1“RoamH7751aboutH7751through the streetsבְּחוּצ֣וֹתbe.chu.TzotH2351of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,And lookוּרְאוּ־u.re.'u-H7200and takeH3045noticeH3045.And seekוּבַקְשׁ֣וּu.vak.ShuH1245in her publicH7339squaresH7339,Ifאִם־'im-H518you canfindתִּמְצְא֣וּtim.tze.'UH4672a personאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376,Ifאִם־'im-H518thereH3426isH3426one who doesעֹשֶׂ֥ה'o.SehH6213justiceמִשְׁפָּ֖טmish.PatH4941,who seeksמְבַקֵּ֣שׁme.va.KeshH1245honestyאֱמוּנָ֑ה'e.mu.NahH530,Then I will forgiveוְאֶסְלַ֖חve.'es.LachH5545her.

2Andalthoughוְאִ֥םve.'ImH518they sayיֹאמֵ֑רוּyo.Me.ruH559, ‘As the Lordיְהֹוָ֖הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,’Certainlyלָכֵ֥ןla.KhenH3651they swearיִשָּׁבֵֽעוּ׃yi.sha.Ve.'uH7650falselyלַשֶּׁ֖קֶרla.She.kerH8267.”

3Lordיְהֹוָ֗הYah.wehH3068, doYour eyesעֵינֶיךָ֮'ei.nei.KhaH5869not lookfor honestyלֶאֱמוּנָה֒le.'e.mu.NahH530? You havestruckהִכִּ֤יתָהhi.Ki.tahH5221them, But they did notweakenH2470;You have consumedכִּלִּיתָ֕םki.li.TamH3615them, But theyrefusedמֵאֲנ֖וּme.'a.NuH3985to acceptקַ֣חַתKa.chatH3947disciplineמוּסָ֑רmu.SarH4148. They havemadeH2388their facesפְנֵיהֶם֙fe.nei.HemH6440harderH2388thanH4480rockמִסֶּ֔לַעmi.Se.la'H5553;They have refusedמֵאֲנ֖וּme.'a.NuH3985to repentלָשֽׁוּב׃la.ShuvH7725.

4Then I saidאָמַ֔רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559, “They are onlyאַךְ־'akh-H389the poorדַּלִּ֖יםda.LimH1800,They areH2973foolishH2973; For theydo not knowיָדְעוּ֙ya.de.'UH3045the wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068Orthe judgmentמִשְׁפַּ֖טmish.PatH4941of their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃'e.lo.hei.HemH430.

5I will goאֵֽלֲכָה־'e.la.khah-H1980to the greatהַגְּדֹלִים֙ha.ge.do.LimH1419And speakוַאֲדַבְּרָ֣הva.'a.da.be.RahH1696to them, Forthey knowיָדְעוּ֙ya.de.'UH3045the wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068Andthe judgmentמִשְׁפַּ֖טmish.PatH4941of their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430.”But togetherיַחְדָּו֙yach.DavH3162they too havebrokenשָׁ֣בְרוּSha.ve.ruH7665the yokeעֹ֔ל'OlH5923Andburstנִתְּק֖וּni.te.KuH5423the restraintsמוֹסֵרֽוֹת׃mo.se.RotH4147.

6Thereforeכֵּן֩kenH5921 H3651a lionH743from the forestמִיַּ֗עַרmi.Ya.'arH3293will killהִכָּ֨םhi.KamH5221them, Awolfזְאֵ֤בze.'EvH2061of the desertsעֲרָבוֹת֙a.ra.VotH6160will destroyיְשָׁדְדֵ֔םye.sha.de.DemH7703them, Aleopardנָמֵ֤רna.MerH5246is watchingשֹׁקֵד֙sho.KedH8245their citiesעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם'a.rei.HemH5892.Everyoneכָּל־kol-H3605who goesH3318outH3318of them will be tornיִטָּרֵ֑ףyi.ta.RefH2963inH2963piecesH2963,Becauseכִּ֤יkiH3588theirwrongdoingsפִּשְׁעֵיהֶ֔םpish.'ei.HemH6588areH7231manyרַבּוּ֙ra.BuH7231,Their apostasiesמְשׁוּבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃me.shu.vo.tei.hemH4878areH6105numerousעָצְמ֖וּ'a.tze.MuH6105.

