Psalm 51

New American Standard Bible 2020

A Contrite Sinner’s Prayer for Pardon.

For the music director. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

112BeH2603 graciousH2603 to me, GodH430, according to Your faithfulnessH2617; According to the greatnessH7230 of 3Your compassionH7356, 4wipeH4229 outH4229 my wrongdoingsH6588.25WashH3526 me thoroughlyH7235 from my guiltH5771 And 6cleanseH2891 me from my sinH2403.3For I 7knowH3045 my wrongdoingsH6588, And my sinH2403 is constantlyH8548 beforeH5048 me.48Against You, You onlyH905, I have sinnedH2398 And doneH6213 whatH7451 isH7451 9evilH7451 in Your sightH5869, SoH4616 thatH4616 10You 11are justifiedH6663 12when You speakH1696 And 13blamelessH2135 when You judgeH8199.

5BeholdH2005, I was 14broughtH2342 forthH2342 in guiltH5771, And in sinH2399 my motherH517 conceivedH3179 me.6BeholdH2005, You desireH2654 15truthH571 in the 16innermostH2910 beingH2910, And in secretH5640 You will 17make wisdomH2451 knownH3045 to me.718PurifyH2398 me 19with hyssopH231, and I will beH2891 cleanH2891; 20CleanseH3526 me, and I will be 21whiterH3835 thanH4480 snowH7950.822Let me hearH8085 23joyH8342 and gladnessH8057, Let the 24bonesH6106 You have brokenH1794 rejoiceH1523.925HideH5641 Your faceH6440 from my sinsH2399 And wipeH4229 outH4229 allH3605 my guiltyH5771 deedsH5771.

1026CreateH1254 27in me a 28cleanH2889 heartH3820, GodH430, And renewH2318 a 29steadfastH3559 spiritH7307 withinH7130 me.1130Do not castH7993 me awayH7993 from Your presenceH6440, And do not takeH3947 Your 31HolyH6944 SpiritH7307 from me.12RestoreH2318 to me the 32joyH8342 of Your salvationH3468, And sustainH5564 me with a 33willingH5082 spiritH7307.13Then I will 34teachH3925 wrongdoersH6586 Your waysH1870, And sinnersH2400 will 35be 36convertedH7725 to You.

14SaveH5337 me from 37the guiltH1818 ofH1818 bloodshedH1818, GodH430, 38the GodH430 of my salvationH8668; Then my 39tongueH3956 will joyfullyH7442 singH7442 of Your righteousnessH6666.15LordH136, 4041openH6605 my lipsH8193, So that my mouthH6310 may 42declareH5046 Your praiseH8416.16For You 43do not delightH2654 in sacrificeH2077, otherwise I would giveH5414 it; You do not takeH7521 pleasureH7521 in burntH5930 offeringH5930.17The sacrificesH2077 of GodH430 are a 44brokenH7665 spiritH7307; A brokenH7665 and a contriteH1794 heartH3820, GodH430, You will not despiseH959.

1845By Your favorH7522 doH3190 goodH3190 to ZionH6726; 4647BuildH1129 the wallsH2346 of JerusalemH3389.19ThenH227 You will delightH2654 in 4849righteousH6664 sacrificesH2077, In 50burntH5930 offeringH5930 and wholeH3632 burntH3632 offeringH3632; ThenH227 51bullsH6499 will be offeredH5927 on Your altarH4196.
