38“You have heardἨκούσατεĒkousateG191that it was saidG3004, ‘EyeὀφθαλμὸνophthalmonG3788for eyeὀφθαλμοῦophthalmouG3788, andtoothὀδόνταodontaG3599for toothὀδόντος.odontosG3599.’

39But I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you, do not showG436oppositionG436against an evilπονηρῷ.ponērōG4190person; butwhoeverὅστιςhostisG3748slapsῥαπίζειrhapizeiG4474you on your rightδεξιὰνdexianG1188cheekσιαγόναsiagonaG4600,turnστρέψονstrepsonG4762the otherἄλλην·allēnG243toward him alsoκαὶkaiG2532.

40And if anyone wantsθέλοντίthelontiG2309to sueκριθῆναιkrithēnaiG2919you and takeλαβεῖν,labeinG2983yourtunicχιτῶνάchitōnaG5509,letG863him haveG863yourcloakἱμάτιον·himationG2440alsoG2532.

41WhoeverὅστιςhostisG3748forcesἀγγαρεύσειangareuseiG29you to go oneἕν,henG1520mileμίλιονmilionG3400,goὕπαγεhupageG5217with him twoδύο.duoG1417.

42Giveδός,dosG1325to him who asksαἰτοῦντίaitountiG154of you, and do not turnἀποστραφῇς.¶apostraphēasG654awayG654from him who wantsθέλονταthelontaG2309to borrowδανίσασθαιdanisasthaiG1155from you.

43“You have heardἨκούσατεĒkousateG191that it was saidG3004, ‘You shall loveἀγαπήσειςagapēseisG25your neighborπλησίονplēsionG4139and hateμισήσειςmisēseisG3404your enemyἐχθρόνechthronG2190.’

44But I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you,loveἀγαπᾶτεagapateG25your enemiesἐχθροὺςechthrousG2190and prayπροσεύχεσθεproseuchestheG4336for thoseG3588who persecuteδιωκόντωνdiōkontōnG1377you,
