5921 for them that fear thee, which thou hast wrought for them that put their trust in thee, beforeH5921 the sons of menH6662!
In the covert of thy presenceH5048 shalt thou hideH6845 them from the plottings of manH120: thou shalt keepH6845 them secretlyH6845 in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
As for meH1288, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: neverthelessH3588 thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
