4And whenH3512Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּ֨הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֜הye.hu.DahH3063and allוְכֹ֣ל׀ve.KholH3605the menH376of warהַמִּלְחָמָ֗הha.mil.cha.MahH4421sawרָ֠אָםRa.'omH7200them, theyfledוַֽ֠יִּבְרְחוּVai.yiv.re.chuH1272and leftH3318the cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892at nightלַ֤יְלָהLay.lahH3915by wayדֶּ֚רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the king’sהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428gardenגַּ֣ןganH1588through the gateבְּשַׁ֖עַרbe.Sha.'arH8179betweenבֵּ֣יןbeinH996the two wallsהַחֹמֹתָ֑יִםha.cho.mo.Ta.yimH2346;and he wentH3318outH3318towardדֶּ֥רֶךְDe.rekhH1870theArabahהָעֲרָבָֽה׃ha.'a.ra.VahH6160.

5But the armyחֵיל־cheil-H2428of theChaldeansכַּשְׂדִּ֜יםkas.DimH3778pursuedוַיִּרְדְּפ֨וּvai.yir.de.FuH7291them and overtookוַיַּשִּׂ֣גוּvai.ya.Si.guH5381Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּהוּ֮tzid.ki.ya.HuH6667in theplainsבְּעַֽרְב֣וֹתbe.'ar.VotH6160of Jerichoיְרֵחוֹ֒ye.re.ChoH3405;and they tookוַיִּקְח֣וּvai.yik.ChuH3947him and broughtH5927him upH5927to Nebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֧רne.vu.khad.re.TzarH5019kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֛לba.VelH894atRiblahרִבְלָ֖תָהriv.La.tahH7247in the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Hamathחֲמָ֑תcha.MatH2574, and hepassedH1696sentenceH1696on him.

6Then thekingמֶ֨לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֜לba.VelH894slaughteredוַיִּשְׁחַט֩vai.yish.ChatH7819the sonsבְּנֵ֧יbe.NeiH1121of Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּ֛הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667before his eyesלְעֵינָ֑יוle.'ei.NavH5869at Riblahבְּרִבְלָ֖הbe.riv.LahH7247;the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶֽל׃ba.VelH894also slaughteredשָׁחַ֖טsha.ChatH7819allכָּל־kol-H3605thenoblesחֹרֵ֣יcho.ReiH2715of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063.

8The Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֖יםha.kas.DimH3778alsoburnedשָׂרְפ֥וּsa.re.FuH8313the king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428palaceבֵּ֤יתbeitH1004and the housesבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971with fireבָּאֵ֑שׁba.'EshH784, and theytoreH5422downH5422the wallsחֹמ֥וֹתcho.MotH2346of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֖םye.ru.sha.LimH3389.

9And as for the restיֶ֨תֶרYe.terH3499of the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971who were leftהַנִּשְׁאָרִ֣יםha.nish.'a.RimH7604in the cityבָּעִ֗ירba.'IrH5892, thedesertersהַנֹּֽפְלִים֙ha.no.fe.LimH5307whoאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834had desertedנָפְל֣וּna.fe.LuH5307to him andthe restיֶ֥תֶרYe.terH3499of the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971who remainedהַנִּשְׁאָרִ֑יםha.nish.'a.RimH7604,NebuzaradanH5018thecaptainרַב־rav-H7227of the bodyguardטַבָּחִ֖יםta.ba.ChimH2876tookH1540themintoH1540exileהֶגְלָ֛הheg.LahH1540in Babylonבָּבֶֽל׃ba.VelH894.

10But someוּמִן־u.min-H4480of thepoorestהַדַּלִּ֗יםha.da.LimH1800peopleהָעָ֣םha.'AmH5971,whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834hadH369nothingמְא֔וּמָהme.'U.mahH369 H3972,Nebuzaradanנְבוּזַרְאֲדָ֥ןne.vu.zar.'a.DanH5018the captainרַב־rav-H7227of the bodyguardטַבָּחִ֖יםta.ba.ChimH2876leftH7604behindH7604in the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,and gaveוַיִּתֵּ֥ןvai.yi.TenH5414them vineyardsכְּרָמִ֥יםke.ra.MimH3754and fieldsוִֽיגֵבִ֖יםvi.ge.VimH3010at that timeבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117.

12“Takeקָחֶ֗נּוּka.Che.nuH3947him andlookוְעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ שִׂ֣יםve.'ei.Nei.kha simH5869 H7760afterעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921him, anddo not doתַּ֥עַשׂTa.'asH6213anythingמְא֣וּמָהme.'U.mahH3972harmfulרָּ֑עRa'H7451to him, but ratherכִּ֗יKiH3588 H518dealעֲשֵׂ֥ה'a.SehH6213with him justH3512asH3512he tellsיְדַבֵּ֣רye.da.BerH1696you.”

13So Nebuzaradanנְבֽוּזַרְאֲדָ֣ןne.vu.zar.'a.DanH5018the captainH7227of the bodyguardטַבָּחִ֗יםta.ba.ChimH2876sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֞חvai.yish.LachH7971word,along with Nebushazbanוּנְבֽוּשַׁזְבָּן֙u.ne.vu.shaz.BanH5021theRab-sarisH7249,Nergal-sar-ezerH5371theRab-magH7248,and allוְכֹ֖לve.KholH3605the leadingH7227officersH7227of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶֽל׃ba.VelH894;

14they even sentוַיִּשְׁלְחוּ֩vai.yish.le.ChuH7971word andtookוַיִּקְח֨וּvai.yik.ChuH3947Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֜הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414out of the courtyardמֵחֲצַ֣רme.cha.TzarH2691of the guardhouseהַמַּטָּרָ֗הha.ma.ta.RahH4307and entrustedוַיִּתְּנ֤וּvai.yi.te.NuH5414him toGedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֙הוּ֙ge.dal.Ya.huH1436,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121ofAhikamאֲחִיקָ֣ם'a.chi.KamH296,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Shaphanשָׁפָ֔ןsha.FanH8227,to takeלְהוֹצִאֵ֖הוּle.ho.tzi.'E.huH3318him homeהַבָּ֑יִתha.Ba.yitH1004.So he stayedוַיֵּ֖שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427amongבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the peopleהָעָֽם׃ סha.'AmH5971.

15Now the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068had comeH1961to Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֖הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414while he wasconfinedעָצ֔וּר'a.TzurH6113in the courtyardבַּחֲצַ֥רba.cha.TzarH2691of the guardhouseהַמַּטָּרָ֖הha.ma.ta.RahH4307,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

17But I willsaveוְהִצַּלְתִּ֥יךָve.hi.tzal.Ti.khaH5337you on that dayבַיּוֹם־vai.yom-H3117,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “and you will not be handedבְּיַ֣דbe.YadH5414 H3027overH5414to the menH376of whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you are afraidיָג֖וֹרya.GorH3016.

18For I will assuredlyמַלֵּט֙ma.LetH4422rescueאֲמַלֶּטְךָ֔'a.ma.let.KhaH4422you, and you will not fallתִפֹּ֑לti.PolH5307by the swordוּבַחֶ֖רֶבu.va.Che.revH2719;but you will haveוְהָיְתָ֨הve.ha.ye.TahH1961your ownlifeנַפְשְׁךָ֙naf.she.KhaH5315as plunderלְשָׁלָ֔לle.sha.LalH7998,becauseH3588you havetrustedבָטַ֥חְתָּva.Tach.taH982in Me,” declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068.’”