7“Whyאֵ֤י'eiH335should I forgiveאֶֽסְלַֽח'es.lo.ach-H5545you?Your sonsבָּנַ֣יִךְba.Na.yikhH1121have forsakenעֲזָב֔וּנִי'a.za.Vu.niH5800Me Andswornוַיִּשָּׁבְע֖וּvai.yi.sha.ve.'UH7650by those who arenot godsאֱלֹהִ֑ים'E.lo.HimH430.When I had fedH7646them toH7646theH7646fullH7646, TheycommittedH5003adulteryוַיִּנְאָ֔פוּvai.yin.'A.fuH5003And stayedH1481at the prostitute’sזוֹנָ֖הzo.NahH2181houseוּבֵ֥יתu.VeitH1004.

8They were well-fedמְיֻזָּנִ֖יםme.yu.za.NimH2109lustyמַשְׁכִּ֣יםmash.KimH7904horsesסוּסִ֥יםsu.SimH5483,EachH376oneH376neighingיִצְהָֽלוּ׃yitz.Ha.luH6670atאֶל־'el-H413hisneighbor’sרֵעֵ֖הוּre.'E.huH7453wifeאֵ֥שֶׁת'E.shetH802.

9Shall I not punishאֶפְקֹ֖ד'ef.KodH6485themfor theseאֵ֥לֶּה'E.lehH428things?”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהֹוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “Andshall I not avengeתִתְנַקֵּ֖םtit.na.KemH5358Myselfנַפְשִֽׁי׃ סnaf.ShiH5315On a nationבְּג֣וֹיbe.GoyH1471suchאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834as thisכָּזֶ֔הka.ZehH2088?

10“Goעֲל֤וּ'a.LuH5927upH5927through her vineH7795rowsH7795and destroyוְשַׁחֵ֔תוּve.sha.Che.tuH7843,But do not executeתַּעֲשׂ֑וּta.'a.SuH6213a completeוְכָלָ֖הve.kha.LahH3617destructionH3617;StripH5493awayH5493her branchesנְטִ֣ישׁוֹתֶ֔יהָne.Ti.sho.Tei.haH5189,For they are not the Lord’sלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.

11For thehouseבֵּ֧יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478and the houseוּבֵ֥יתu.VeitH1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063Have dealtH898veryH898treacherouslyH898with Me,” declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

12They haveliedכִּֽחֲשׁוּ֙ki.cha.ShuH3584about the Lordבַּיהוָ֔הba.Yah.wehH3068And saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “Not He;MisfortuneH7463willnot comeתָב֤וֹאta.Vo'H935upon us,Nor will we seeנִרְאֶֽה׃nir.'EhH7200swordוְחֶ֥רֶבve.Che.revH2719or famineוְרָעָ֖בve.ra.'AvH7458.

13Theprophetsוְהַנְּבִיאִים֙ve.ha.ne.vi.'ImH5030are aswindלְר֔וּחַle.Ru.achH7307,And the wordוְהַדִּבֵּ֖רve.ha.di.BerH1699is not in them.Soכֹּ֥הkohH3541it will be doneיֵעָשֶׂ֖הye.'a.SehH6213to them!”

