But youare a prostituteזָנִית֙za.NitH2181withmanyרַבִּ֔יםra.BimH7227loversרֵעִ֣יםre.'ImH7453; Yet youturnוְשׁ֥וֹבve.ShovH7725to Me,” declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהֹוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

2“Raiseשְׂאִֽי־se.'i-H5375your eyesעֵינַ֨יִךְ'ei.Na.yikhH5869to thebareשְׁפָיִ֜םshe.fa.YimH8205heightsH8205and seeוּרְאִ֗יu.re.'IH7200;Whereאֵיפֹה֙'ei.FohH375have you not been violatedH7693? You havesatיָשַׁ֣בְתְּya.ShavtH3427for them by the roadsדְּרָכִים֙de.ra.KhimH1870Like an Arabכַּעֲרָבִ֖יka.'a.ra.ViH6163in the desertבַּמִּדְבָּ֑רba.mid.BarH4057, And you havedefiledוַתַּחֲנִ֣יפִיva.ta.cha.Ni.fiH2610a landאֶ֔רֶץ'E.retzH776With your prostitutionH2183and your wickednessH7463.

3Therefore theshowersרְבִבִ֔יםre.vi.VimH7241have been withheldוַיִּמָּנְע֣וּvai.yi.ma.ne.'UH4513,And there has beenהָיָ֑הha.YahH1961noל֣וֹאLo'H3808springוּמַלְק֖וֹשׁu.mal.Ko.oshH4456rainH4456.Yet you hadהָ֣יָהHa.yahH1961aprostitute’sאִשָּׁ֤ה זוֹנָה֙'i.Shah zo.NahH802 H2181foreheadוּמֵ֨צַחu.Me.tzachH4696;You refusedמֵאַ֖נְתְּme.'AntH3985to be ashamedהִכָּלֵֽם׃hi.ka.LemH3637.

4Have you not just nowמֵעַ֔תָּהme.'A.tahH6258calledקָרָ֥אתka.ra.tiH7121to Me, ‘My Fatherאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1, You are thefriendאַלּ֥וּף'a.LufH441of myyouthנְעֻרַ֖יne.'u.RaiH5271?

5Will He beH5201angryH5201foreverלְעוֹלָ֔םle.'o.LamH5769,Orאִם־'im-H518keepיִשְׁמֹ֖רyish.MorH8104His angerto the endלָנֶ֑צַחla.Ne.tzachH5331?’Beholdהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,you have spokenדִבַּ֛רְתְּdi.bar.tiH1696And have doneוַתַּעֲשִׂ֥יva.ta.'a.SiH6213evilH7451thingsH7451, And you havehadH3201your own wayH3201.”

Faithless Israel

6Then the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me in the daysבִּימֵי֙bi.MeiH3117of Kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Josiahיֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּyo.shi.Ya.huH2977, “Have you seenהֲֽרָאִ֔יתָhara.'I.taH7200whatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834faithlessמְשֻׁבָ֣הme.shu.VahH4878Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478didעָשְׂתָ֖ה'a.se.TahH6213? Shewentהֹלְכָ֨הho.le.KhahH1980up on everyכָּל־kol-H3605highגָּבֹ֗הַּga.Vo.ahH1364hillהַ֣רharH2022and underתַּ֛חַתTa.chatH8478everyכָּל־kol-H3605leafyרַעֲנָ֖ןra.'a.NanH7488treeעֵ֥ץ'etzH6086,and she prostitutedוַתִּזְנִי־va.tiz.ni-H2181herself thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

7Yet Ithoughtוָאֹמַ֗רva.'o.MarH559, ‘Afterאַחֲרֵ֨י'a.cha.ReiH310she has doneעֲשׂוֹתָ֧הּa.so.TahH6213allכָּל־kol-H3605theseH428thingsאֵ֛לֶּה'E.lehH428she will returnתָּשׁ֖וּבta.ShuvH7725to Me’; but she did not returnשָׁ֑בָהSha.vahH7725, and hertreacherousבָּגוֹדָ֥הba.go.DahH901sisterאֲחוֹתָ֖הּ'a.cho.TahH269Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063sawוַתֵּ֛רֶאva.te.reh'H7200it.

