The Coming Messiah: the Righteous Branch

1“Woeה֣וֹיHoH1945to the shepherdsרֹעִ֗יםro.'ImH7462who are causing thesheepצֹ֥אןtzonH6629of My pastureמַרְעִיתִ֖יmar.'i.TiH4830toperishמְאַבְּדִ֧יםme.'a.be.DimH6and are scatteringוּמְפִצִ֛יםu.me.fi.TzimH6327them!”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

2Thereforeלָ֠כֵןLa.khenH3651thisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559concerningH5921the shepherdsהָרֹעִים֮ha.ro.'ImH7462who aretendingהָרֹעִ֣יםha.ro.'ImH7462My peopleעַמִּי֒'a.MiH5971: “You have scatteredהֲפִצֹתֶ֤םha.fi.tzo.TemH6327My flockצֹאנִי֙tzo.NiH6629and drivenH5080them awayוַתַּדִּח֔וּםva.ta.di.ChumH5080,and have not been concernedH6485about them; beholdH2009, I am going tocallH6485you toH6485accountH6485for theevilרֹ֥עַRo.a'H7455of your deedsמַעַלְלֵיכֶ֖םma.'a.lei.KhemH4611,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

3“Then I Myselfוַאֲנִ֗יva.'a.NiH589willgatherאֲקַבֵּץ֙'a.ka.BetzH6908the remnantשְׁאֵרִ֣יתshe.'e.RitH7611of My flockצֹאנִ֔יtzo.NiH6629out of allמִכֹּל֙mi.KolH3605the countriesהָאֲרָצ֔וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776whereאֲשֶׁר־ שָׁ֑ם'a.Sher- ShamH834 H8033I have drivenהִדַּ֥חְתִּיhi.Dach.tiH5080them, and bringוַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֥יva.ha.shi.vo.TiH7725them backH7725to their pastureנְוֵהֶ֖ןne.ve.HenH5116,and they will beH6509fruitfulוּפָר֥וּu.fa.RuH6509and multiplyוְרָבֽוּ׃ve.ra.VuH7235.

4I will also raiseוַהֲקִמֹתִ֧יva.ha.ki.mo.TiH6965upH6965shepherdsרֹעִ֖יםro.'ImH7462overעֲלֵיהֶ֛ם'a.lei.HemH5921them and they willtendוְרָע֑וּםve.ra.'UmH7462them; and they willnot beH3372afraidיִֽירְא֨וּyi.re.'UH3372anyH5750longerH5750,norH3808be terrifiedיֵחַ֛תּוּye.Cha.tuH2865,norH3808will any beH6485missingH6485,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068.

5“Beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009, thedaysיָמִ֤יםya.MimH3117are comingבָּאִים֙ba.'ImH935,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, “When I will raiseוַהֲקִמֹתִ֥יva.ha.ki.mo.TiH6965upH6965for Davidלְדָוִ֖דle.da.VidH1732a righteousצַדִּ֑יקtza.DikH6662Branchצֶ֣מַחTze.machH6780; And He willreignוּמָ֤לַךְu.Ma.lakhH4427as kingמֶ֙לֶךְ֙Me.lekhH4428andactוְהִשְׂכִּ֔ילve.his.KilH7919wiselyH7919Anddoוְעָשָׂ֛הve.'a.SahH6213justiceמִשְׁפָּ֥טmish.PatH4941and righteousnessוּצְדָקָ֖הu.tze.da.KahH6666in the landבָּאָֽרֶץ׃ba.'A.retzH776.

6In His daysבְּיָמָיו֙be.ya.MavH3117Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063will be savedתִּוָּשַׁ֣עti.va.Sha'H3467, AndIsraelוְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לve.Yis.ra.'ElH3478will liveיִשְׁכֹּ֣ןyish.KonH7931securelyלָבֶ֑טַחla.Ve.tachH983;And thisוְזֶה־ve.zeh-H2088is Hisnameשְּׁמ֥וֹshe.MoH8034by whichאֲֽשֶׁר־'asher-H834He will be calledיִקְרְא֖וֹyik.re.'OH7121, ‘TheLordיְהוָ֥ה׀Yah.wehH3068Our Righteousnessצִדְקֵֽנוּ׃ סtzid.Ke.nuH6664.’

