20and Isaacיִצְחָק֙yitz.ChakH3327was fortyאַרְבָּעִ֣ים'ar.ba.'ImH705yearsשָׁנָ֔הsha.NahH8141oldבֶּן־ben-H1121when he tookבְּקַחְתּ֣וֹbe.kach.ToH3947Rebekahרִבְקָ֗הriv.KahH7259, thedaughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Bethuelבְּתוּאֵל֙be.tu.'ElH1328theArameanהָֽאֲרַמִּ֔יha.'a.ra.MiH761of Paddan-aramמִפַּדַּ֖ןmi.pa.DanH6307, thesisterאֲח֛וֹת'a.ChotH269of Labanלָבָ֥ןla.VanH3837theArameanהָאֲרַמִּ֖יha.'a.ra.MiH761,to be his wifeלְאִשָּֽׁה׃le.'i.ShahH802.

21Isaacיִצְחָ֤קyitz.ChakH3327prayedוַיֶּעְתַּ֨רvai.ye'.TarH6279to the Lordלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068on behalfלְנֹ֣כַחle.No.khachH5227of his wifeאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ'ish.ToH802,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588she was unableH6135toH6135haveH6135childrenH6135; andthe Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068answeredוַיֵּעָ֤תֶרvai.ye.'A.terH6279him, and his wifeאִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃'ish.ToH802Rebekahרִבְקָ֥הriv.KahH7259conceivedוַתַּ֖הַרva.Ta.harH2029.

22But the childrenהַבָּנִים֙ha.ba.NimH1121struggledוַיִּתְרֹֽצֲצ֤וּvai.yit.ro.tza.TzuH7533together withinבְּקִרְבָּ֔הּbe.kir.BahH7130her; and she saidוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518it is soכֵּ֔ןKenH3651,whyלָ֥מָּהLa.mahH4100am I in this condition?”So she wentוַתֵּ֖לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980toinquireלִדְרֹ֥שׁlid.RoshH1875of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

23And the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to her, “Twoשְׁנֵ֤יshe.NeiH8147nationsגוֹיִם֙go.yimH1471are in your wombבְּבִטְנֵ֔ךְbe.vit.NekhH990;And twoוּשְׁנֵ֣יu.she.NeiH8147peoplesלְאֻמִּ֔יםle.'u.MimH3816will be separatedיִפָּרֵ֑דוּyi.pa.Re.duH6504from your bodyמִמֵּעַ֖יִךְmi.me.'A.yikhH4578;And one peopleוּלְאֹם֙u.le.'OmH3816will beH553strongerיֶֽאֱמָ֔ץye.'e.MatzH553thanH4480the otherמִלְאֹ֣םmil.'OmH3816; Andthe olderוְרַ֖בve.RavH7227will serveיַעֲבֹ֥דya.'a.VodH5647the youngerצָעִֽיר׃tza.'IrH6810.”

24When her daysיָמֶ֖יהָya.Mei.haH3117leadingto the deliveryלָלֶ֑דֶתla.Le.detH3205were atH4390anH4390endH4390,beholdוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009,there were twinsH8420in her wombבְּבִטְנָֽהּ׃be.vit.NahH990.

25Now the firstהָרִאשׁוֹן֙ha.ri.shOnH7223cameH3318outH3318redאַדְמוֹנִ֔י'ad.mo.NiH132,allכֻּלּ֖וֹku.LoH3605over like a hairyשֵׂעָ֑רse.'ArH8181garmentכְּאַדֶּ֣רֶתke.'a.De.retH155;and they namedוַיִּקְרְא֥וּ שְׁמ֖וֹvai.yik.re.'U she.MoH7121 H8034him Esauעֵשָֽׂו׃'e.SavH6215.

26Afterwardוְאַֽחֲרֵי־ve.'a.cha.rei-H310his brotherאָחִ֗יו'a.ChivH251cameH3318outH3318withhis handוְיָד֤וֹve.ya.DoH3027holdingאֹחֶ֙זֶת֙'o.Che.zetH270on to Esau’sעֵשָׂ֔ו'e.SavH6215heelבַּעֲקֵ֣בba.'a.KevH6119, sohe was namedוַיִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹvai.yik.Ra' she.MoH7121 H8034Jacobיַעֲקֹ֑בya.'a.KoH3290;and Isaacוְיִצְחָ֛קve.yitz.ChakH3327wassixtyשִׁשִּׁ֥יםshi.ShimH8346yearsשָׁנָ֖הsha.NahH8141oldבֶּן־ben-H1121when she gaveH3205birthH3205to them.

