1Then the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, “Takeקַח־kach-H3947for yourself a largeגָּד֑וֹלga.DolH1419tabletגִּלָּי֣וֹןgi.la.YonH1549andwriteוּכְתֹ֤בu.khe.ToH3789on itin ordinaryאֱנ֔וֹשׁ'e.No.oshH582lettersבְּחֶ֣רֶטbe.Che.retH2747:Maher-shalal-hash-bazH4122.

2AndI will takeH5749to Myself faithfulנֶאֱמָנִ֑יםne.'e.ma.NimH539witnessesעֵדִ֖ים'e.DimH5707forH5749testimonyH5749,Uriahאוּרִיָּ֣ה'u.ri.YahH223the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548and Zechariahזְכַרְיָ֖הוּze.khar.Ya.huH2148the sonבֶּ֥ןbenH1121of Jeberechiahיְבֶרֶכְיָֽהוּ׃ye.ve.rekh.Ya.huH3000.”

3So I approachedוָאֶקְרַב֙va.'ek.RavH7126the prophetessהַנְּבִיאָ֔הha.ne.vi.'AhH5031,and she conceivedוַתַּ֖הַרva.Ta.harH2029and gaveH3205birthH3205to a sonבֵּ֑ןBenH1121.Then the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, “Nameקְרָ֣א שְׁמ֔וֹke.Ra' she.MoH7121 H8034himMaher-shalal-hash-bazH4122;

4forbeforeבְּטֶ֙רֶם֙be.Te.remH2962the boyהַנַּ֔עַרha.Na.'arH5288knowsיֵדַ֣עye.Da'H3045how to cryH7121outH7121‘My fatherאָבִ֣י'a.ViH1’or ‘My motherוְאִמִּ֑יve.'i.MiH517,’the wealthחֵ֣ילcheilH2428ofDamascusדַּמֶּ֗שֶׂקda.Me.sekH1834and the spoilsשְׁלַ֣לshe.LalH7998of Samariaשֹׁמְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111will be carriedיִשָּׂ֣א׀yi.Sa'H5375away beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּֽׁוּר׃ ס'a.ShurH804.”

5Againוַיֹּ֣סֶףvai.Yo.sefH3254the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068spokeדַּבֵּ֥רda.BerH1696to me furtherע֖וֹדodH5750,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

6“Inasmuchיַ֗עַן כִּ֤יYa.'an kiH3282 H3588as theseהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088peopleהָעָ֣םha.'AmH5971haverejectedמָאַס֙ma.'AsH3988the gentlyלְאַ֑טle.'AtH328flowingהַהֹלְכִ֖יםha.ho.le.KhimH1980watersמֵ֣יmeiH4325of Shiloahהַשִּׁלֹ֔חַha.shi.Lo.achH7975And rejoiceוּמְשׂ֥וֹשׂu.me.SosH4885inRezinרְצִ֖יןre.TzinH7526and the sonוּבֶן־u.ven-H1121of Remaliahרְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃re.mal.Ya.huH7425;

7Now thereforeוְלָכֵ֡ןve.la.KhenH3651,beholdהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009,the Lordאֲדֹנָי֩'a.do.NaiH136is about to bringמַעֲלֶ֨הma.'a.LehH5927on them thestrongהָעֲצוּמִים֙ha.'a.tzu.MimH6099and abundantוְהָ֣רַבִּ֔יםve.Ha.ra.BimH7227watersמֵ֣יmeiH4325of the EuphratesRiverהַנָּהָ֗רha.na.HarH5104, That is, thekingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֖וּר'a.ShurH804and allכָּל־kol-H3605his gloryכְּבוֹד֑וֹke.vo.DoH3519; And it willriseוְעָלָה֙ve.'a.LahH5927overH5921allכָּל־kol-H3605its channelsאֲפִיקָ֔יו'a.fi.KavH650and goוְהָלַ֖ךְve.ha.LakhH1980overH5921allכָּל־kol-H3605its banksגְּדוֹתָֽיו׃ge.do.TavH1415.