8And I sawוָאֵ֗רֶאva.'E.re'H7200that for allכָּל־kol-H3605theadulteriesנִֽאֲפָה֙ni.'a.FahH5003of faithlessמְשֻׁבָ֣הme.shu.VahH4878Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,I had sentH7971her awayשִׁלַּחְתִּ֕יהָshi.lach.Ti.haH7971andgivenוָאֶתֵּ֛ןva.'e.TenH5414her a certificateסֵ֥פֶרSe.ferH5612of divorceכְּרִיתֻתֶ֖יהָke.ri.tu.Tei.haH3748, yet hertreacherousבֹּֽגֵדָ֤הbo.ge.DahH898sisterאֲחוֹתָ֔הּ'a.cho.TahH269Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063did not fearיָֽרְאָ֜הya.re.'AhH3372;but she wentוַתֵּ֖לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980and prostitutedוַתִּ֥זֶןva.Ti.zenH2181herself alsoגַּם־gam-H1571.

9And becauseH4480of the thoughtlessnessH7032of her prostitutionזְנוּתָ֔הּze.nu.TahH2184, shedefiledוַתֶּחֱנַ֖ףva.te.che.NafH2610the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776and committedH5003adulteryוַתִּנְאַ֥ףva.tin.'AfH5003withstonesהָאֶ֖בֶןha.'E.venH68and treesהָעֵֽץ׃ha.'EtzH6086.

10Yetוְגַם־ve.gam-H1571in spite of allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605thisH2088her treacherousבָּגוֹדָ֧הba.go.DahH901sisterאֲחוֹתָ֛הּ'a.cho.TahH269Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063did not returnשָׁ֨בָהSha.vahH7725to Me with allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605her heartלִבָּ֑הּli.BahH3820,but ratherכִּ֥י אִם־ki 'im-H3588 H518indeceptionבְּשֶׁ֖קֶרbe.She.kerH8267,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ פYah.wehH3068.

God Invites Repentance

11And the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, “Faithlessמְשֻׁבָ֣הme.shu.VahH4878Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478has provedH6663herselfנַפְשָׁ֖הּnaf.ShahH5315toH6663beH6663moreH4480righteousצִדְּקָ֥הtzi.de.KahH6663thanH4480treacherousמִבֹּגֵדָ֖הmi.bo.ge.DahH898Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063.

12Goהָלֹ֡ךְha.LokhH1980and proclaimוְקָֽרָאתָ֩ve.ka.ra.TaH7121theseהָאֵ֜לֶּהha.'E.lehH428wordsהַדְּבָרִ֨יםha.de.va.RimH1697toward the northצָפ֗וֹנָהtza.Fo.nahH6828and sayוְ֠אָמַרְתָּVe.'a.mar.taH559, ‘Returnשׁ֣וּבָהShu.vahH7725,faithlessמְשֻׁבָ֤הme.shu.VahH4878Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478,’declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068; ‘I will notlookH5307at you inH5307angerH5307. For I amgraciousחָסִ֤ידcha.SidH2623,’declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068; ‘I will not beH5201angryH5201foreverלְעוֹלָֽם׃le.'o.LamH5769.

13Onlyאַ֚ךְ'akhH389acknowledgeדְּעִ֣יde.'IH3045your wrongdoingעֲוֹנֵ֔ךְ'a.vo.NekhH5771,That you have revoltedפָּשָׁ֑עַתְּpa.Sha.'atH6586against the Lordבַּיהוָ֥הba.Yah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהַ֖יִךְ'e.lo.Ha.yikhH430, And havescatteredוַתְּפַזְּרִ֨יva.te.fa.ze.RiH6340yourfavorsדְּרָכַ֜יִךְde.ra.Kha.yikhH1870to the strangersלַזָּרִ֗יםla.za.RimH2114underתַּ֚חַתTa.chatH8478everyכָּל־kol-H3605leafyרַעֲנָ֔ןra.'a.NanH7488treeעֵ֣ץ'etzH6086,And you have not obeyedשְׁמַעְתֶּ֖םshe.ma'.TemH8085My voiceוּבְקוֹלִ֥יu.ve.ko.LiH6963,’declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהֹוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

