Psalm 60
Revised Version 1895
For the Chief Musician; set to Shushan Eduth: Michtam of David, to teach: when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the Valley of Salt twelve thousand.
1O God, thou hast cast usH5921 offH5921, thou hast broken usH5921 downH5921; thou hast been angry; O restore usH5921 againH3925.
2Thou hast madeH7725 the land to tremble; thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast madeH6555 usH7725 to drink the wine of staggering.
4Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed becauseH3588 of the truth. Selah
6GodH5414 hath spoken in his holiness; I will exult: I will divideH5414 Shechem, and mete outH6440 the valley of Succoth.
7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the defence of mine head; Judah is my sceptre.
10Hast not thou, O God, castH7993 usH5921 offH5921? and thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts.
11Give us help against the adversary: for vain is the help of man.
