22His parentsγονεῖςgoneisG1118saidG3004thisΤαῦταTautaG3778becauseὅτιhotiG3754theywereG5399afraidἐφοβοῦντοephobountoG5399of theJewsἸουδαίους·IoudaiousG2453;for the JewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453had alreadyἤδηēdēG2235reachedG4934theG4934decisionG4934that ifἐάνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100confessedὁμολογήσῃhomologēsēG3670Him to beChristχριστόν,christonG5547,he was to be excommunicatedG656fromG656theG656synagogueἀποσυνάγωγοςaposunagōgosG656.

23It wasfor thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778reasonδιὰdiaG1223thathis parentsγονεῖςgoneisG1118saidG3004, “He is of ageἡλικίανhēlikianG2244;askG2065him.”

24SoοὖνounG3767for a secondδευτέρου,deuterouG1208timeG1208they summonedἘφώνησανEphōnēsanG5455the manἄνθρωπονanthrōponG444whoὃςhosG3739had beenG1510blindτυφλὸςtuphlosG5185,and saidG3004to him, “GiveδὸςdosG1325gloryδόξανdoxanG1391to Godθεῷ·theōG2316;we knowG3609thatthisοὗτοςhoutosG3778ManἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444is a sinnerἁμαρτωλόςhamartōlosG268.”

25He thenοὖνounG3767answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611, “WhetherεἰeiG1487He is a sinnerἁμαρτωλόςhamartōlosG268,I do not knowG3609;oneἓνhenG1520thingG1520I do knowG3609,that though I was blindτυφλὸςtuphlosG5185,nowἄρτιartiG737I seeβλέπω.blepōG991.”

26SoοὖνounG3767they saidG3004to him, “WhatτίtiG5101did He doἐποίησένepoiēsenG4160to you? HowπῶςpōsG4459did He openἤνοιξένēnoixenG455your eyesὀφθαλμούς;¶ophthalmousG3788?”

27He answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611them, “I toldG3004you alreadyἤδη,ēdēG2235and you did notlistenἠκούσατε.ēkousateG191;whyτίtiG5101do you wantθέλετεtheleteG2309to hearἀκούειν;akoueinG191itagainπάλινpalinG3825?You do not wantθέλετεtheleteG2309to becomeγενέσθαι;genesthaiG1096His disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101tooG2532, do you?”

28They spokeG3058abusivelyG3058to him and saidG3004, “You are His discipleμαθητὴςmathētēsG3101, butwe are disciplesμαθηταί.mathētaiG3101of MosesΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsG3475.

29We knowG3609that Godθεός,theosG2316has spokenλελάληκενlelalēkenG2980to MosesΜωϋσεῖMōuseiG3475,but as for thisG3778ManτοῦτονtoutonG3778,we do not knowG3609whereπόθενpothenG4159He is from.”

30The manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611and saidG3004to them, “WellγὰρgarG1063,hereἐν τούτῳen toutōG1722 G3778is the amazingG2298thingG2298,that you do not knowG3609whereπόθενpothenG4159He is from, and yetHe openedἤνοιξένēnoixenG455my eyesὀφθαλμούς.ophthalmousG3788!

31We knowG3609thatGodθεὸςtheosG2316does not listenἀκούει,akoueiG191to sinnersἁμαρτωλῶνhamartōlōnG268;but ifἐάνeanG1437someoneτιςtisG5100isGod-fearingθεοσεβὴςtheosebēsG2318and doesποιῇ,poiēaG4160His willθέλημαthelēmaG2307,He listensἀκούει.akoueiG191to him.

32SinceἐκekG1537the beginningG165ofG165timeG165it has neverοὐκoukG3756been heardἠκούσθηēkousthēG191that anyoneτιςtisG5100openedἠνέῳξένēneōxenG455the eyesὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmousG3788of a personG5185bornγεγεννημένου.gegennēmenouG1080blindτυφλοῦtuphlouG5185.

33IfεἰeiG1487thisG3778ManοὗτοςhoutosG3778were not from Godθεοῦ,theouG2316,He couldἠδύνατοēdunatoG1410doποιεῖνpoieinG4160nothingοὐκ οὐδέν.¶ouk oudenG3756 G3762.”

34They answeredἀπεκρίθησανapekrithēsanG611him, “You were bornἐγεννήθηςegennēthēsG1080entirelyὅλοςholosG3650in sinsἁμαρτίαιςhamartiaisG266, and yetyou are teachingδιδάσκειςdidaskeisG1321us?” SoG2532theyputG1544him outG1544.

35JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424heardἤκουσενēkousenG191that they hadputG1544him outG1544,and upon findingεὑρὼνheurōnG2147him, He saidG3004,“Do you believeπιστεύειςpisteueisG4100in theSonυἱὸνhuionG5207of Manἀνθρώπου;anthrōpouG444?”

36He answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611by sayingG3004, “AndwhoτίςtisG5101is He,Sirκύριε,kurieG2962,that I may believeπιστεύσωpisteusōG4100in Him?”

37JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004to him,“You have bothG2532seenἑώρακαςhe'ōrakasG3708Him, andHe is the One who is talkingλαλῶνlalōnG2980with you.”

38And he saidἔφη·ephēG5346, “I believeπιστεύω,pisteuōG4100,Lordκύριε,kurieG2962.” And heworshipedπροσεκύνησενprosekunēsenG4352Him.