14‘Returnשׁ֣וּבוּShu.vuH7725,you faithlessשׁוֹבָבִים֙shoa.VimH7726sonsבָנִ֤יםva.NimH1121,’declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068; ‘For I amH1166aH1166masterH1166to you,And I will takeוְלָקַחְתִּ֨יve.la.kach.TiH3947you, oneאֶחָ֣ד'e.ChadH259from a cityמֵעִ֗ירme.'IrH5892and twoוּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙u.she.Na.yimH8147from a familyמִמִּשְׁפָּחָ֔הmi.mish.pa.ChahH4940, Andbringוְהֵבֵאתִ֥יve.he.ve.TiH935you to Zionצִיּֽוֹן׃tzi.YonH6726.’

15“Then I will giveוְנָתַתִּ֥יve.na.ta.TiH5414youshepherdsרֹעִ֖יםro.'ImH7462after My own heartכְּלִבִּ֑יke.li.BiH3820, who willfeedוְרָע֥וּve.ra.'UH7462you knowledgeדֵּעָ֥הde.'AhH1844and understandingוְהַשְׂכֵּֽיל׃ve.has.KeilH7919.

16And it shall be in thoseהָהֵ֙מָּה֙ha.He.mahH1992daysבַּיָּמִ֤יםbai.ya.MimH3117whenכִּ֣יkiH3588you becomeH7235numerousH7235and areH6509fruitfulוּפְרִיתֶ֨םu.fe.ri.TemH6509in the landבָּאָ֜רֶץba.'A.retzH776,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, “they willnoH3808longerע֗וֹדodH5750sayיֹ֣אמְרוּYo.me.ruH559, ‘The arkאֲרוֹן֙'a.rOnH727of the covenantבְּרִית־be.rit-H1285of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068.’And it will not comeיַעֲלֶ֖הya.'a.LehH5927to mindלֵ֑בLevH3820,norH3808will they rememberיִזְכְּרוּ־yiz.ke.ru-H2142it, norH3808missיִפְקֹ֔דוּyif.Ko.duH6485it,norH3808will it be madeיֵעָשֶׂ֖הye.'a.SehH6213againעֽוֹד׃odH5750.

17At that timeבָּעֵ֣תba.'EtH6256they will callיִקְרְא֤וּyik.re.'UH7121Jerusalemלִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙li.ru.sha.LimH3389‘TheThroneכִּסֵּ֣אki.Se'H3678of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,’ andallכָֽל־khol-H3605the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֛םha.go.YimH1471will assembleוְנִקְוּ֨וּve.nikv.VuH6960at it, at Jerusalemלִירוּשָׁלִָ֑םli.ru.sha.LimH3389, for thenameלְשֵׁ֥םle.ShemH8034of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068;and they will noוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808longerע֔וֹדodH5750followיֵלְכ֣וּ אַחֲרֵ֕יye.le.Khu 'a.cha.ReiH1980 H310the stubbornnessשְׁרִר֖וּתshe.ri.RutH8307of their evilהָרָֽע׃ סha.Ra'H7451heartלִבָּ֥םli.BamH3820.

18In thoseהָהֵ֔מָּהha.He.mahH1992daysבַּיָּמִ֣יםbai.ya.MimH3117the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063will walkיֵלְכ֥וּye.le.KhuH1980with the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and they will comeוְיָבֹ֤אוּve.ya.Vo.'uH935togetherH3164from the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of the northצָפ֔וֹןtza.FonH6828to thelandהָאָ֕רֶץha.'A.retzH776that I gaveH5157your fathersאֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃'a.vo.tei.KhemH1asH5157anH5157inheritanceהִנְחַ֖לְתִּיhin.Chal.tiH5157.