8Thenit will sweepH2498onH2498into Judahבִּֽיהוּדָה֙bi.hu.DahH3063,it will overflowשָׁטַ֣ףsha.TafH7857and passוְעָבַ֔רve.'a.VarH5674throughH5674, It willreachיַגִּ֑יעַya.Gi.a'H5060as farעַד־'ad-H5704as the neckצַוָּ֖ארtza.VarH6677;And the spreadמֻטּ֣וֹתmu.TotH4298of its wingsכְּנָפָ֔יוke.na.FavH3671willfillמְלֹ֥אme.Lo'H4393the expanseרֹֽחַב־ro.chav-H7341ofyour landאַרְצְךָ֖'ar.tze.KhaH776,ImmanuelH6005.

9“Be brokenרֹ֤עוּRo.'uH7489,you peoplesעַמִּים֙'a.MimH5971, and beshatteredוָחֹ֔תּוּva.Cho.tuH2865;And listenוְהַֽאֲזִ֔ינוּve.ha.'a.Zi.nuH238,allכֹּ֖לkolH3605remoteH4801placesH4801of the earthאָ֑רֶץ'A.retzH776.GetH247readyH247, yet beshatteredוָחֹ֔תּוּva.Cho.tuH2865;GetH247readyH247, yet beshatteredוָחֹֽתּוּ׃va.Cho.tuH2865.

10Deviseעֻ֥צוּ'U.tzuH5779a planעֵצָ֖ה'e.TzahH6098,but it will failוְתֻפָ֑רve.tu.FarH6565;Stateדַּבְּר֤וּda.be.RuH1696aproposalדָבָר֙da.VarH1697, butit will not standיָק֔וּםya.KumH6965, ForGodאֵֽל׃ ס'ElH410is with us.”

11For soכֹ֨הkhohH3541the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068spokeאָמַ֧ר'a.MarH559to me withmightyכְּחֶזְקַ֣תke.chez.KatH2393powerהַיָּ֑דhai.YadH3027and instructedוְיִסְּרֵ֕נִיve.yi.se.Re.niH3256menot to walkמִלֶּ֛כֶתmi.Le.khetH1980in the wayבְּדֶ֥רֶךְbe.De.rekhH1870of thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088peopleהָֽעָם־ha.'om-H5971,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

12“You are not to sayתֹאמְר֣וּןtom.RunH559, ‘It is aconspiracyקֶ֔שֶׁרKe.sherH7195!’Regarding everythingלְכֹ֧לle.KholH3605that thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088peopleהָעָ֥םha.'AmH5971callיֹאמַ֛רyo.MarH559a conspiracyקָ֑שֶׁרKa.sherH7195, Andyou are not to fearתִֽירְא֖וּti.re.'UH3372whatH4172they fearמוֹרָא֥וֹmo.ra.'OH4172or beH6206inH6206dreadH6206of it.

13It is theLordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָא֖וֹתtze.va.'otH6635whom you are to regardתַקְדִּ֑ישׁוּtak.Di.shuH6942asH6942holyH6942.And He shall be your fearמוֹרַאֲכֶ֖םmo.ra.'a.KhemH4172,And He shall beH6206your dreadH6206.

14Then He will becomeוְהָיָ֖הve.ha.YahH1961asanctuaryלְמִקְדָּ֑שׁle.mik.DashH4720;But to bothלִשְׁנֵ֨יlish.NeiH8147housesבָתֵּ֤יva.TeiH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478, He will be astoneוּלְאֶ֣בֶןu.le.'E.venH68of stumblingנֶ֠גֶףNe.gefH5063and a rockוּלְצ֨וּרu.le.TzurH6697of offenseמִכְשׁ֜וֹלmikh.SholH4383, Anda snareלְפַ֣חle.FachH6341and atrapוּלְמוֹקֵ֔שׁu.le.mo.KeshH4170for the inhabitantsלְיוֹשֵׁ֖בle.yo.ShevH3427of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389.

15Manyרַבִּ֑יםra.BimH7227will stumbleוְכָ֥שְׁלוּve.Kha.she.luH3782over them,Then they will fallוְנָפְל֣וּve.na.fe.LuH5307and be brokenוְנִשְׁבָּ֔רוּve.nish.Ba.ruH7665;They will be snaredוְנוֹקְשׁ֖וּve.nok.ShuH3369and caughtוְנִלְכָּֽדוּ׃ סve.nil.Ka.duH3920.”
