Psalms 69
A Cry of Distress and a Curse on Adversaries.
For the music director; according to Or possibly LiliesShoshannim. A Psalm of David.
1SaveH3467 me, GodH430, For the 1watersH4325 have 2threatenedH935H5704 my lifeH5315.2I have sunkH2883 in deepH4688 3mudH3121, and thereH369 isH369 noH369 footholdH4613; I have comeH935 into deepH4615 watersH4325, and a 45floodH7642 overflowsH7857 me.3I am 6wearyH3021 with my cryingH7121; my throatH1627 isH2787 parchedH2787; My 7eyesH5869 failH3615 while I waitH3176 for my GodH430.4Those 8who hateH8130 me withoutH2600 a causeH2600 areH7231 moreH7231 thanH4480 the hairsH8185 of my headH7218; Those who would 9destroyH6789 me 10areH6105 powerfulH6105, those who opposeH340 me with liesH8267; 11WhatH834 I did not stealH1497, I thenH227 have to restoreH7725.
5GodH430, You knowH3045 12my foolishnessH200, And 13my guiltH819 is not hiddenH3582 from You.6May those who waitH6960 for You not 14beH954 ashamedH954 because of me, LordH136 15GodH3068 of armiesH6635; May those who seekH1245 You not be dishonoredH3637 because of me, GodH430 of IsraelH3478,7BecauseH3588 16forH5921 Your sakeH5921 I have enduredH5375 disgraceH2781; 17DishonorH3639 has coveredH3680 my faceH6440.8I have becomeH1961 18estrangedH2114 19from my brothersH251, And a strangerH5237 to my mother’sH517 sonsH1121.9For 20zealH7068 for Your houseH1004 has consumedH398 me, And 21the tauntsH2781 of those who tauntH2778 You have fallenH5307 on me.10When I weptH1058 22in my soulH5315 with fastingH6685, It becameH1961 my 23disgraceH2781.11When I madeH5414 24sackclothH8242 my clothingH3830, I becameH1961 25a proverbH4912 to them.12Those who 26sitH3427 in the gateH8179 talkH7878 about me, And 27songsH5058 ofH5058 mockeryH5058 by those habituallyH7941H8354 drunkH7941H8354 are about me.
13But as for me, my prayerH8605 is to You, LordH3068, 28at an acceptableH7522 timeH6256; GodH430, in the 29greatnessH7230 of Your mercyH2617, AnswerH6030 me with 30Your savingH3468 truthH571.14RescueH5337 me from the 31mudH2916 and do not let me sinkH2883; May I be 32rescuedH5337 from those who hateH8130 me, and from the 33depthsH4615 of waterH4325.15May the 3435floodH7642 of waterH4325 not overflowH7857 me NorH408 the deepH4688 swallowH1104 me upH1104, NorH408 the 36pitH875 closeH332 its mouthH6310 on me.
16AnswerH6030 me, LordH3068, for 37Your mercyH2617 is goodH2896; 38According to the greatnessH7230 of Your compassionH7356, 39turnH6437 to me,17And 40do not hideH5641 Your faceH6440 from Your servantH5650, For I amH6887 41inH6887 distressH6887; answerH6030 me quicklyH4118.18ComeH7126 nearH7126 to my soulH5315 and 42redeemH1350 it; 43RansomH6299 me becauseH4616 of my enemiesH340!19You knowH3045 my 44disgraceH2781, my shameH1322, and my dishonorH3639; AllH3605 my enemiesH6887 are 45knownH5048 to You.
20DisgraceH2781 has 46brokenH7665 my heartH3820, and I am so sickH5136. And 47I waitedH6960 for sympathyH5110, but thereH369 wasH369 noneH369; And for 48comfortersH5162, but I foundH4672 noneH3808.21They also gaveH5414 me 4950a bitterH7219 herbH7219 in my foodH1267, And for my thirstH6772 they 51gaveH8248 me vinegarH2558 toH8248 drinkH8248.
22May 52their tableH7979 beforeH6440 them becomeH1961 a snareH4170; And 5354when they are at peaceH7965, may it become a trapH4170.23May their 55eyesH5869 growH2821 dimH2821 soH4480 thatH4480 they cannotH4480 seeH7200, And make their 56hipsH4975 shakeH4571 continuallyH8548.2457PourH8210 outH8210 Your indignationH2195 on them, And may Your burningH2740 angerH639 overtakeH5381 them.25May their 5859campH2918 beH8074 desolatedH8074; May there be noneH408 livingH3427 in their tentsH168.26For they have 60persecutedH7291 him whomH834 61You YourselfH859 struckH5221, And they tellH5608 of the painH4341 of those whom 62You have 63woundedH2491.27AddH5414 64guiltH5771 to their guiltH5771, And 65may they not comeH935 into 66Your righteousnessH6666.28May they be 67wipedH4229 outH4229 of the 68bookH5612 of lifeH2416, And may they not be 6970recordedH3789 with the righteousH6662.
29But I am 71afflictedH6041 and inH3510 painH3510; 72May Your salvationH3444, GodH430, 73setH7682 me safely onH7682 highH7682.30I will 74praiseH1984 the nameH8034 of GodH430 with songH7892, And 75exaltH1431 Him with 76thanksgivingH8426.31And it will 77pleaseH3190 the LordH3068 betterH3190 thanH4480 an oxH7794 Or bullH6499 with hornsH7161 and hoofsH6536.32The 78humbleH6035 79have seenH7200 it and areH8055 gladH8055; You who seekH1875 GodH430, 80let your heartH3824 81reviveH2421.33For 82the LordH3068 hearsH8085 the needyH34, And 83does not despiseH959 those of His who are prisonersH615.
3484HeavenH8064 and earthH776 shall praiseH1984 Him, The seasH3220 and 85everythingH3605 that movesH7430 in them.35For GodH430 will 86saveH3467 ZionH6726 and 87buildH1129 the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, So that they may liveH3427 thereH8033 and 88possessH3423 it.36The 8990descendantsH2233 of His servantsH5650 will inheritH5157 it, And those who loveH157 His nameH8034 91will liveH7931 in it.