27When the boysהַנְּעָרִ֔יםha.ne.'a.RimH5288grewH1431upH1431,Esauעֵשָׂ֗ו'e.SavH6215becameוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961a skillfulיֹדֵ֥עַyo.De.a'H3045hunterאִ֛ישׁ צַ֖יִד'ish Tza.yidH376 H6718,a manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of the fieldשָׂדֶ֑הsa.DehH7704;but Jacobוְיַעֲקֹב֙ve.ya.'a.KoH3290was acivilizedתָּ֔םTamH8535manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376,livingיֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427in tentsאֹהָלִֽים׃'o.ha.LimH168.

28Now Isaacיִצְחָ֛קyitz.ChakH3327lovedוַיֶּאֱהַ֥בvai.ye.'e.HavH157Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215becauseכִּי־ki-H3588he hada tasteבְּפִ֑יוbe.FivH6310for gameצַ֣יִדTza.yidH6718;but Rebekahוְרִבְקָ֖הve.riv.KahH7259lovedאֹהֶ֥בֶת'o.He.vetH157Jacobיַעֲקֹֽב׃ya.'a.KoH3290.

29When Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290had cookedוַיָּ֥זֶדvai.Ya.zedH2102astewנָזִ֑ידna.ZidH5138one day,Esauעֵשָׂ֛ו'e.SavH6215cameH935inH935from the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֖הha.sa.DehH7704and he was exhaustedעָיֵֽף׃'a.YefH5889;

30and Esauעֵשָׂ֜ו'e.SavH6215saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290, “Pleaseנָא֙na'H4994let me haveH3938aH3938mouthfulH3938ofthat redH122stuffאֱדֽוֹם׃'e.DomH123there, for I am exhaustedעָיֵ֖ף'a.YefH5889.”Thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֥ן'al- kenH5921 H3651he was calledקָרָֽא־ka.ra'-H7121EdomH112bynameשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034.

31But Jacobיַעֲקֹ֑בya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Firstכַיּ֛וֹםkhai.YomH3117sellמִכְרָ֥הmikh.RahH4376me yourbirthrightבְּכֹֽרָתְךָ֖be.kho.ra.te.KhaH1062.”

32Esauעֵשָׂ֔ו'e.SavH6215saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Lookהִנֵּ֛הhi.NehH2009,I amH1980aboutH1980to dieלָמ֑וּתla.MutH4191;so of whatוְלָמָּה־ve.la.mah-H4100usethen is the birthrightבְּכֹרָֽה׃be.kho.RahH1062to me?”

33And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Firstכַּיּ֔וֹםkai.YomH3117swearהִשָּׁ֤בְעָהhi.Sha.ve.'ahH7650to me”; so he sworeוַיִּשָּׁבַ֖עvai.yi.sha.Va'H7650an oath to him, andsoldוַיִּמְכֹּ֥רvai.yim.KorH4376his birthrightבְּכֹרָת֖וֹbe.kho.ra.ToH1062to Jacobלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃le.ya.'a.KoH3290.

34Then Jacobוְיַעֲקֹ֞בve.ya.'a.KoH3290gaveנָתַ֣ןna.TanH5414Esauלְעֵשָׂ֗וle.'e.SavH6215breadלֶ֚חֶםLe.chemH3899and lentilעֲדָשִׁ֔ים'a.da.ShimH5742stewוּנְזִ֣ידu.ne.ZidH5138;and he ateוַיֹּ֣אכַלvai.Yo.khalH398and drankוַיֵּ֔שְׁתְּvai.Ye.shetH8354,and gotH6965upH6965and wentH1980onH1980his wayH1980.So Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215despisedוַיִּ֥בֶזvai.Yi.vezH959his birthrightהַבְּכֹרָֽה׃ סha.be.kho.RahH1062.