7“Thereforeלָכֵ֛ןla.KhenH3651beholdהִנֵּֽה־hi.neh-H2009, thedaysיָמִ֥יםya.MimH3117are comingבָּאִ֖יםba.'ImH935,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “when they will noוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808longerעוֹד֙'OdH5750sayיֹ֤אמְרוּYo.me.ruH559, ‘As the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,whoאֲשֶׁ֧ר'a.SherH834broughtH5927the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714,’

8but, ‘As the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,whoH834broughtH5927upH5927and ledהֵבִ֜יאhe.Vi'H935the descendantsזֶ֨רַעZe.ra'H2233of the householdבֵּ֤יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478back from thenorthצָפ֔וֹנָהtza.Fo.nahH6828landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776and from allוּמִכֹּל֙u.mi.KolH3605the countriesהָֽאֲרָצ֔וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776whereשָׁ֑םShamH834 H8033I had drivenהִדַּחְתִּ֖יםhi.dach.TimH5080them.’ Then they will liveוְיָשְׁב֖וּve.ya.she.VuH3427on their own soilאַדְמָתָֽם׃ ס'ad.ma.TamH127.”

False Prophets Denounced

9As for the prophetsלַנְּבִאִ֞יםla.ne.vi.'ImH5030: Myheartלִבִּ֣יli.BiH3820is brokenנִשְׁבַּ֧רnish.BarH7665withinבְקִרְבִּ֗יve.kir.BiH7130me,Allכָּל־kol-H3605my bonesעַצְמוֹתַ֔יatz.mo.TaiH6106trembleרָֽחֲפוּ֙ra.cha.FuH7363;I have becomeהָיִ֙יתִי֙ha.Yi.tiH1961like a drunkenשִׁכּ֔וֹרshi.KorH7910manכְּאִ֣ישׁke.'IshH376,And like a manוּכְגֶ֖בֶרu.khe.Ge.verH1397overcomeעֲבָ֣רוֹ'a.Va.rovH5674by wineיָ֑יִןYa.yinH3196,Becauseמִפְּנֵ֣יmi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068And becauseוּמִפְּנֵ֖יu.mi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440of His holyקָדְשֽׁוֹ׃ka.de.ShoH6944wordsדִּבְרֵ֥יdiv.ReiH1697.

10For the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776is fullמָלְאָ֣הmal.'AhH4390ofadulterersמְנָֽאֲפִים֙me.na.'a.FimH5003;For the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776mournsאָבְלָ֣ה'a.ve.LahH56becauseמִפְּנֵ֤יmi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440of the curseאָלָה֙'a.LahH423. Thepasturesנְא֣וֹתne.'otH4999of the wildernessמִדְבָּ֑רmid.BarH4057have driedיָבְשׁ֖וּya.ve.ShuH3001upH3001.Their courseמְרֽוּצָתָם֙me.ru.tza.TamH4794is evilרָעָ֔הra.'AhH7451And their mightוּגְבוּרָתָ֖םu.ge.vu.ra.TamH1369is not rightH3653.

11“ForbothH1571prophetנָבִ֥יאna.Vi'H5030and priestכֹּהֵ֖ןko.HenH3548are defiledחָנֵ֑פוּcha.Ne.fuH2610;EvenH1571in My houseבְּבֵיתִ֛יbe.vei.TiH1004I have foundמָצָ֥אתִיma.Tza.tiH4672their wickednessH7463,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

12“Thereforeלָכֵן֩la.KhenH3651their wayדַרְכָּ֜םdar.KamH1870will be likeslipperyכַּחֲלַקְלַקּוֹת֙ka.cha.lak.la.kOtH2519pathsH2519to them,They will be drivenH1760awayH1760into thegloomבָּֽאֲפֵלָ֔הba.'a.fe.LahH653and fallוְנָ֣פְלוּve.Na.fe.luH5307downH5307in it;For I will bringאָבִ֨יא'a.Vi'H935disasterH7463upon them,The yearשְׁנַ֥תshe.NatH8141of their punishmentפְּקֻדָּתָ֖םpe.ku.da.TamH6486,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

13“Moreover, among the prophetsוּבִנְבִיאֵ֥יu.vin.vi.'EiH5030of Samariaשֹׁמְר֖וֹןsho.me.RonH8111I sawרָאִ֣יתִיra.'I.tiH7200anoffensiveH8604thingH8604: Theyprophesiedהִנַּבְּא֣וּhi.na.be.'UH5012by Baalבַבַּ֔עַלva.Ba.'alH1168andledH8582My peopleעַמִּ֖י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ סYis.ra.'ElH3478astrayH8582.