19“Then I saidאָמַ֗רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559, ‘Howאֵ֚יךְ'eikhH349I would setאֲשִׁיתֵ֣ךְ'a.shi.TekhH7896you amongMy sonsבַּבָּנִ֔יםba.ba.NimH1121And giveוְאֶתֶּן־ve.'e.ten-H5414you a pleasantחֶמְדָּ֔הchem.DahH2532landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776,The mostצְבִ֖יtze.ViH6643beautifulצִבְא֣וֹתtziv.'otH6643inheritanceנַחֲלַ֥תna.cha.LatH5159of the nationsגּוֹיִ֑םgo.YimH1471!’And I saidוָאֹמַ֗רva.'o.MarH559, ‘You shall callתִּקְרְאִיtik.re.'u-H7121Me,My Fatherאָבִי֙'a.ViH1,And not turnתָשֽׁוּבִי׃ta.shu.vuH7725awayH7725from followingוּמֵאַחֲרַ֖יu.me.'a.cha.RaiH310Me.’

20Howeverאָכֵ֛ן'a.KhenH403, asa womanאִשָּׁ֖ה'i.ShahH802treacherouslyבָּגְדָ֥הba.ge.DahH898leavesH898 H4480her loverמֵרֵעָ֑הּme.re.'AhH7453,Soכֵּ֣ןkenH3651you havedealtבְּגַדְתֶּ֥םbe.gad.TemH898treacherouslyH898with Me,Houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

21A voiceק֚וֹלKolH6963is heardנִשְׁמָ֔עnish.Ma'H8085on thebareשְׁפָיִ֣יםshe.fa.YimH8205heightsH8205,The weepingבְּכִ֥יbe.KhiH1065,the pleadingתַחֲנוּנֵ֖יta.cha.nu.NeiH8469of the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478.Becauseכִּ֤יkiH3588they have pervertedהֶעֱוּוּ֙he.'e.VuH5753their wayדַּרְכָּ֔םdar.KamH1870, They haveforgottenשָׁכְח֖וּsha.khe.ChuH7911the Lordיְהֹוָ֥הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃'e.lo.hei.HemH430.

22“Returnשׁ֚וּבוּShu.vuH7725,you faithlessשׁוֹבָבִ֔יםshoa.VimH7726sonsבָּנִ֣יםba.NimH1121,I will healאֶרְפָּ֖ה'er.PahH7495your faithlessnessמְשׁוּבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑םme.shu.vo.tei.KhemH4878.” “BeholdH2009,we comeאָתָ֣נוּ'a.Ta.nuH857to You;For You are the Lordיְהֹוָ֥הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃'e.lo.Hei.nuH430.

23Certainlyאָכֵ֥ן'a.KhenH403the hillsמִגְּבָע֖וֹתmi.ge.va.'otH1389are a deceptionלַשֶּׁ֛קֶרla.She.kerH8267,Commotionהָמ֣וֹןha.MonH1995onthe mountainsהָרִ֑יםha.RimH2022.Certainlyאָכֵן֙'a.KhenH403in theLordבַּיהֹוָ֣הba.Yah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430Is the salvationתְּשׁוּעַ֖תte.shu.'AtH8668of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

24“Butthe shameוְהַבֹּ֗שֶׁתve.ha.Bo.shetH1322has consumedאָֽכְלָ֛ה'a.khe.LahH398the productH3018ofH3018our fathers’אֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ'a.vo.Tei.nuH1laborH3018sinceH4480our youthמִנְּעוּרֵ֑ינוּmi.ne.'u.Rei.nuH5271--their flocksצֹאנָם֙tzo.NamH6629and their herdsבְּקָרָ֔םbe.ka.RamH1241,their sonsבְּנֵיהֶ֖םbe.nei.HemH1121and their daughtersבְּנוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃be.no.tei.HemH1323.
