Psalm 6

Revised Version 1895

For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, set to the Sheminith. A Psalm of David.

1O LORD, rebuke meH5921 notH1732 in thine anger, neither chasten meH5921 in thy hot displeasure.
2Have mercyH3068 upon meH3256, O LORDH3068; for I am withered away: O LORDH3068, heal meH3256; for my bones are vexed.
3My soul also is sore vexed: and thou, O LORDH3068, howH3588 long?
4Return, O LORDH3068, deliver my soulH5315: saveH5315 meH5315 for thy lovingkindness’ sake.
5For in deathH5315 there is no remembrance of thee: in Sheol who shall giveH7725 thee thanks?
6I am weary with my groaning; every night makeH3588 I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
7Mine eye wasteth awayH3605 becauseH3605 of grief; it waxeth old becauseH3605 of allH3605 mine adversaries.
8Depart from meH3605, allH3605 ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
9The LORDH3068 hath heardH8085 my supplication; the LORDH3068 will receive my prayer.
10All mine enemies shall be ashamed and sore vexed: they shall turn backH3947, they shall be ashamed suddenly.
