Psalm 9

Revised Version 1895

For the Chief Musician; set to Muthlabben. A Psalm of David.

I will give thanks unto the LORD with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works.
I will be glad and exult in thee: I will sing praiseH3034 to thy name, O thou Most High.
When mine enemies turn back, they stumble and perish at thy presence.
For thou hast maintained my right and my causeH7725; thou satest in the throne judging righteously.
Thou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast blotted outH3427 their name for ever and ever.
The enemy are come to an end, they are desolate for everH5703; and the cities whichH1471 thou hast overthrown, their very memorialH8034 is perishedH6.
But the LORD sitteth as king for everH5331: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
And he shall judgeH4941 the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgmentH4941 to the peoples in uprightness.
The LORD also will be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble;
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou, LORDH3068, hast notH1961 forsaken them that seek thee.
Sing praisesH3068 to the LORDH3068, which dwelleth in Zion: declareH3045 among the peopleH3808 his doings.
For he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the poor.
Have mercy upon meH7911, O LORD; beholdH3808 my affliction which I suffer of them that hate meH7911, thou that liftest meH7911 upH853 from the gates of deathH1818;
That I may shew forth all thy praiseH7311: in the gatesH8179 of the daughter of Zion, I will rejoice in thy salvation.
The nations are sunk down in the pit that they madeH3605: in the net which they hid is their own foot takenH5608.
The LORD hath madeH6213 himselfH7272 known, he hath executed judgmentH1471: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higaion. Selah
The wickedH7563 shall return to Sheol, evenH6213 allH3045 the nations that forget GodH3068.
For the needy shall not alway be forgotten, nor the expectation of the poor perish for everH7725.
Arise, O LORD; letH3808 notH3808 manH34 prevail: letH3808 the nations be judged in thy sight.
Put them in fear, O LORDH3068: letH408 the nationsH1471 know themselvesH5921 to be but menH582. Selah