Judgment Proclaimed

14Thereforeלָכֵ֗ןla.KhenH3651,thisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of armiesצְבָא֔וֹתtze.va.'otH6635saysאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559: “Becauseיַ֚עַןYa.'anH3282you have spokenדַּבֶּרְכֶ֔םda.ber.KhemH1696thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088wordהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697,BeholdH2009, I ammakingנֹתֵן֩no.TenH5414My wordsדְּבָרַ֨יde.va.RaiH1697fireלְאֵ֗שׁle.'EshH784in your mouthבְּפִ֜יךָbe.Fi.khaH6310,And thisהַזֶּ֛הha.ZehH2088peopleוְהָעָ֥םve.ha.'AmH5971woodעֵצִ֖ים'e.TzimH6086,and it will consumeוַאֲכָלָֽתַם׃va.'a.kha.La.tamH398them.

15BeholdH2009, I ambringingמֵבִיא֩me.Vi'H935a nationגּ֧וֹיGoyH1471againstעֲלֵיכֶ֨ם'a.lei.KhemH5921you from farH4801awayH4801,you houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהֹוָ֑הYah.wehH3068. “It is an enduringאֵיתָ֣ן'ei.TanH386nationגּ֣וֹי׀GoyH1471,It is an ancientמֵעוֹלָם֙me.'o.LamH5769nationגּ֤וֹיGoyH1471,A nationגּ֚וֹיGoyH1471whoselanguageלְשֹׁנ֔וֹle.sho.NoH3956you do not knowתֵדַ֣עte.Da'H3045,NorH3808can you understandתִשְׁמַ֖עtish.Ma'H8085whatמַה־mah-H4100they sayיְדַבֵּֽר׃ye.da.BerH1696.

16Theirquiverאַשְׁפָּת֖וֹ'ash.pa.ToH827is like anopenפָּת֑וּחַpa.Tu.achH6605graveכְּקֶ֣בֶרke.Ke.verH6913,Allכֻּלָּ֖םku.LamH3605of them are warriorsגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃gi.bo.RimH1368.

17They willdevourוְאָכַ֨לve.'a.KhalH398your harvestקְצִֽירְךָ֜ke.tzi.re.ChaH7105and your foodוְלַחְמֶ֗ךָve.lach.Me.khaH3899;They will devourיֹאכְלוּ֙yo.khe.LuH398your sonsבָּנֶ֣יךָba.Nei.khaH1121and your daughtersוּבְנוֹתֶ֔יךָu.ve.no.Tei.khaH1323;They will devourיֹאכַ֤לyo.KhalH398your flocksצֹאנְךָ֙tzo.ne.KhaH6629and your herdsוּבְקָרֶ֔ךָu.ve.ka.Re.chaH1241;They will devourיֹאכַ֥לyo.KhalH398yourvinesגַּפְנְךָ֖gaf.ne.KhaH1612and your figוּתְאֵנָתֶ֑ךָu.te.'e.na.Te.khaH8384treesH8384;They will demolishיְרֹשֵׁ֞שׁye.ro.SheshH7567yourfortifiedמִבְצָרֶ֗יךָmiv.tza.Rei.khaH4013citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892,in whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you trustבּוֹטֵ֥חַbo.Te.achH982,with the swordבֶּחָֽרֶב׃be.Cha.revH2719.

18“Yet evenוְגַ֛םve.GamH1571in thoseהָהֵ֖מָּהha.He.mahH1992daysבַּיָּמִ֥יםbai.ya.MimH3117,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהֹוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “I will not makeאֶעֱשֶׂ֥ה'e.'e.SehH6213a completeכָּלָֽה׃ka.LahH3617destructionH3617of you.

19And it shall comeH1961aboutH1961whenכִּ֣יkiH3588they sayתֹאמְר֔וּto.me.RuH559, ‘Whyתַּ֣חַת מֶ֗הTa.chat MehH8478 H4100has the Lordיְהֹוָ֧הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430doneעָשָׂ֨ה'a.SahH6213allכָּל־kol-H3605theseH428thingsאֵ֑לֶּה'E.lehH428to us?’ then you shall sayוְאָמַרְתָּ֣ve.'a.mar.TaH559to them, ‘JustH3512asH3512you have abandonedעֲזַבְתֶּ֤ם'a.zav.TemH5800Me and servedוַתַּעַבְד֞וּva.ta.'av.DuH5647foreignנֵכָר֙ne.KharH5236godsאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430in your landבְּאַרְצְכֶ֔םbe.'ar.tze.KhemH776,soכֵּ֚ןkenH3651you willserveתַּעַבְד֣וּta.'av.DuH5647strangersזָרִ֔יםza.RimH2114in a landבְּאֶ֖רֶץbe.'E.retzH776that is not yours.’