14Also among the prophetsוּבִנְבִאֵ֨יu.vin.vi.'EiH5030of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֜םye.ru.sha.LimH3389I have seenרָאִ֣יתִיra.'I.tiH7200ahorribleשַׁעֲרוּרָ֗הsha.'a.ru.RahH8186thingH8186:The committingH5003ofH5003adulteryנָא֞וֹףna.'ofH5003and walkingוְהָלֹ֤ךְve.ha.LokhH1980in deceitבַּשֶּׁ֙קֶר֙ba.She.kerH8267;And they strengthenוְחִזְּקוּ֙ve.chi.ze.KuH2388the handsיְדֵ֣יye.DeiH3027ofevildoersמְרֵעִ֔יםme.re.'ImH7489,So that noלְבִ֨לְתִּי־le.Vil.ti-H1115oneאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376has turnedשָׁ֔בוּSha.vuH7725backH7725from his wickednessH7463.Allכֻלָּם֙khu.LamH3605of them have becomeהָֽיוּ־ha.yu-H1961to Me likeSodomכִּסְדֹ֔םkis.DomH5467,And her inhabitantsוְיֹשְׁבֶ֖יהָve.yo.she.Vei.haH3427like Gomorrahכַּעֲמֹרָֽה׃ סka.'a.mo.RahH6017.

15Thereforeלָכֵ֞ןla.KhenH3651thisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָאוֹת֙tze.va.'OtH6635saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559concerningעַל־'al-H5921the prophetsהַנְּבִאִ֔יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030: ‘BeholdH2009, I am going tofeedמַאֲכִ֤ילma.'a.KhilH398them wormwoodלַֽעֲנָ֔הla.'a.NahH3939And makeוְהִשְׁקִתִ֖יםve.hish.ki.TimH8248them drinkH8248poisonousרֹ֑אשׁRoshH7219waterמֵי־mei-H4325,For from the prophetsנְבִיאֵ֣יne.vi.'EiH5030of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֔םye.ru.sha.LimH3389Ungodlinessחֲנֻפָּ֖הcha.nu.PahH2613has spreadיָצְאָ֥הya.tze.'AhH3318into allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ פha.'A.retzH776.’”

They areleadingH1891you intoH1891futilityH1891;They tellיְדַבֵּ֔רוּye.da.Be.ruH1696avisionחֲז֤וֹןcha.ZonH2377of their ownimaginationלִבָּם֙li.BamH3820, Notfrom the mouthמִפִּ֥יmi.PiH6310of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

17They keep sayingH559to those whodespiseלִֽמְנַאֲצַ֔יlim.na.'a.TzaiH5006Me, ‘The Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068has saidדִּבֶּ֣רdi.BerH1696, “You will haveיִֽהְיֶ֣הyih.YehH1961peaceשָׁל֖וֹםsha.LomH7965”’;And as for everyoneוְ֠כֹלVe.kholH3605who walksהֹלֵ֞ךְho.LekhH1980in thestubbornnessבִּשְׁרִר֤וּתbish.ri.RutH8307of his own heartלִבּוֹ֙li.BoH3820,They sayH559, ‘DisasterH7463will not comeתָב֥וֹאta.Vo'H935on you.’

18Butwhoמִ֤יmiH4310has stoodעָמַד֙'a.MadH5975in the councilבְּס֣וֹדbe.SodH5475of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,That he should seeוְיֵ֖רֶאve.Ye.re'H7200and hearוְיִשְׁמַ֣עve.yish.Ma'H8085His wordדְּבָר֑וֹde.va.RoH1697?Whoמִֽי־mi-H4310has paidH7181attentionהִקְשִׁ֥יבhik.ShivH7181toHis wordדְּבָר֖וֹde.va.roH1697and listenedוַיִּשְׁמָֽע׃ סvai.yish.Ma'H8085?

