Psalm 35
Revised Version 1895
A Psalm of David.
StriveH7378 thou, O LORDH3068, with them that striveH7378 with me: fightH3898 thou againstH3898 them that fightH3898 againstH3898 me.
Draw out also the spearH2595, and stop the way againstH7125 them that pursueH7291 meH5315: sayH559 unto my soulH5315, I am thy salvationH3444.
LetH5315 them be ashamedH954 and broughtH3637 to dishonour that seekH1245 afterH5315 my soulH5315: letH5315 them be turnedH5472 backH268 and confoundedH2659 that deviseH2803 my hurt.
LetH1961 them be as chaffH4671 beforeH6440 the windH7307, and the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 drivingH1760 them on.
LetH1961 their wayH1870 be darkH2822 and slipperyH2519, and the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 pursuingH7291 them.
For withoutH2600 causeH2600 have they hidH2934 for meH5315 their netH7568 in a pitH7845, withoutH2600 causeH2600 have they digged a pitH7845 for my soulH5315.
LetH3808 destructionH7722 comeH935 uponH935 him at unawares; and letH3808 his netH7568 that he hath hidH2934 catchH3920 himselfH3045: with destructionH7722 letH3808 him fallH5307 therein.
AllH3605 my bonesH6106 shall sayH559, LORDH3068, who is like unto thee, whichH4310 deliverest the poorH6041 from him that is tooH4480 strongH2389 for him, yea, the poorH6041 and the needyH34 from him that spoileth him?
Unrighteous witnessesH5707 riseH6965 upH6965; they askH7592 meH7592 of things that I knowH3045 notH3808.
But as for meH5315, when they were sickH2470, my clothingH3830 was sackclothH8242: I afflictedH5921 my soulH5315 with fastingH6685; and my prayerH8605 returnedH7725 intoH5921 mine ownH5315 bosomH2436.
I behaved myselfH1980 as though it had been my friendH7453 or my brotherH251: I bowedH7817 downH7817 mourningH6937, as one that bewaileth his motherH517.
But when I halted they rejoicedH8055, and gatheredH622 themselvesH622 togetherH622: the abjects gatheredH622 themselvesH622 togetherH622 againstH5921 meH5921, and I knewH3045 it notH3808; they didH3808 tearH7167 meH5921, and ceased notH3808:
LordH136, howH4100 longH4100 wilt thou lookH7200 on? rescueH7725 my soulH5315 from their destructions, my darling from the lionsH3715.
I will giveH3034 thee thanksH3034 in the greatH7227 congregationH6951: I will praiseH1984 thee among muchH7227 peopleH5971.
LetH408 notH408 them that are mine enemiesH341 wrongfullyH8267 rejoiceH8055 over meH8130: neitherH408 letH408 them winkH7169 with the eyeH5869 that hateH8130 meH8130 withoutH2600 a causeH2600.
For they speakH1696 notH3808 peaceH7965: but they deviseH2803 deceitfulH4820 wordsH1697 againstH5921 them that are quietH7282 in the landH776.
Yea, they openedH7337 their mouthH6310 wideH7337 againstH5921 meH5921; they saidH559, AhaH1889, ahaH1889, our eyeH5869 hath seenH7200 it.
Thou hast seenH7200 it, O LORDH3068; keepH7368 notH408 silence: O LordH3068, be notH408 farH7368 from meH4480.
StirH5782 upH5782 thyself, and awakeH5782 to my judgmentH4941, even unto my causeH7379, my GodH430 and my LordH136.
JudgeH8199 meH8055, O LORDH3068 my GodH430, according to thy righteousnessH6664; and letH408 them notH408 rejoiceH8055 over meH8055.
LetH408 them notH408 sayH559 in their heartH3820, AhaH1889, soH408 would weH5315 have it: letH408 them notH408 sayH559, WeH5315 have swallowedH1104 him upH1104.
LetH8056 them be ashamedH954 and confoundedH2659 togetherH3162 that rejoiceH8056 at mine hurt: letH8056 them be clothedH3847 with shameH954 and dishonour that magnifyH1431 themselvesH1431 againstH5921 meH5921.