20“Declareהַגִּ֥ידוּha.Gi.duH5046thisH2088in the houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of Jacobיַעֲקֹ֑בya.'a.KoH3290And proclaimוְהַשְׁמִיע֥וּהָve.hash.mi.'U.haH8085it in Judahבִיהוּדָ֖הvi.hu.DahH3063,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

21‘Nowנָ֣אna'H4994hearשִׁמְעוּ־shim.'u-H8085thisH2088,you foolishסָכָ֖לsa.KhalH5530andsenselessוְאֵ֣ין לֵ֑בve.'Ein LevH369 H3820peopleעַ֥ם'amH5971, Who haveeyesעֵינַ֤יִם'ei.Na.yimH5869but do not seeיִרְא֔וּyir.'UH7200,Who have earsאָזְנַ֥יִם'a.ze.Na.yimH241but do not hearיִשְׁמָֽעוּ׃yish.Ma.'uH8085.

22Do you notfearתִירָ֜אוּti.Ra.'uH3372Me?’ declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהֹוָ֗הYah.wehH3068. ‘Do you not trembleתָחִ֔ילוּta.Chi.luH2342in My presenceמִפָּנַי֙mi.pa.NaiH6440? For I haveplacedשַׂ֤מְתִּיSam.tiH7760the sandחוֹל֙chOlH2344as a boundaryגְּב֣וּלge.VulH1366for the seaלַיָּ֔םlai.YamH3220,An eternalעוֹלָ֖םo.LamH5769limitחָק־chok-H2706,and it will not crossH5674overH5674it.Though the wavesגַלָּ֖יוga.LavH1530tossוַיִּֽתְגָּעֲשׁוּ֙vai.yit.ga.'a.ShuH1607,they cannotH3808prevailיוּכָ֔לוּyu.Kha.luH3201;Though they roarוְהָמ֥וּve.ha.MuH1993,they will not crossH5674overH5674it.

23But thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088peopleוְלָעָ֤םve.la.'AmH5971hasהָיָ֔הha.YahH1961astubbornסוֹרֵ֣רso.RerH5637and rebelliousוּמוֹרֶ֑הu.mo.RehH4784heartלֵ֖בlevH3820;They have turnedH5493asideסָ֖רוּSa.ruH5493and departedוַיֵּלֵֽכוּ׃vai.ye.Le.khuH1980.

24They do not sayאָמְר֣וּ'a.me.RuH559in their heartבִלְבָבָ֗םvil.va.VamH3824, “Let us nowנָא֙na'H4994fearנִ֤ירָאNi.ra'H3372the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430, Whogivesהַנֹּתֵ֗ןha.no.TenH5414rainגֶּ֛שֶׁםGe.shemH1653in its seasonבְּעִתּ֑וֹbe.'i.ToH6256, Boththe autumnיוֹרֶ֥הve.yo.rehH3138rainH3138and the springוּמַלְק֖וֹשׁu.mal.Ko.oshH4456rainH4456,Who keepsיִשְׁמָר־yish.mor-H8104for us Theappointedחֻקּ֥וֹתchu.KotH2708weeksשְׁבֻע֛וֹתshe.vu.'otH7620of the harvestקָצִ֖ירka.TzirH7105.”