19Beholdהִנֵּ֣ה׀hi.NehH2009, thestormסַעֲרַ֣תsa.'a.RatH5591of the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068has goneH3318forthH3318in wrathחֵמָה֙che.MahH2534,Even a whirlingH2342tempestוְסַ֖עַרve.Sa.'arH5591;It will swirlH2342downH2342on the headרֹ֥אשׁroshH7218of the wickedרְשָׁעִ֖יםre.sha.'ImH7563.

20Theangerאַף־'af-H639of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068will not turnיָשׁוּב֙ya.ShuvH7725backH7725UntilH5704He hasperformedעֲשֹׂת֥וֹa.so.ToH6213and carriedH6965outH6965the purposesמְזִמּ֣וֹתme.zi.MotH4209of His heartלִבּ֑וֹli.BoH3820;In the lastבְּאַֽחֲרִית֙be.'a.cha.RitH319daysהַיָּמִ֔יםhai.ya.MimH3117you will clearlyבִּינָֽה׃bi.NahH998understandתִּתְבּ֥וֹנְנוּtit.Bo.nuH995it.

21I did not sendשָׁלַ֥חְתִּיsha.Lach.tiH7971theseprophetsהַנְּבִאִ֖יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030,But they ranרָ֑צוּRa.tzuH7323.I did not speakדִבַּ֥רְתִּיdi.Bar.tiH1696to them,But they prophesiedנִבָּֽאוּ׃ni.Ba.'uH5012.

22But ifוְאִֽם־ve.'im-H518they hadstoodעָמְד֖וּ'a.me.DuH5975in My councilבְּסוֹדִ֑יbe.so.DiH5475, Then they would haveannouncedוְיַשְׁמִ֤עוּve.yash.Mi.'uH8085My wordsדְבָרַי֙de.va.RaiH1697to My peopleעַמִּ֔י'a.MiH5971,And would have turnedוִֽישִׁבוּם֙vi.shi.VumH7725them backH7725from their evilהָרָ֔עha.Ra'H7451wayמִדַּרְכָּ֣םmi.dar.KamH1870And from the evilוּמֵרֹ֖עַu.me.Ro.a'H7455of their deedsמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶֽם׃ סMa.'a.lei.HemH4611.

23“Am I a Godהַאֱלֹהֵ֧יha.'e.lo.HeiH430who isnearמִקָּרֹ֛בmi.ka.RoH7138,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “And not a Godאֱלֹהֵ֖י'e.lo.HeiH430farH7350offH4480 H7350?

25“I haveheardשָׁמַ֗עְתִּיsha.Ma'.tiH8085whatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the prophetsהַנְּבִאִ֔יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030have saidאָֽמְרוּ֙'a.me.RuH559whoprophesyהַֽנִּבְּאִ֥יםha.ni.be.'ImH5012falselyשֶׁ֖קֶרShe.kerH8267in My nameבִּשְׁמִ֛יbish.MiH8034,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, ‘I hadH2492aH2492dreamחָלַ֖מְתִּיcha.Lam.tiH2492,I hadH2492aH2492dreamחָלָֽמְתִּי׃cha.La.me.tiH2492!’

31BeholdH2009,I am againstעַל־'al-H5921the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִ֖םha.ne.vi.'ImH5030,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “whouseהַלֹּקְחִ֣יםha.lo.ke.ChimH3947their tonguesלְשׁוֹנָ֔םle.sho.NamH3956and declareוַֽיִּנְאֲמ֖וּvai.yin.'a.MuH5001, ‘The Lorddeclaresנְאֻֽם׃ne.'UmH5002!’

32BeholdH2009,I am againstעַֽל־'al-H5921those who have prophesiedנִבְּאֵ֞יni.be.'EiH5012falseשֶׁ֙קֶר֙she.kerH8267dreamsחֲלֹמ֥וֹתcha.lo.MotH2472,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, “and reportedוַֽיְסַפְּרוּם֙vay.sa.pe.RumH5608them and ledH8582My peopleעַמִּ֔י'a.MiH5971astrayH8582by their liesבְּשִׁקְרֵיהֶ֖םbe.shik.rei.HemH8267andrecklessH6350boastingH6350; yetI did not sendשְׁלַחְתִּ֜יםshe.lach.TimH7971them nor commandצִוִּיתִ֗יםtzi.vi.TimH6680them, norH3808do theyprovideH3276thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088peopleלָֽעָם־la.'om-H5971the slightestH3276benefitH3276,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
