19Now theseH428 are the records of 1the generationsH8435 of IsaacH3327, Abraham’sH85 sonH1121: AbrahamH85 fatheredH3205 IsaacH3327; 20and IsaacH3327 was fortyH705 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he tookH3947 2RebekahH7259, the 3daughterH1323 of BethuelH1328 the 4ArameanH761 of Paddan-aramH6307, the 5sisterH269 of LabanH3837 the 6ArameanH761, to be his wifeH802. 21IsaacH3327 prayedH6279 to the LordH3068 on behalfH5227 of his wifeH802, becauseH3588 she was unableH6135 toH6135 haveH6135 childrenH6135; and 7the LordH3068 8answeredH6279 him, and his wifeH802 RebekahH7259 9conceivedH2029. 22But the childrenH1121 struggledH7533 together withinH7130 her; and she saidH559, “IfH518 it is soH3651, whyH4100 am I in this condition?” So she wentH1980 to 10inquireH1875 of the LordH3068. 23And the LordH3068 saidH559 to her, “11TwoH8147 nationsH1471 are in your wombH990; 12And twoH8147 peoplesH3816 will be separatedH6504 from your bodyH4578; And one peopleH3816 will beH553 strongerH553 thanH4480 the otherH3816; And 13the olderH7227 will serveH5647 the youngerH6810.” 24When her daysH3117 leading to the deliveryH3205 were atH4390 anH4390 endH4390, beholdH2009, there were twinsH8420 in her wombH990. 25Now the firstH7223 cameH3318 outH3318 redH132, 14allH3605 over like a hairyH8181 garmentH155; and they namedH7121H8034 him EsauH6215. 26AfterwardH310 his brotherH251 cameH3318 outH3318 with 15his handH3027 holdingH270 on to Esau’sH6215 heelH6119, so 16he was namedH7121H8034 17JacobH3290; and IsaacH3327 was 18sixtyH8346 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when she gaveH3205 birthH3205 to them.
27When the boysH5288 grewH1431 upH1431, EsauH6215 becameH1961 a skillfulH3045 hunterH376H6718, a manH376 of the fieldH7704; but JacobH3290 was a 19civilizedH8535 manH376, 20livingH3427 in tentsH168. 28Now IsaacH3327 lovedH157 EsauH6215 becauseH3588 21he had 22a tasteH6310 for gameH6718; 23but RebekahH7259 lovedH157 JacobH3290. 29When JacobH3290 had cookedH2102 a 24stewH5138 one day, EsauH6215 cameH935 inH935 from the fieldH7704 and he was exhaustedH5889; 30and EsauH6215 saidH559 to JacobH3290, “PleaseH4994 let me haveH3938 aH3938 mouthfulH3938 of 25that redH122 stuffH123 there, for I am exhaustedH5889.” ThereforeH5921H3651 he was calledH7121 26EdomH112 by nameH8034. 31But JacobH3290 saidH559, “27FirstH3117 sellH4376 me your 28birthrightH1062.” 32EsauH6215 saidH559, “LookH2009, I amH1980 aboutH1980 to dieH4191; so of whatH4100 use then is the birthrightH1062 to me?” 33And JacobH3290 saidH559, “29FirstH3117 swearH7650 to me”; so he sworeH7650 an oath to him, and 30soldH4376 his birthrightH1062 to JacobH3290. 34Then JacobH3290 gaveH5414 EsauH6215 breadH3899 and lentilH5742 stewH5138; and he ateH398 and drankH8354, and gotH6965 upH6965 and wentH1980 onH1980 his wayH1980.