25Yourwrongdoingsעֲוֹנוֹתֵיכֶ֖םa.vo.no.tei.KhemH5771have turnedהִטּוּ־hi.tu-H5186theseאֵ֑לֶּה'E.lehH428awayH5186,And your sinsוְחַטֹּ֣אותֵיכֶ֔םve.cha.To.tei.KhemH2403have keptH4513goodהַטּ֖וֹבha.TovH2896awayH4513from you.

26For wickedרְשָׁעִ֑יםre.sha.'ImH7563peopleH7563are foundנִמְצְא֥וּnim.tze.'UH4672among My peopleבְעַמִּ֖יve.'a.MiH5971, Theywatchיָשׁוּר֙ya.ShurH7789like fowlersיְקוּשִׁ֔יםye.ku.ShimH3353lyingH7918inH7918waitH7918;They setהִצִּ֥יבוּhi.Tzi.vuH5324a trapמַשְׁחִ֖יתmash.ChitH4889,They catchיִלְכֹּֽדוּ׃yil.Ko.duH3920peopleH376.

27Like a cageכִּכְלוּב֙kikh.LuvH3619fullמָ֣לֵאMa.le'H4392of birdsע֔וֹףofH5775,Soכֵּ֥ןkenH3651their housesבָּתֵּיהֶ֖םba.tei.HemH1004are fullמְלֵאִ֣יםme.le.'ImH4392ofdeceitמִרְמָ֑הmir.MahH4820;Thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֥ן'al- kenH5921 H3651they have becomeגָּדְל֖וּga.de.LuH1431greatH1431and richוַֽיַּעֲשִֽׁירוּ׃Vai.ya.'a.Shi.ruH6238.

28They areH8080fatשָׁמְנ֣וּsha.me.NuH8080,they are sleekעָשְׁת֗וּ'a.she.TuH6245,They alsoגַּ֚םgamH1571excelעָֽבְר֣וּ'a.ve.RuH5674in deedsדִבְרֵי־div.rei-H1697of wickednessרָ֔עRa'H7451;They do not pleadדָ֔נוּDa.nuH1777the causeדִּ֣יןdinH1779,The causeדִּ֥יןdinH1779of theorphanיָת֖וֹםya.TomH3490,so that they may beH6743successfulH6743; And they do notdefendשָׁפָֽטוּ׃sha.Fa.tuH8199the rightsוּמִשְׁפַּ֥טu.mish.PatH4941of the poorאֶבְיוֹנִ֖ים'ev.yo.NimH34.

29Shall I not punishאֶפְקֹ֖ד'ef.KodH6485themfor theseאֵ֥לֶּה'E.lehH428things?’declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהֹוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, ‘Or shall I not avengeתִתְנַקֵּ֖םtit.na.KemH5358Myselfנַפְשִֽׁי׃ סnaf.ShiH5315On a nationבְּג֣וֹיbe.GoyH1471suchאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834as thisכָּזֶ֔הka.ZehH2088?’

30“An appallingשַׁמָּה֙sha.MahH8047andhorribleוְשַׁ֣עֲרוּרָ֔הve.Sha.'a.ru.RahH8186thingH8186Has happenedנִהְיְתָ֖הnih.ye.TahH1961in the landבָּאָֽרֶץ׃ba.'A.retzH776:

31Theprophetsהַנְּבִיאִ֞יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030prophesyנִבְּא֣וּ־ni.be.'U-H5012falselyבַשֶּׁ֗קֶרva.She.kerH8267,And the priestsוְהַכֹּהֲנִים֙ve.ha.ko.ha.NimH3548ruleיִרְדּ֣וּyir.DuH7287on their ownauthorityיְדֵיהֶ֔םye.dei.HemH3027;And My peopleוְעַמִּ֖יve.'a.MiH5971loveאָ֣הֲבוּ'A.ha.vuH157it thisH3651wayH3651!But whatוּמַֽה־u.mah-H4100will you doתַּעֲשׂ֖וּta.'a.SuH6213when the endלְאַחֲרִיתָֽהּ׃le.'a.cha.ri.TahH319comes?
